  1. Well, I went with some higher end Kenwoods myself, they sound a whole lot better than the stock in the parking lot, but on the road they still sound like crap...
  2. Yes, the Otter is as close as they get to being Eck proof...
  3. You may have a problem with the "seating" of the multi pin connectors of the audio system inside the upper fairing, and not a fuse. If you find the fuses good, then split your front fairing. The audio system is just about in the center. One at a time, undo each connector, and spray some contact cleaner on each side of the connectors. Then, plug and unplug each side of the connector a few times to help the contact cleaner work. Before you connect for the final time, apply some dielectric grease to the connectors to keep moisture out. Do not get any of the grease on the metal pins or sockets. Don, I tried to copy and paste my copy of the owner's manual for him but was unsuccessful. I was also going to include the page that lists which fuse is what...
  4. If you mean the Snaggletooth studs for 1st Gens, I forgot who WAS making them...
  5. Hey, you can always buy a Mac...
  6. That's waaaay cool Eck!!
  7. Yah Art!! My old XP laptop sets on the workbench in the garage mainly to run service manuals etc on CD and DVD...
  8. OK I was under the understanding that, with the update, you could revert back to your original OS if you choose. I may be wrong about this, sometimes I am wrong! That being said, I updated from 7 to 10 shortly after they came out with it. There was a slight learning curve with the transition but overall it was fairly simple, and there are a couple of features I thought were nicer. However, like you Dan one of my installed games, Bejeweled3 will not load any more!! But, seeing as how I played the he!! out of it and had all the badges you could win, I really didn't care that much! There are probably other programs on my computer that might not work any more either but hey, if I haven't used them in years, so be it! Bejeweled is still on my computer, but when I click it, it does not load. I've switched to playing games on facebook, but be warned, many of them although free, end up requiring you to "buy" money or tokens in order to really accomplish anything! But of course you already know that by playing "Island Experiment, don't you Dan!!
  9. Hehehehehehehehehe!!!!
  10. Partially Dan, for the '83 the vacuum advance information is 180 degrees out of phase with the '84 up as to what the corresponding TCI uses, due to WHERE the vacuum is monitored. I wasn't sure if the sensor on later MK2 with the single pickup coil was any different, thanks to Kevin, and a little clearer thinking, I know they are the same. It was kinda late last night, I have a chest cold, and my brain is clogged up a little! But Yes, the point being there is a difference between the stock '83 TCI AND where the vacuum is taken from, and the '84 on up, that and the fact the later MK2's have only 1 pickup coil as opposed to two and the TCI's are not compatible between the two, AND the '83 is not compatible with either!! Thanks Dan! And thanks Kevin for setting me straight that the later MK2's used the same sensor.
  11. ..if you have a set of metric allen wrenches (and metric wrenches if you have passing lights) when you are on the road!
  12. OK Kevin, you got me on terminology!! Hey, it uses vacuum and has a variable voltage output corresponding to the amount of vacuum... EDIT:: NOW I see what you are talking about!! My bad, meant MK2 later edition. I was thinking there was a difference with the single coil one but I stand corrected!
  13. Mine is on my keychain, it's about the size of a car fob...
  14. The gist of it Jeff, the speaker grilles are outside mounted instead of internally mounted. On the second gen trunks, the rear speakers are mounted in cavities on each side of the trunk under the armrests...
  15. Yah!! +1 on the Otterbox, very rugged!! Yes, the fact of life is Verizon has the best coverage out there, where I live inside our home Verizon is the only one that works!! AT&T have to be next to a window to get any bars, the other bargain services, NADA!! Unfortunately, they also happen to be the most expensive service out there..
  16. There ya go!! I have seen pictures of them done on the dash as well...
  17. Gee, it only takes 10 - 15 minutes to split the fairing, then a minute or two max to change out the bulb...
  18. Yup! And, the pickup coil for ignition timing is a single coil, not two. You are going to have to use the TCI from a 91 - 93, and you will have to change out, or at least modify the ignition harness. You will need a vacuum advance from a newer 2nd gen as well...
  19. Oh Gawd!! The Democrats are invading Canada now???
  20. And yes, you can hear the CB through the speakers as long as "speakers" and not "Headset" is selected on the controller.
  21. Hmmm, seems I remember Marcarl having taken them apart a couple of times! Sorry, I never took the time to study exactly how they worked, I had a couple of spare soloenoid units off Ebay in case mine ever failed. Did the solder routine on mine, never had a problem. Even had a spare controller unit off Ebay as well..
  22. Yup!! Some people run zero psi in the front but I myself run a couple psi to prevent foaming...
  23. Not sure if a 4 x 6 would give you that much better sound, not much more cone area as opposed to going to a 6 to 6 1/2 inch round. The key to better sound reproduction is more real estate to move a bigger volume of air.. Just IMHO. I'm still trying to figure out how BOSE can get that much fidelity out of those teeny tiny speakers!!
  24. Hehehehehe!! Yah Puc, this thread got sooo hijacked from it's original subject, didn't it?!!?
  25. You have a special talent there Tooch...
