  1. My son attended the MMI in Phoenix and took the Yamaha Factory Certification course. He finished either first or second in his class, not sure which. He was hired by a motor sports shop in Texas(multiple mfg.) through the placement program before graduating. They had him doing prep on bikes from all mfg. Then they had him servicing generators from the oil fields. All stuff he had never seen before. much less been trained on. That lasted a couple weeks before they told him he wasn't hitting the book time and they had to let him go. He went from there to another Texas shop a couple hundred miles away and it was the same story. He then found out the owners were brothers. When He came back to Ohio he could not find any work at any Yamaha dealerships or any of the multi company power sports shops. He's working on a tow boat on the Ohio river these days.
  2. Sounds like a plan to me. I don't get to Utah very often, but I do have a good customer in BYU, so it's a possibility. Is your moniker a self deprecating comment on your cooking skills or do you own a Moto Guzzi?
  3. Sitting in North Syracuse, enjoying a Southern Tier Nitro Iced Macchiato! Wow! What a great Beer!
  4. Pull the electrical connector on the temp sending unit and clean it up. Betcha' there'sa good bit of corrosion there.
  5. If the bike will go up on the center stand, the frame is not broken. That doesn't mean it won't break later. You cant see the rust issue as it rust from the inside out. At he very least, you will need new brake lines and rebuild kits for the MCs and calipers. I'd bet the tires are too old to trust, even if they have good tread. The carbs will likely need cleaned at the very least and will probably need rebuilt. If she starts up and idles with no choke, you are probably OK. Keep in mind, these bikes sound good and will still feel powerful running on three cylinders.
  6. The Reda cans have been out of stock for a couple years now. I have not checked at any HD dealers but a local performance shop that used to sell them said they can't get them any more.
  7. What brewery is doing a 90% IPA?
  8. Welcome, my Black Cherry Brother!(I have the same ride, minus the custom speakers and accents.) I get more compliments on my "Custom Paint" than I ever got with truly custom paint!
  9. XXL from Nelson Rigg. The $29.00 covers from Walmart are actually very good dust covers and decent weather covers for a couple seasons.
  10. Like Marcarl said, anything secure/heavy enough to keep the front end down while you work on the rear. I think I used a bucket of scrap metal last time I did this.
  11. Help from a friend. Getting it up on a 2x4 is going to be quite challenging by yourself. You really don't need the extra height. If you are going to use my suggested method, make sure you use a ratchet strap to secure the center stand in the down/forward position. I'd use a 2x6 at least. You don't want any chance of knocking it off when rocking the front end down. .
  12. Kris and I would do our best to make it.
  13. Just stick a thumb in it! Ordered a couple shirts. It truly is a miracle he survived this.
  14. I haven't heard from BlueBeard since this post.
  15. Welcome Back Steve!
  16. Thanks for the link Heimdog! There are several clubs within a few miles of the new house. I'll contact them when I take posession next week.
  17. I haven't had to replace the throttle cables on CC equiped model, but the left side fairings have to come off to replace the throttle cables on the standard model, so it's a safe bet they will have to come off for you as well. Possibly the right side too.
  18. MK1 or MK2? The MK1 makes short work of removing the rear tire compared to the MK2. I wouldn't say either is dificult but there is a good bit of prep work to get to actually removing the wheel. Follow the service manual and you will have no problems. There are some short cuts that work, but I would advise going by the book the first time around. One good short cut, if you pay close attention and do it safely, allows you to remove both wheels from the centerstand with no lift. Set up on the center stand, then use a ratchet strap from the center stand to the front frame to secure the center stand in the forward position. use a small bottle jack under the front cross member to lift the front end and remove the front wheel by the book. Let the bottle jack down, pull the front end down and secure it with a tied down strap. Remove rear wheel by the book. It's critical to do this on a solid, flat surface free of debris. Do not attempt this method on grass or a gravel driveway.
  19. Not worried about making any money on these. I just hate scraping something that could be useful.
  20. Here are some pictures of the antenna masts.
  21. I'll post up some pictures as soon as I can. Probaly a couple weeks. Well, there is a gargae, but it's small and in bad shape. I plan on tearing it down and building a bigger shop in a few years. We bought the place for the 1890's home and the landscaping. The back yard is a beautiful flower garden with many expensive trees and has a park like layout. The only CBs I own are part of my Ventures!
  22. Hey all! We are closing on a new(Old) house next week. The previous owner is a Ham Operator and he left a couple antenna masts and antennas behind. Unfortunately, he is suffering from dimensia and is no longer an active radio man. Is there any call for this kind of thing? Are there any net forums where I might find someone who could use them? I really don't want to scrap them but I have no use whatsoever for them.
  23. The 30Amp main fuse is located behind the left rear floor board black plastic panel. It's mounted on/with the starter solenoid.
