  1. Lots of hot water sitting there just giving off heat, that needs to be re-heated. Keep in mind that electric is much slower in response time than gas, I wouldn't go to electric just for that item. Now gas, once it senses water flow, fires immediately to high performance and the water is HOT, it then cuts back to where it is needed and will constantly adjust the burner to keep the temp at set point. If you usage point is far away from the heater, it will take about the same time for hot water to arrive,,, well a bit longer, but then it doesn't run out either. On the other hand, if you shut off the water flow and then restart, you will get a shot of cooler temp. A good heater will stay active for a couple of minutes after the water is turned off, just to compensate for this type of an event. There are setups available to overcome this and have instant hot water at all times at all locations, but then you will have hot water 'sitting' in a line somewhere giving off heat.
  2. Yep, down at the bottom, somewhere near close.
  3. We don't use a restricted head on our shower. Yes, it does take a certain amount of flow to activate the heater, not sure how much, but a trickle won't make it turn on. There are different specs for different heaters and then there are also a variation of setups that can tailor to your likes and dislikes. We are presently looking for one for my daughters house and look to be settling on a Navien.
  4. I think you found it!! :happy65:
  5. We have had a demand water heater (we don't heat our hot water, just the cold water), natural gas and handles over 8 gpm. We have only one shower. We could not be happier. It saves room, we're never, never short of hot water, I can wash my car, my bike, my truck, my RV and my boat (if I had one) all lined up one after the other and then have a hot shower, and it's far cheaper on NG. Some things to consider: How many gpm do you need How many gpm will your plumbing handle There is no recovery time Demand water heater specs are based on raising the water temp so many degrees at the rated gpm It does take time to get the first of the hot water, and if you shut the water off, the heater is off as well, so keep your shower running while in there. Your tank water heater heats your space as well due to heat loss, not so bad in the winter maybe, but it also happens in the summer the same way. Do you use AC? then that heat will have to be removed. It's the only way to go, we were worried when we first installed it, but wouldn't go back.
  6. I decided to go CanAM, not because I had to, but it seemed like the right thing to do. I had dropped the 85 a couple of times, but there was always a good reason, so dropping it because of itself was not listed. Marca developed a bad knee for a while and had a pain in her back which made it very difficult for her to get on the 85 while I was on it. There was no way she was climbing aboard by her self and then it would be too much for me to lift anyways, so an alternative was in the making and the Spyder presented itself very nicely. The last couple of years she hasn't ridden that much, and no daylong rides anymore either, actually riding has taken a backseat to other things, and that is somewhat due to other things and the weather, so we'll see what happens for the future. Whatever,, we are happy with 3 wheels, power assist steering, stable at the gas pumps, no issues in farmers fields and good gas mileage. Even use car tires.
  7. I would consider how the joints would transfer around the bends, or would they be just stiff enough to put a damper on the negotiation. I also agree with Blue Sky. I have no idea what financial shape you are in, but most of us save up for retirement so that we don't have to work until death due us part. Maybe a good idea to use some of that, rather than to keep saving it for the time of when your gone. Not an easy decision, I know, I'm Dutch.
  8. These seem to be a bare bones Spyder. I sat on one at Pioneer Motor Sports in Chaffee NY. It wasn't gassed yet, so couldn't ride it, along with the weather wasn't very conducive. It sat fine though for a short time and did allow me to think about driving it. Less than 10 grand. I think the 600 was at 85k
  9. If you are still running the OEM fuse block, better change that first.
  10. If you can, squirt a bit of carb cleaner or WD40 into the intake as it's running. If the cylinder fires, it's not spark, if it doesn't respond check for spark, fouled plug, loose wire, bad resistor,,,,,,
  11. You have my condolences. May you find many blessings as you gather to remember how good it was to have him be there with you through part of your life.
  12. Getting an original quote of 10 grand sure makes 1800 sound cheap eh? Well at least you can help out and feel right about that, and then your pop-py problems should be good for a while.
  13. There are 3 off them on one bank. Take them apart carefully, the screws tent to find hiding places where no eye has seen, and the little springs inside tend to hop off with the easter bunnie. Once apart and all the parts are safe and secure, clean things up, and check the the seats where the rubber on the end of the plunger sits. If it's rough, put some fine steel wool on the end of a small wood dowel (don't use a drill bit) inserted into a variable drill and carefully polish the seat, then reinstall all the parts, no lubricant ( it will only collect dust). There is another solenoid in the exhaust line that also needs to be cleaned as well as the intake filter that is in the intake line (really?). It is in the rubber line and will pop apart easily. Any more questions, plz ask.
  14. 1st gen is 83 to 89, 83 to 85 being MrkI and 86 to 89 being MrkII. 99 to 13 are 2nd gen
  15. Seems that no matter what we do, there always seems to be a lack of common sense, even with drones,,,, so we need to be told what common sense may look like, hence,,,regulations!!!

  18. Just thinking out loud here. Have you considered using a corrugated plastic pipe, the non-perforated type? I know being smooth on the inside would be desirable, but I would tend to like to think about it anyways if I were you.
