  1. UPDATE!! Steamer and Robin are Here ast my place!! The problem, intermittent as it was, reoccurred twice!! Problem wasn't the battery at all! Upon further investigation, we found the connector for the ignition switch BURNED!! Pictures to follow... It is replaced, and they are spending the night here.
  2. OK Maintenance Day has OFFICIALLY started!! Just got back from a rescue mission. Seems that Steamer and Rockin' Robin got as far as Clarence NY on the NY State thruway and stopped at a rest stop. Put key in ignition, turned key, and absolutely NOTHING! No lights, no nothing! Well, they called AAA and made arrangements to get towed to Big Tom's place. Slight problem, Big tom is at Ft. Lost in the Woods, MO to see his grandson graduate from Basic Training, and taters was at work. Sooo, they called me and I said I would meet them over there. After a little over the phone troubleshooting we decided that the most likely cause was either the ignition switch took a dump, or the battery gave up the ghost! Well, I was planning on buying a new battery for myself as an emergency backup, so stopped at the local Auto Zone and picked up a nice new AGM. Got over there, Steamer already had the battery out, so we dropped in the new one and Viola, it comes back to life!! I had brought my load tester with me, and even though it was reading 12 volts, with the load test id dropped into the lower part of the weak area on the meter. Anyway, by now they should be close to the PA border as I type...
  3. I have an extra I refurbished a few years ago, I installed new belts, they should still be good, and cleaned and demag'ed the head. I don't have an easy way to make sure it is still operational but don't see any reason it wouldn't, it takes many years for the three belts to deteriorate. Are you, or anyone you know coming to MD?? It will save shipping costs...
  4. Can't wait to hear about them!
  5. yup!! Gonna pack tomorrow, then off at 10 AM Friday

  9. Anybody have the exploded view of the guts inside or pictures of how to disassemble, clean and reassemble the assembly?? There was a post on facebook that I was trying to help out with. Been a couple of years since I took one apart and I can't remember how they are assembled...

  11. TJ beat me to the punch by the reflection in the chrome!!! How about the covers for the front engine mounts?? The Diamond cut guy sells a really nice looking set of diamond cut covers, seeing as the aftermarket chrome ones are as rare as hen's teeth...
  12. Yes, I have seen that bike before, my HERO!!!
  13. Yup Reiny, one of us will get 'er done! I have a short project with Leo3wheel that will take me about a half hour to an hour but after that I'm free. As mentioned, there is a fuse for that outlet on the fuse block that is located inside the front lower cowl, the right one I think. It is not the fuse block that is behind the false battery cover. Also that plug is only on with ignition I think...
  14. Might be the AIS malfunctioning...
  15. Very nice Don! Yup, through the years I remember each and every one of them except one, and in some cases met in person! There is also one person whom I liked a lot that I was unaware had passed on, Boo. When did Jerry pass??
  16. Yah! This year the wife won't be riding as much, but after all she is 73! I know I am thinking that in a couple more years I might (or might not) give up riding too...
  17. Yah!! It's a GREAT party game, shake the gas tank!! Take a drink, shake a tank! See how long you and your friends can remain standing...
  18. Steve, I "blue'd" my metal plates from slipping my clutch too much learning to drive my RSV after it was converted to a trike, but I'm sure the extra 400 lbs plus a trailer didn't help matters any! That and the fact it was slipping pretty badly especially at highway speeds sometimes with a trailer towards the end of the season. I replaced everything and went with the Heavy Duty clutch and the PCW spring, no problems since then...
  19. ...and red Kote the tank after putting about 10 lbs of galvanized roofing nails in the tank and shake and shake and shake and still shake some more to scratch all the rust off the inside walls!

  24. So far the local Buffalo area forecast calls for a cool Friday, only in the low 60's but no rain for going down. Sunday's coming home weather is mid to upper 60's and no rain. Cleveland is calling for Friday a high of 70, Saturday and Sunday around 80 and no rain either day...
