  1. Nah....I'm not going to tell, I love to keep people in suspense. So in the next few months I'll get what I'm thinking about and then I'll spring it on you all
  2. Rich, Unfortunately Lonna took the biggest hit out of all of it. Myself, I ended up pulling a lot of muscles in my back. My chiropractor mentioned to me that I was lucky to have strong back muscles or it would have been a LOT worse. I'm sore right now and I'm walking a bit funny and very gingerly...but were alive, and that is due to one person only, who obviously has other plans for Lonna and I on this planet
  3. I didn't have one of the VR guardian bells on it, I had one my Brother in law gave us. Now that bell is somewhere in The Baton Rouge swamp dirt .....but it sure did serve it's purpose
  4. Now thats funny!!! BTW....I do know what my next G2 will be, I have always liked the '02 Platnum and Titanium, so that will be the next G2 I get.....but it wont be the next bike I own
  5. I was thinking of creating an alias just to get us to 4k
  6. Alan, I have friends that own a tire store and I change my own tires there on their car tire machine. You can clamp it on the inside of the rim and it works the same way. I will recant my statement of price as I thought about it and what Freebird mentioned, that might be a bit high. But depending on what kind of valves they install, valves can go up to $10 apiece. Shop it around and make sure if they balance it, that it's on a computer balancer.
  7. I have gotten quite a few chuckles out of this thread, and to answer a few statements..... Condor....no more '99's that was my last one Art (ADC) God was there with us...I'm sure of that Redneck....you are correct 1999 isn't our year Vance....That grass was a welcome sight when all was over, I know it saved both of us from LOTS of pain! Mike (Itmdb) Dont sell the farm yet, I'm not sure it was the commanders. There is a large gash on the otherside of the tire, I might have ran over something that I just didn't see in the road Wizard We are planning on another bike, Lonna has already said about getting on another one. We just have to get her healed up first Sleepy2 It happened Jan 2 at about 4:30 pm west of Baton Rouge Louisiana on I 10 and for everyone else...thank you for thinking of us. It is a miracle that we are alive, by all rights we shouldn't be here after a 70 mph crash. I firmly believe that God or his angels were there with us. I haven't been able to wrap my head around this yet, it defy's logic. I have lots of questions of why....but no answers yet. I can't begin to tell all of you how much it means to Lonna and I that you folks come on and tell us were in your thoughts and that your praying for us. We love all of you, and when we say that you are a part of our family, we truly mean it. Whats ours is yours, and the door is always open to all of our brothers and sisters here....Thank you all
  8. Sorry to hear of your loss Lyn, Never easy to loose a brother, I'm sure he will be missed by all that knew him...God speed to you and him.
  9. Alan, To be quite honest with you, dont screw around with them by hand. #1 it's a PIA to do and the right equipment isn't cheap and will give you headaches. If he's going to put new stems in and mount and balance, pay the money and chalk it up to the price of running the bike. I have hand broke many tires in my day, as I used to manage a tire store. The peace of mind you'll have that it is done right and your rim wont get scratched to me is worth it.
  10. Thanks Bruce, As soon as Lonna and I mend up from our accident we are planning on heading across the border to see him. It's good to hear that he is healing up and hopefully starting to move in a better direction
  11. Steve, I agree with the tire, you didn't see the other side of it where there is a 10" split in it. I'm not going to stop until I really know what happened to that tire. I dont believe that it was overloaded, and it wasn't hot that day so I rule that out too. Something to me just dont seem right as I know the pressure was good and at max, I never run them anyother way....time will tell.
  12. Alan, Not even going to waste my time trying to redo it, the bike is a total mess and it would never be right. After that jar the electronics would not have much life expectancy left....but thank for the offer buddy, we'll just have to have a maintenance day on whatever else I get
  13. Thats exactly what I feel like Howard, I dont remember the bike hitting the ground or being ejected from it. As I have looked at the pics, I see that the right side hit first. I believe it caught ground and threw me off, then following over to the left side where it slid and stopped. Lonna doesn't remember anything either, she doesn't know if she was thrown off. Just that when she was coherant to remember she was standing up. When I came to I was sliding on my head and back feeling my head bouncing off the ground. I immediately jumped up as the adrenelin was full bore and started yelling for Lonna. She was standing up in a daze and then we realised that she couldn't get her coat off which turned out to be her broken collar bone.
  14. We are too Jeff, I'm still amazed everytime I look at the pics. It really hasn't sunk in yet as there is still so many questions that I have about how it happened and why
  15. This is after Kenny (Kbran) and I picked it up at the tow yard. BTW in case your wondering....it fired right back up as soon as I hit the start button
  16. I know that some of you have waited paitently for some pics of whats left of my '99.....here are some for you
  17. Be safe my friend, I wish we could be there to see you folks. Tell the Navigator we say hello
  18. As much as I'd like to help you out Russell.....Ummmmm...NO But I'm sure we could get our hands on a 1st gen cheap that we could try and ressurect
  19. No worries...it's a new bell The other one is in the Louisiana dirt west of Baton Rouge off of I 10, it did it's job as we are here to tell the story BTW....I'm glad to be alive to be the butt of jokes
  20. Not good Lee Hopefully it will all be better soon and will warm up for some therapy riding
  21. I was glad before we totalled the bike that we got a nice ride in to visit with Hipshot and the gang down in Victoria TX about 300 miles round trip. The weather was perfect New Years Eve sunny and about 75.....I'll keep that day in my head until I can get another bike and go for another ride
  22. Bill....you have mail buddy
  23. Just a snippet here, My wife Lonna (Sweetnothing) is a type 1 diabetic, has been for going on 12 years. This is one of the books she purchased as she started to educate herself on Diabetes. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Book-Food-Counts-Fourth/dp/0440221102]http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Book-Food-Counts-Fourth/dp/0440221102[/ame] It has helped her tremendiously with controlling her diabetes. What I will add is forget about the ADA says as the majority of their advise didn't work in Lonnas case. Also dont think that the endrocronologist is the expert, Lonna went through 3 of them before she found a good regular practitioner who would take the time to answer her questions. The key is to educate yourself and apply what you have learned to YOUR life. Fred, If you want, Lonna has expressed that she would be more than willing to talk with you about what she has learned. Her cell # is in her profile and mine is in the VR assistance page. The phone is always on and please feel free to call with whatever questions you have. Hang in there buddy, if we can help folks fix bikes all over the world, we can get you steered in the right direction
  24. Keep us all in the loop and let us know what he needs, thank you for the update and as always, the family is in our thoughts
  25. Eck, I'll just add that I have known of several Ventures, both 1st and 2nd gen that have sudden battery death syndrome. It might be that folks have lots of added elecrical goodies on the bikes, but I find that I'll replace a battery if it's older than 2 years. For the $100 you might spend on a good battery, it's good insurance to not be broke down due to a stupid battery
