Purolator Oil Filters - 14610 & 14612
Bigdogcc replied to Du-Rron's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I do understand what you are saying. That said they don't recommend anything that they have not tested on that vehicle and will not recommend it for liability reasons. Filters are basically the same it boils down to some key features: # of pleats / surface area of the filter media, gasket footprint, flow rate, and the pressure setting in which it bypasses the filter. When I look at it like that I find it shocking and absurd that the value of a filter cause they stamp Yamaha on the outside some how makes a 6 buck filter worth 15. Mind you that 15 bucks has less surface area than others. They get away with it because there isn't huge volume and almost zero competition. Sorry if I came off as a dick (lack of sleep will do that). -

I find it funny in the motor cycle world we look down on other companies products but in Autos you will put anything in them you want. Maybe its based on cost, maybe perceived value but rarely ever do you take it to the dealer and let him put only original OEM spec products on your vehicle. Yet for a bike that is the only way to protect your investment? Then to look down or put down others for not buying OEM is kind of crappy. Its oil and filters not the heat deflectors on the Space shuttle, maybe lighten up. -

I just changed my oil and noticed a leak... So is this still an issue and if so what brand do we know that works? I need to replace it asap before I can ride again. How much oil am I going to lose changing it? -
That sir is perfect. Thank you. I will buy all the above but I am scared to pull the fairing...

Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_in_-2_p_89_20?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A228013%2Cn%3A%21468240%2Cn%3A551240%2Cn%3A13397641%2Cn%3A13398201%2Cn%3A6482937011%2Cn%3A573765011%2Cp_89%3AFirefly&bbn=573765011&ie=UTF8&qid=1464044337&rnid=2528832011 that said you do have to know how to set it. On my house opener there is a 12 dip switches and inside the little remote there is 12 I matched them up and it worked. IF you have a different style or less switches you just have to match it up. If you don't know see if you can get me a picture and I will help you find one.

OK so what needs done to replace the factory with a fire stick gen 2?
-
So why would I be told to look at that when talking in an article about a 2006? Is there something similar for a 2nd gen?
-
I keep reading about the firestick mod but the marshal page is down... Does anyone have a copy of it?
-
If anyone else has one Let me know...

Intercom and CB questions from a Neewbie
Bigdogcc replied to Bigdogcc's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Lots of great info sounds like I have to find a CB antenna. I am assuming I can listen through the bike speakers even though I don't have a head set which for now is fine. For the price of a head set (2x) I can buy 2 blue tooth units. The cable doesn't bother me that much but what does it having to buy and mount more stuff to tie the bluetooth into the bikes system. I want to talk to the wife but I also want to listen to the gps and make calls if necessary and I think the BT does that in a cleaner set up. Maybe if I can find a cheep headset that is wired I would get one as a back up in case I do need to talk on CB but I have to find anyone that uses it 1st to justify it in my mind. Thanks for all the great info and a few of you are a lot like me (I want to use the bikes built in) but in this case I think I will go a different direction. On another note is there a way to get more radio reception? Seems like a very limited system.
