  1. Thing is to keep your chains as tight as possible. Many times we think that we need to have at least so much slack. Best to set the trailer at 90 degree angle and then measure the chains. Chains that are properly crossed and have the right length should catch the tongue before it hits the road or catches the back wheel, if it should become disconnected. Yes if it does come apart, there will be a reaction to the bike and the rider will have to contend with the result, but if the chains are too loose, the tongue can dig into the road and then all h3ll will break loose.
  2. Best thing for me would be to have in Ontario,,,, but then who would come???
  3. What does the voltage at the battery do under the same conditions?? at the fuse box??
  4. Nope, they should be nice and snug. Should be available from your dealer at about $6 each. I do not suggest to use a sealer on them as the sealer might get into the jets and really screw things up.
  5. I wouldn't hang them on my scoot,,,, it's kind of like trying to tell people that's all I have, just what's hanging there and that's why I have to show you,,,, I'd much sooner surprise them with a demonstration if needed,,, and that leaves a lasting impression.!.
  6. Darn,, I had a couple of those looking just like that,,, could have started a real business and had Saddlebum on the road in no time,,,,, so guy, wish I would have known the in's and out's,,, something new to learn everyday,,, turn it upside down,,, who'd of thought???? Best get some other drugs Puc,,, you keep this up and we'll be saving all of the first gens soon.
  7. I agree,, wouldn't take the time to put that thing in the scoot. Just as a note of interest,,,, some people consider a battery is considered dead @ 11volts, but definitely dead @ 10volts. I think we tend to think that all the volts need to disappear for the battery to be dead, but that is just not the case. A good battery should show at least 12.5v even after a day, but maybe not after 6 months, considering that nothing is connected to it.
  8. You might have drained your battery.... it is a possibility,,,if you forgot to turn something off,,,,, but it's more likely that you have a failed battery, or a problem in your charging system. From where you are to home your battery won't last. A good battery might, I said might, get you to my place, and from there you might get home. You could tell us what they found when they checked your battery, or were they not smart enough for that as well. Hey, if you can charge a battery to do a check, couldn't you do a regular charge as well... I know they are really different, and there's new rules governing charging a dead battery, but me I'm not that smart and would just charge it the conventional way and hope the Gov doesn't notice. If you do decide to ride, I would unplug the headlight. The headlight draws the most current and will kill your battery a lot sooner. I could come over tonight to check the system and the battery, and if you want, bring a new AGM battery with me as well if I can find one. Need to have an excuse to ride and now I have one, if you can wait til then.
  9. Sending prayers for Beth and you as well.
  10. I would say that under the circumstances he would not get any benefits at,,, I mean with all that family available to look after him there should be no reason to. Now if he only had a few relatives, then I would suggest a large benefit package, seeing he would have to deal with such things as his caregivers getting old and decrepit.
  11. Are you,,, do you think,,, YOU might need a heater???
  12. So you think,,,,, at the motel we had to cut our evening short from all the noise.
  13. Two things I take away from this statement,,,, first is, he must have been good looking,,, and second, he might have been spending time with you and just hadn't been able to get a word in edgewise.
  14. My dad had a dairy farm. I was 6 when he bought it. Wasn't allowed to fork hay into the mangers til later sometime. Was told I was more dangerous with a pitch fork than the Russians were with their bombs. From washing teats and sweeping floors I graduated to cleaning gutters when I was tall enough to crank up the litter carrier while standing on a box, later that carrier became a wheel barrow and there was a time or two that I did a face plant in the soft stuff it carried. First real job was delivering feed in 100lb bags. Was 16-17 then and carried 2 bags at a time, couldn't see the use of walking from one end of the barn to the other with only 1 bag. Yep 16 and foolish. Then it was on to butchering and the rest is history. Now I'm out of work but can't seem to catch up with anything,,, even the riding is only here and there,,, only got out twice today.
  15. Don't you have some work you can do today???
  16. It's not done yet,,,, rode back from WNY rally and was quite pleased,, although I could at times feel a slight thumping, but thought it could be my head doing funny things. Yesterday I went out and lo and behold it was back with a vengeance,,,not the front though, now I know this is in the rear. Before at times it was hard to determine, so the alignment and new skins did solve the front end issue,,, but now what's with the back,,, had it taken off at Pioneer and balanced and rechecked and then checked again. Now this bounce. The rear is an inside\outside tire, Kumho,Ecsta Ast Ku25, runs fine until about 80kph, and then rattles my back teeth if I had them.
  17. Check the vent for the gas tank. Could be that the engine heat is heating the fuel as it sits. If the vent is blocked the added pressure could push fuel into the carbs. Might not happen if the tank is half empty because it can't build enough pressure to get by the float valves,,,,, long shot I know,,,,,, but having a properly working vent is also nice to know.
  18. Gotta meet this guy,,, who did he tow for??? out-talk Saddlebum???? now there is a feat,, he is a rare one indeed!!!
  19. Congrats you two,, always nice to have more kids, 'specially the grand ones.
  20. Nope!!! don't wear a hat, much less a bandana,,, couldn't have been me!
  21. Tooch,,,,,, don't ever, never let me say that you are slow to understand,,,, you got this one dead in your sights,,,,,, just waiting to hear what the reply might be.
  22. T'was a great rally,,, or maybe better called retreat. A time to be able to leave all your troubles elsewhere and if you couldn't leave them, you wouldn't have time to worry over them anyways. Just so many friends and great people to meet and click with,,,, right from the time you get up (coffee from Timmies @ Bens, thanks Jay) to the time you fall over in bed. Company was such as is wished for, food went down with no issue, you never needed to be thirsty, and if you sat in a corner to silently watch the proceedings?? somebody would be sure to join you. Thanks to the crew that put this together,,, can't wait for the next time we can make it. Special thanks for Pioneer Motorsports for their input and their involvement without expecting anything in return,,,,, just awesome!!!
  23. Ya if you had stopped on the American side we would have had to pay import duties, and seeing as duty folks would have no idea of both the relics sitting there, (sorry Relic) what they were made of, where they were made, or what they present value would be,,,, hey!!!! you might still be there for the next rally while they argued about value, HST, immigration rights, rights of aliens, sound bites and noise levels, safety of any opposite sex, and whether there would be any available sponsors in Canada. Yep, glad you made it over,,,, our taxes would be going up just to cover the extra cost involved.
  24. So finally an update, hopefully the last one. Done an alignment on the front, installed new sneakers on the front and this past weekend had Pioneer Motorsports check and balance thee rear wheel. Seems the whole bounce issue was a combination of all told. The front end was out of line, right side was toed out which cupped the front tires. Did the alignment and it was a different machine for sure,, not that it was bad before, but the work did make a noticeable difference in the tracking and handling. Still had some bounce,, so,,, I replaced the cupped tires,,, now that again made a difference, but not the total cure,,, so Pioneer was good enough to pull the rear tire, check it for balance, and found it to be out by 1-3\4 oz. Removed all the weights and then need 1.5 oz to balance. Now we are happy campers,,, motelers. During having the work done on my 2014, PMS was good enough to lend me a brand new (700 miles) demo. Same issues there, so I informed Hank the service manager of my opinion, and he thanked me,,,, nice guy,,,, nahh,,,,, REAL NICE guy. Hopefully this ends as it is. Thanks Brenner for your input.