  19. I can feel your pain. My daughter bought a house and took possession 1st of Dec, it was built in 1933 and never really updated. It was decided to upgrade the basement to be usable so some dirt had to come out, 11 tons worth, all removed by 5 gal pails half full. She then wanted to put a bathroom down there but the sewer goes out 1 foot above the floor, so she dug a pit for a sewer basin, then decided after more family input that there was a better location and so filled in the first one as she dug the second one. She then ran into a super deal on a stackable washer and dryer so now the pit is in a different location again. The pit is 24" wide, 30" deep all in coarse sand and river stone. There was no concrete floor in that section of the basement, so that was a bonus. We is a little weee bit stiff and tired right now.
  20. [h=2]Cost and delivery[/h] [h=3]Cost[/h] $40 Note: you will also have to pay for your driver’s licence fee. Please note, the temporary driver’s licence you receive before your card is ready for pickup cannot be used to travel to the United States. [h=2]Renewing an EDL[/h] The EDL is valid for 5 years. It must be renewed every 5 years at a ServiceOntario centre that offers the service. You will receive a renewal reminder with a renewal form 2 to 3 months before it expires. To renew, you will need to visit a ServiceOntario centre that offers EDL services and: bring your EDL as proof of identity and citizenship complete the renewal form included in the renewal reminder fill out a renewal questionnaire pay the renewal fee plus the cost of renewing a driver’s licence (and any other fee or fine applied to you) We will keep your current EDL, however, a temporary driver’s licence will be issued to you for use until your new EDL arrives by secure delivery. You may also choose to pick it up at a ServiceOntario centre. A temporary driver’s licence cannot be used for entry into the United States. So it sounds like: Yep, it can work, but then it might just depend on the US border guards and you'll still have to get in line to wait your turn. I don't think it's a Nexus card. Terror and trouble is nothing new here, we are NORTH of the border and can handle whatever comes our way. Iffin we don't like it, we leave them snowed in!!
  21. An older man told me once that a man never dies while he is working. You might not agree, but think about it, open your mind to the facts as they come. Maybe that's why folks keep us working, they like to have us around a while longer.
  22. Thanks Ben for setting this up and for such a short speech, that is unlike you, even when you don't speech but just trying to extend mine. Good to see all you folks again, the pretty ones as well the others. I liked the way Dogman managed to get a stand-in for Bernie, don't know how he managed to find her, or get permission to take her, but it's something to keep in mind. Maybe you could give lessons on that Dave now that you're retired. Give Bernie our best and tell we missed her please. As usual, food was good, and the company couldn't have been better, looking forward to the next time we get together. Hopefully Abdul took some pictures????
  23. Very similar in my life once, and then later again, got the idea that sometimes it helps, to get her take on the problem at hand. We built an addition to our house in 98 with a walkout in the basement, all concrete. We dug a 3' pit and filled it with gravel for drainage, don't know why because it's all sand there, but we did because that is what you do I guess. Anyways, when it rained the bottom landing would fill with water somewhat and then slowly drain away, until one night it poured buckets and the water level was over the door sill and going higher. We went to bed and I told her we would probably have some water to clean up come morning, so we talked about it for a bit and she said, why don't you use a plunger? Notice she said 'you'!! Nice of her, seeing as it was raining cats and dogs, I had no rain coat and was going to get soaked if I tried her trick,,,, but, as a good husband I took her idea and went to work with it, found the plunger and went outside, no shirt, no shoes, no boots, no pants,,,,,,(enough already) and down into the walkout out. Two feet of water was now nicely pooled at the bottom, but the door seal held nicely, so with tool in hand I went 'swimming'. Found the drain hole, plunged it twice and watched as the water level lowered to the floor in about 15 seconds. I say she smart!!!, I'm decided there and then that she was going to be a keeper. The next step would be how to get her to demonstrate her ideas,,, still working on that one!!
  24. Antigua???? Where's that at?? How come you don't stick around here? How can I visit when you're never home? Coffee ready yet?
  25. For those who plan to attend, I look forward to seeing you, maybe the first time and hopefully not the last time. For those of you who are sitting on the fence,,,, get off that fence and come and enjoy some good company, meet some awesome people, see if I can get Evan and Ben to talk together, and enjoy some of the best food this side of where-ever. The time is 6:30pm, but don't expect Ben to be early,,, he can walk over. If you are not planning to come, then you'll be missing out and you'll just have to settle for the pictures that might or might not be posted sometime after the event, and your comments will be late in time. If you think it's too far to go,,,, you might be right, but you could also be wrong,,,,, why take the chance. If you think the weather might play a part in this? don't worry!!! there is a Holiday Inn just across the street and they have lots of rooms. If your GPS says you can't get there from where, then either get a new GPS or move to another location. If you live in Florida, you still have time. If you live in California, you may get lost. If you live in Germany, fly Air Canada. If you live in Australia, come-on over and get right side up. If you can't speak English, then you'll be in good company.
