  1. I have a set. Brown pads. Not being used. PM Me.
  2. Finally had a dry, semi warm morning so I rode to work today.
  3. There is no oil pressure warning light on the Gen 1 that I am aware of. Only a level warning. Which can come on even when the fill level is correct, under high acceleration or on and extreme grade hill situation.
  4. I've never had any issues with the spin on filter adapter. Are you sure you are using the correct filter? I use Purolater L25288 cans. If you have the same adapter I do, it will have several holes drilled into the edged of the adapter plate. Just use a drift punch or a larger cross tip screw driver stuck into the holes to turn it off counter clockwise. Make sure you have all the parts for the factory filter canister and stack them in the right order.
  5. You do have the air box and intake sleeves off, right? Personally, I've always pulled the carbs to get at the valves.
  6. I'm likely to be flamed for this, but Helmets are inclement weather gear and stunt/sport kit. I would never run a hair scramble or Moto GP with out a helmet but if it ain't raining or snowing, I don't cover up on the highway. That said, I use cheap Hawk (Leather up.com) modular helmets because they keep me dry and warm and don't break the bank.
  7. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/1986/xvz13dsc/carburetor $13.86 from partzilla.com Item # 8
  8. Not what the OP is looking for but, The A/F mixture screw assy. is still available from Yamaha at a very reasonable price. You can't get just the spring though.
  9. Cool! I checked about 15 different vanity codes related to the Beast and all were taken. Then I realized how stupid expensive vanity plates are in Ohio and I was glad everything was taken!
  10. My insurance Co.(not Geico) is also issuing a dividend discount of 25% this year.
  11. The screws hold the pivot internals together. They have nothing to do with securing the back rest assembly to the side mounts. You spread the down tubes of the backrest assembly and press the diamond stubs into the diamond holes then insert the hitch pins or cotter pins to secure it. It should then rotate forward to get out of the passenger's way. To remove the back rest, pull the hitch pins then grab one leg of the back rest and pull it out and up to clear the side mount.

  13. Just food for thought. I am still getting used to the cruise control controls and I find if I am not actually looking at the right control pod I have a tendency to hit the cruise control cancel switch when I am trying to hit the start button.
  14. I installed the trunk lid luggage rack on Beauty today. Considering side bag lid guards as well.
  15. The 1986 XVZ13D (S-E) Factory Service Manual list the valve cover bolt spec to be 7.2 ft-lb or 10 Nm In reality, you are probably not going to get a torque wrench on all of them anyway. The valve cover bolts bottom out on a shoulder and the rubber cushion is what tightens the cover down on the gasket. Just bottom them out and give a good added snugging. Or, as my motor pool Msgt. used to say, torque them to "Gutentight". ETA: As usual, Marcarl beat me to the punch!
  16. An old school carb clean method is to mix lemon juice concentrate and distilled water 1/1 and heat to boiling on a hot plate. Dump the whole carb in and simmer for several hours. This can sometimes smell pretty bad. I wouldn't do it in the kitchen. after everything cools down clean it up with non chlorinated brake parts cleaner. This method does not destroy the rubber bits that are not already completely unserviceable.
  17. With Ohio shut down and my job, unaccountably (I provide service and essential parts supply to every major pharmaceutical company and medical research center in the country) deemed non essential I have been working from home so I have had a good bit of free time lately. Kris is laid off for the foreseeable future So far I have upgraded the lighting in the master bath and kitchen to controllable LED fixtures(also a new incandescent vanity light in the bathroom), installed new, seat height, elongated bowl, high efficiency water closet fixtures upstairs and down, picked up ceramic tile, a new shower stall and all necessary sundries to remodel the downstairs apartment bathroom, and carpet tiles for the rest of the downstairs floor plan. Kris and I have been providing daycare for the grand daughter as my son is the only one of us still putting in 40 hours a week outside of the house. This makes getting the above mentioned projects done a bit of a challenge. As it happens, it is possible though not confirmed that our whole family has contracted the WuFlu and recovered with only mild symptoms. It's also possible that we all just coincidentally had minor colds and or flu. Your guess is as good as mine. All in all, we're all good here!
  18. Yeah, I already screwed up. I spent the day upgrading the kitchen and master bath lighting. I'll dedicate tomorrow to following the CDC's directive to be a hermit. Hmm, I need to take stock of the liquor cabinet.
  19. I paid $1.79/gal last week. I see prices from $1.79-$2.00/gal in the NE Ohio area. The Cincinnati are was slightly higher a few days ago
  20. I just ordered this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B085RQWRQT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The plan is to mount it on the trunk luggage rack when needed.
  21. This web store still has the REDA cans listed and they also have another brand that is of similar design. http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id357.html
  22. A Nova by any other name is still a POC:2cents: Nova, Omega, Ventura, Appolo; Every broke teenaged motorhead's salvation in the '80s
  23. PM sent. Prayers up. Give our best wishes for speedy recovery to your daughter in law.
  24. So, white smoke is not good from anywhere. But, please clarify where, exactly you see white "smoke"( is there any chance it's steam?) The '83 will run right on the red line of the temp gauge. The fan should kick on when the needle hits the red. That is normal.
  25. another one https://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ13-XVZ-1300-Rear-Fender-Tail-License-Plate-A5/193358682319?hash=item2d051358cf:g:J5AAAOSwoBtW6uqb:sc:USPSFirstClass!44429!US!-1
