  1. Hmmm, ain't the first time someone has lost a saddlebag lid! For the TCI you may have to cut one of the "ears" or mounting tabs off to get the false cover to fit right. For the saddlebag lids there have been members who installed "safety cables" between the lid and the bag so the lids, if they become unstrapped, won't get lost...
  2. Pucster, Diabetes works the other way around, your blood sugar gets really high and you need to regulate it DOWN to normal levels. Yes, a reading of 71 is on the low side, normal is around 100 on up to say 150 or so. A low reading is a sign of HYPOGLYCEMIA and maybe you should monitor yourself 4 times a day, before eating and before you go to bed. Before eating you should be around 90 to 120, about an hour after eating it should be in the upper 100's, and gradually lower back to around 100 after a few hours. Good thing to monitor, but be sure you consult your Doctor as to what you are doing and he will set you straight on what you are doing and what is expected to be normal. Low blood sugar will zap you as your body is running out of energy when it's low. For me, if I drop to that low or lower, I get the shakes and my body feels like I'm on amphetamines, nervous and jerky. High blood sugar, like in the 200's or 300's and I get kind of sluggish and lazy...
  3. Yeah, well, while you're gone, a meteor could smash into whichever one you leave home, or it could gwet stolen, or the garage could catch on fire, or???
  4. Been a while, check to see if the harness has a kink or is wrapped around itself, and don't be afraid to give it a good yank to get an extra half inch or so...
  5. Good luck, you may have to end up buying a used caliper just for the plastic dust cap...
  6. Yup you are correct! The MK1 has hydraulic anti dives and they are driven by the front brake caliper. No bleeder on the hydraulic line from the proportioning valve to the front caliper...
  7. WOW!! Have a GREAT trip Taz!!
  8. Yup! I've known about THAT for years, so I use it very sparingly, pretty much before bedtime when I am suffering from a cold just to sleep. During the day when sick I become a mouth breather... Good Luck Randy!!
  9. Just so you know which wire is which, on the Venture, both generations, Yellow is Brake, Blue is Running Lights, Green is Right Turn Signal, and Chocolate (Dark) Brown (as opposed to the lighter Brown which is a hot line with the bike on) is Left Turn Signal. Of course Black is Ground. Perhaps one of the easiest places to get to all of the wires is that 13 pin connector Steve is talking about. It is located under the seat behind the gas tank about in the middle of the rear fender area. It has all the wires for the rear lights going through it as well as all the wires for the CLASS system, the trunk light, etc. It does not have the lighter brown ignition wire so you can't get confused. The converter Heather pointed out will work fine, but myself I prefer to use the more expensive power isolator type converters which have a separate 6th line on the input that goes to battery power. The great advantage of these types is if your trailer develops a short in the wiring, which sometimes does happen, it will not take out your bike's lights or blow a fuse. It has circuitry inside it that uses the power coming from that extra red wire on the input to power the trailer lighting and not the individual circuits for brake, turn, etc to power the lights. Worst thing to happen is the fuse that you put on the red line pops instead. Hoppy makes a good one of those, they run about $40...
  10. Yes, the Renegade is an uhhhhh..interesting trike to say the least. I've only seen one up close. Now the Cheetah on the other hand...
  11. Yup!! My neighbor, Motorcycle Tom LOVES his!!
  12. No, growing OLD is mandatory!! Growing UP, on the other hand, is optional...
  13. Wow! Big enough trunk!! Reminds me of those Harley "Copcicles" from the 50's and 60's. Whoever did it did a good job...
  14. Soooooo, how did you trigger the alarm Don??
  15. Jeff, the thing is, RSV's have 4 way flashers but apparently RSTD's do not!!
  16. I think the guy said 2002 but not sure. They should be all the same...
  17. Just curious, what's the date code on the tire??
  18. Yah!! With that few miles on it there should be minimal wear, hardly any...
  19. Try a smaller diameter tire like the 2nd gen people do for low speed handling! Yes, from what I remember 6 years ago I cut the progressive spacers in half...
  20. Wow Kic, look how brown your lawn turned...
  21. Yup! That would be the one! Wonder who tipped off Mini that Don ordered the PITA tee so she could retaliate?? No, it wasn't me but I did know of both shirts before MD via Big Tom...
  22. When you replaced your valve cover gasket did you ALSO replace the rubber grommets on the valve cover bolts?? If you don't replace them then the gasket will never seal because the bolts bottom out and the rubber is already compressed and set in a compressed state. Yes, a set of those grommets is expensive, soo, there is a poor man's fix, put washers on top of the grommet so that the bolt can push down more because it now has a little further to go to bottom out. Actually because the bolt bottoms out that is the main reason people snap them when tightening them... Did you completely clean the surfaces of the stator cover and block before installing the new gasket?? They very rarely leak. One area that DOES leak is the rubber gasket that the 3 stator wires feed through. Just like the head bolt gaskets, they too loose their ability to seal once they are disturbed. Clean the areas like surgically spotless and use a thin coat of RTV to seal off. It will also leak at the holes that the wire goes through.
  23. There's a fellow in Louisiana that has "magically" developed 4 way flashers on his RSTD after disassembling to paint, unplugging some connectors, and then reassembling. I wanted to try to help but I can't seem to find a schematic anywhere on the site or on the web...
