  1. "Second Chance" Hmmm, but this is your 3rd Venture so that wouldn't fit. Guess you're gonna have to stick with "Crow"
  2. Yah Jeff!! I popped in at around 10:45 and said hello and you immediately POOF'ed...
  3. Jay, that's the best suggestion I've heard so far!! Hey, we can classify it as a handicap ramp and a necessity and get the Government to pay for it!!!
  4. What do you think, is it time for me to replace my bike cover???
  5. Well, not to defend their actions, but, I think the philosophy was the same as they have for guns. Destroy them or they will end up in the hands of criminals again...
  6. Freebird was converting 1st Gen stands to work on the 2nd gen, but he stopped. Larry, Carbon One makes a lift adapter that works exceptionally well...
  7. Interesting tool! I didn't use any tools at all to disassemble my calipers before installing, just used the worn out pads that came with the calipers first, then used air pressure to extend the pistons, took one pad out, extended them more until they popped out. What will happen is once one pops the rest will not but they are out enough to "convince" them to come out! Rebuild kits are fairly inexpensive The best ones to get are the R1 GOLD dot ones, they have the anodized aluminum pistons that will not rust or corrode and become sticky. The blue dots have steel pistons which can rust and bind. Not 100% sure but I think you have the years correct, I'm sure someone else will chime in... You might want to contact Skydoc_17, he might have the caliper in stock, and he supplies the rebuild kits as well.
  8. I don't really have any major heartburn over HANDS FREE phone usage, it's not much different than talking to a passenger. I DO have an issue with holding a phone up to your ear and trying to steer a car! Texting while driving is TOTALLY out of the question!!
  9. Sooooooo, whatcha gonna name this one??
  10. Yup!! I gots multi color strobes on mine...
  11. Do you have passing lights with the aftermarket light bar?? The light bar is prone to chaffing the wire where it enters/exits the light bar...
  12. RANDY!! RANDY!! Wake up Randy you're having a dream and typing in your sleep!

    Battery

Well then, chances ARE your battery is on the way out!! Keep in mind though, unless you have upgraded your battery cables to larger gauge cables and swapped your starter out for a 4 brush one, it is normal for 1st gens to start sloooow when hot...
  14. Ya know, as soon as I posted I was going to change "one" to "garage door opener" but I decided to see just who has the dirty mind...
  15. Ooh!!!!! That one is even smaller than mine!

    Battery

Yah!! If you can start the bike cold and it turns over normal, your battery is probably still OK!!
  17. Mine was on the garage floor Puc!!
  18. The Sylvania Silverstar Ultra is the cheapest way to go for a brighter headlight and costs waaaaay less than a good helmet, probably about 10% of the cost (less if you bought one of those $400 - $600 ones). It should run you less than $20, more like $15 at Wally World, so maybe you can still do both!! HID's and LED's are going to run you $60 to $100...
  19. Yup!! and helps make them water resistant as well!!
  20. Great to hear you are picking up the pieces and getting on with life Ed!! Let's hope and pray the next chapter is filled with joy and happiness and that you prosper!
  21. Yup!! I'm sure several of us have dropped a 1st gen due to that!! I dropped mine coming out of a country parking lot with a dip down before the road. Had to come to a stop at the edge of the road as I wasn't totally convinced nothing was coming. My foot went down, and down, and down...
  22. Getting back on topic, Old Sea Dog, you get that bike running yet???
  23. Yes, and removing the boots gives you a two fold benefit. It increases the surface area of the plug exposed to air so that it can evaporate better, and the same applies to the boot, especially the inside area where moisture has penetrated! Here's an interesting factoid. Pure water is actually an insulator!! It's the impurities within the water that turn it into a conductor!! A brand new plug wire is somewhat less likely to foul out as the exterior surface is relatively contamination free. With time, dust and other contaminants on the surface will tend to make them break down when combined with the deterioration caused by time. Back in the day a somewhat common problem for an older car to be hard starting either when it was raining, or very high humidity on the verge of raining. During normal weather the car would run fine, when it rained it could strand you! A new set of wires and distributor cap fixed it every time! A lot of the arcing was around the surface of the cap, especially on the inside where condensation tended to accumulate! WD40 was a quick temporary fix...
  24. Yup!! Per above I modify my statement to include ...or BE SEEN,
  25. Yup!! Got 'em on my bike too!! Ain't they pretty!??!
