  1. I've got a couple things from my '86 VR that I'm going to try to sell, problem is I have no idea how much they're worth. I was hoping you guys could provide some info. 1. Set of Air Deflectors with mounting brackets, good shape to be from a 23 year old bike. No discoloration and only minor scratches. 2. Driver's back rest with mounting brackets. Very good shape only issue is slight fraying in the leather where the back rest mounts on the bike. I've looked on ebay, but I can't find either of these things listed to get an idea for a price. Thanks for the help, Mick
  2. Good move getting rid of her. I worked my way through college in restaurants and delivering food. It taught me how to recognize some unpleasant personality traits in my dates. If the treat "service" people like crap, they won't respect you. I was dating a girl a little while after I got out of college, we had been out a few times and I wanted to take her to a nice restaurant. Food was great and service was great, but she would be sweet to me and in the next breath, be a total b***h to the waitress. When the waitress brought the check I told her "I apologize for the attitude of my date, however I can assure you this is the last date we will be on." My date sat there with her mouth open, I took her home and said sorry I won't be back.
  3. Put mine down in my garage Thanksgiving weekend. Got a few projects to do. Repair and reinforce cracks in faring. Sync carbs and replace diaphragms. Replace battery cables and run extra ground to frame from starter. Change Oil & filter. Hope I remember how the whole thing goes back together.

  7. Good luck buddy. Last time I was scheduled for one, my wife told them to see if they could find my head while they were up there.
  8. Thank you very much for serving to protect my freedoms. I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you're doing. Mick
  9. I know that road. I'm not comfortable driving my truck between JC and Greenville a LOT of idiots out there. Taking 107 out of Jonesborough to Greenville is a great ride, though.
  10. The interstate scares the crap out of me every time I get on it. Where were you?
  11. I should still be riding, but I need to do some work to the old VR over the winter. So I put her down in the garage on Thanksgiving and started pulling the tupperware off.
  12. Ok, I'll admit I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas Tree at times, but I've searched and I'm coming up with nothing. Can someone please post a link to the thread that explains how to run the extra ground from the starter to the frame on a 1st generation. I've got an 86 VR and I'm trying to take care of some issues. Also if there are any pics on running new battery cables, I need some help with that too. Thanks, I appreciate any help I can get. Mick
  13. I've had a problem with my 86 VR where the signal lights were turning off way too quickly (sometimes after two or three blinks). One of my buddies helped me look at it a few weeks ago and we found out it was losing ground and cutting off before it was supposed to. After pricing replacement switches for a few weeks I decided to try something today. I ran a wire from the ground side of the fuse box through the cable channel in the left handle bar and into the switch. There is a metal plate inside the switch just behind the control. I played around with my wire to find where the plate needed the ground and soldered the wire in place. I have to manually turn my signal light off now after I make a turn, but I feel a whole lot safer now that I don't have to worry about it turning off at the wrong time. Not a hard fix if I could do it. Thought someone else may be having the same problem.
  14. I used to have a CB350Four that looked exactly like that one except mine was red. I'm going to guess 1972, that's the year for mine. Very sharp bike for the age. Not so much for the cat.
  15. Just found this site and I'm looking forward to diving into the info on here. I just bought an 86 Venture Royale about a month ago and while it is in great shape, I've got some projects for it. I think I'll be able to find some good info. Thanks for letting me in. Mick
