  1. Louyzy job you did Abdul, we got rained on out of Buffalo, but I must say it wasn't too bad didn't have to stop for rain gear and the sun came out to dry us off. Thanks for your efforts. Now work on tomorrow will ya!!!
  2. Guess we heard nothing to this point, so that means they are controllable or Big Tom is incapacitated. Let's be hoping they didn't eat all the food or ice-cream.
  3. Well you can be stoned if you like, but Marca and I will be rockin' , but then you never know.
  4. If your slides were not moving or hard to move and the diaphragms were loose and the steel insert was part-way out, I would suggest that you have cracked slides. The crack are not that hard to miss, more difficult to see than you would think, but once cracked even any glue you could put in the crack to bond it back together would make it too large to properly slide in the bore. Only thing to do is to replace them.
  5. Them the roads we love, taking it easy (easier than you) and just enjoying the country side. Sometimes the gravel would get too deep and we would find another road to travel on. Sometimes it would get a bit dusty, but never soooo dusty that Saddlebum wouldn't want to stick it out, seemingly he loves gravel as well.
  6. Wow!! your shadow must be getting older as well if it couldn't keep up with you, or maybe it was just getting fed up with ya and decided to stay put until you got back to your scoot.
  7. I thought if I left this subject long enough someone would get the itchies and post it up. I figured it would be somebody who didn't know where he or she was going. As for us, the plan is to leave about 9:30 am Thursday, catch the train and ride quietly along until we need to stop. When we go to cross the border, hopefully we'll have a nice border guard for you just never know what Marca might come up with, and then head out to some town called Chaffee. Hopefully as well Marca won't forget her passport Actually, we plan to ride through the Penninsula, cross in Fort Erie, take 190 and then 90 to 219 and then the 319 through a place called Boston to Springville. In Springville we'll decide if that is far enough or if we complete the trip to Chaffee Lodge. If you like you can join us. Don't forget your rock!!
  8. I see a MC sitting on the side of the road with no rider in sight, a hill or rise in the land covered mostly in trees, a white birch towards the foregound and a dead looking bush. The side of the road has a curb and the shoulder looks paved, there seems to be another lane for traffic just beyond the lane the MC is parked beside, but the most interesting are the tracks on the pavement going across the foreground lane of pavement. Also interesting is that there seems to be no sign of any activity in the grass shoulder from the vehicle that might have made those tracks, unless it's been a while since those tracks were made.

She sure do look good on that there machine, and you can tell her I said so!! Maybe that's why youz sitting there watching her? but hey, she sure do look good anytime, well at least whenever I sees her.
  10. On the drain thing. There are drain tubes and overflow tubes. The drain tubes come out the side of the crab and the overflow tubes come out under the bike. The slide would really have nothing to do with overflowing fuel, although fuel in-between the slide and bore could possibly hang up the slide somewhat. On the slide not sliding, check that slide real close, it might be cracked at the open side right close to the rings that hold the diaphragm. A crack could easily be missed. If it's cracked it will hang up.
  11. I don't have one, but that would not be welcome in my department. Look to see if you can snug up the cables, other than that take it to the dealer. It shouldn't be a difficult fix I would think.
  12. The real cost is in the cost of gaskets and labor. Doesn't matter much as far as the gears are concerned. Either way the dogs will need to be dressed. When I did mine in 08 or so, it cost me about $200 in all the parts if I remember correct and most of that was gaskets and o-rings and such.
  13. No sealant required, unless you see cracking on the inside of the boots, but then it's time to replace. They are a bit of an issue to get seated properly though. It takes a bit of going around and around to get them all down, but they do snap into place eventually. Check, check and re-check and then check once more and you should be good to go and Jane is your aunt.
  14. There's a story about an older fella going in for a haircut and beard trim. He had a rather long beard. The barber asked him if he could ask a question and the old boy said, yes of course. So the barber asked, 'when you go to bed at night, is your beard above the blanket or below?' The old gaffer thought for a bit and then thought some more, and finally admitted that he didn't know, he just went to bed and was done with it. That night turned out to be a sleepless one for him. Nothing felt right, he put his beard on top of the blanket and then below, but it just wasn't right, he even tried half and half. Next day he was back at the barbers and had it shaved off. Now how does this have to do with Cowpuc? First of all, you have something to read. Second, it might be a delema that he has right now and can't get around it. Could be that he forgot how the tent goes on the bike, and you just can't do that wrong now can ya!
  15. Good enough reason for me to stay here in S.Ontario.
  16. I'm thinking that a good shop needs to have dirty floors, cobwebs in the corners, lots of cobwebs, parts in all the spots not covered by running apparatus, lights here and more lights there with no real way to turn them off individually maybe, tools everywhere with an empty tool chest, left over pieces of projects long gone into history but yet could be handy somewhere down the road, a source of heating the place (best a wood fired stove) an old chair or two that will handle the bulk and weight of anybody, but that nobody ever uses,,,,,,, sorry, no pictures! and oH a fridge, doesn't have to work real well, but it's good for looks (everybody gets to look in it)
  17. Sounds like something that Bongobobny could delve into for ya, and there are others as well. Hang in there, it's riding time but they will come home to roost soon enough and then they can figure it out while popping their wobbly.
  18. Keep us posted as to how long it stays that way, could be something brewing, me thinks.
  19. Now I need to bring a truck!! At least my backyard will be cleaned up, but then again maybe not, those American boys might be thinking that I'm bringing over cannon balls. I'll have to see if I can disguise them somehow.
  20. Looks like you took the 'flywheel' off as well. That rod goes into the hollow bolt that holds the flywheel in place. It helps with moving oil to the outside to cool the stator windings. Don't know if your dog will get fleas but your cat won't run away no more, unless you get it put together right.
  21. Amazing!!!! Enjoy your day and don't let Becky fool you into going out for supper.
  22. These would be the diaphragms for the sliders. Cover for them is on the outside of the carb, square, held in place with 4 screws.
  23. I would remove the last 2 plates as well and then remove the basket to see what there is to see. Using an air impact will convince the basket to come forward.
  24. Now you be careful with those two,,, you know how Vikings can be, 'course you should be alright, you do have Taters as a backup.
  25. I had me one of those wide track Pontcoes, but it was a 4 door hardtop with a 261 6 banger, 3 speed stick. When I traded it in on a Morris wagon it was using more oil than gas I think, had a can of used oil in the trunk to keep it going. The guy that bought it from the dealer a day later got about 2 miles before it blew. Now the Morris got to the point that I carried head gaskets in the back seat along with the necessary tools to change it. I got pretty good at that procedure, if I remember it was about 45 minutes to get it all done. Head gaskets were supplied by the mechanic who said that he could fix it the first time and failed, and then after having it in the shop for the third time, he said, here are a dozen gaskets and this is how you change them. I hope you sell it soon. I did when the gaskets were all used up. Then I got me a 66 VW. It died as well, the day after I traded it for the first Mazda 1200 sold in Ont.
