A follow up to the idiot who posted a you tube video of himself going 300KPH (186MPH) through traffic just outside Victoria B.C. The guy is 25 and has lost his licence 5 times so far. In my opinion he should go to jail. His motorcycle is registered in his mothers name. As the registered owner she is responsible for it. She has been ticketed $1449.00 for driving without due care ($368.00), excessive speed ($483.00), not having insurance ($598.00). Charges are pending against her son.

can't even trust a hooker these days (story link)
Sailor replied to midnightrider1300's topic in Watering Hole
Agreed, he is an idiot and a moron. What about the two that set him up? They are thieves and attempted to murder him with the kid right there. It does not say if he was married or a single father. -
In the past I drove ambulance and was designated first aid on the ships. When I took my courses the question of liability came up. We were told that as long as we had our certificates we were bound to help anyone who needed it to the best of our ability and we could not be sued. I had a go round with the company over this when they insisted that since they had provided the course I was to only help the crew members and not passengers. I replied that the law was that I had to help everyone. They backed off. That is how it works in B.C.

I rode north to Kaslo and New Denver. Had a close encounter of the bear kind just outside Balfour. Rain started pounding down at New Denver and continued all the way back to Nelson. The guys who went south had decent weather. Next day I went to Balfour and across the lake and down to Creston. It started to rain at Creston and was pounding down through the pass and all the way back to Nelson. The guys who went north had not too bad weather. Next day I took a short ride and had pounding rain on the way back. When I left Nelson, a day after everyone else, I hit heavy rain just outside Nelson, then hail. It rained hard all the way to Grand Forks where I hit rain, hail, high wind, thunder and lightening. I don't like gassing up in a lightening storm. Rain all the way to Osyoos where, once again, I hit hail. At one point I was down to second gear. Rained nearly all the way to Hope where it finally stopped. No rain until I was 2k from the ferry terminal where it poured down. I missed the three o'clock ferry by five minutes so had to wait two hours to get home. Get to Saltspring and the sun is finally shining.

Thanks Rick, Nina, et. al. for all the hard work in organizing a great event. Seriously considering changing my name from "Sailor" to " Rain maker" or "Rain man"

My bike is a 2nd gen. She may hate bikers but she knows a good bike when she sees one.

Hey Black Owl..that isn't a white hat, it is my hair. lol

Bet the end comes off and an aluminum keg slides in and connects to the spout.
-
Nah Kevin. If you were on your bike she never saw you.

I was at the grocery store today standing beside my bike. An elderly lady came up to me and said " I hate you bikers, but that sure is a nice bike.":rotf:

Wolo works! Had an old geezer come out of a side road yesterday. He was going to go right over me. I cut loose with the wolo and I swear he jumped so high his head hit the roof.

News in today's Time Colonist paper. A woman pled guilty to impaired driving causing death. She went over the centerline and hit a motorcyclist head on just outside Victoria B.C. She was apparently high on booze and crack cocaine at the time. The motorcyclist had recently moved out here from Ontario and his family was still back there. Two rows of the public gallery in the courthouse were filled with bikers showing support for the family.

Why I won't put off life...
Sailor replied to darthandy's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
When people ask me why I live the way I do ( as if there is no tomorrow....because there might not be) I tell them that when I am in the nursing home or on my death bed i want to be able to smile and say " I am glad I did" not frown and say "I wish I had". -
OK ... what's with this BARRAGE of SENIOR jokes??
Sailor replied to SilvrT's topic in Jokes and Humor
I did my bit to keep the population going and now my sons are out there doing their bit. I think it is just that us Canadians have so little to complain about ( other than politicians) all we can complain about is getting older. That being said......what was I saying?- 17 replies

On the ships I was on the radar will not show a human or fiberglass, or wood. All it shows is the engine. It can be tuned down to pick up a beer can but not a kayak with someone in it. That is why we call them speed bumps. It will pick up the water on a kayak blade or on plastic or wood.

I have noticed that the electronic roadside display which shows your speed are accurate when I am in a vehicle but are wildly inaccurate when I am on my bike. So how accurate are the police radars when it comes to bikes? Any study been done on that?

What a wealth of information available here. It is great. And now for you LEO's one I bet you haven't heard before. A blond just got pulled over in a radar trap just outside Vancouver. She was doing 115Kph in a 50KPH zone. She accused the officer of targeting blonds. Claimed he would not have pulled her over if she were brunette. Because she was going over twice the speed limit she not only got a fine but had her car impounded for 7 days. True story.

Do not launch at low tide. There is a boat launch here and we all know not to use it at low tide. One guy decided to. He got stuck, then the guy he called for help got stuck, then the next guy got stuck. Finally they got a guy with a long line who got them all out. I saw a guy who was smart. He had a trailer hitch on the front bumper as well so he could drive in front first. It was a cement ramp and he launched at low tide. The bottom half of the ramp was covered with seaweed. He hit that and just kept going right up to the window sills.

They used to use aircraft here. The lines are still there but they have quit using the plane...too expensive. I know there must be scatter that is picked up by the detector because all three times it went off we were in heavy traffic and none of the patrol cars were in sight.
