  1. Glad to see you're not having problems.. Hope the project goes well....:thumbsup2:
  2. Hey Venturejockey, What kind of problem are you having (if one at all)??? My left blinker went crazy on me about two months ago... I accused the blinker too... One of the kind gentlemen on our board quickly pointed out that it sounded more like a bad ground situation. :confused07: Sure enough. I'd lost ground to the left front bulb. Just goes to show ya -- 40 years of riding don't make us wizzards..... :smile5: Ain't these guys GREAT ?????
  3. As a general rule I seldom do much posting on bulletin boards. It's not from lack of things to say or desire to share what little knowledge I have. Mostly it's because there is usually someone too willing and too quick to pass judgment and proclaim their superiority. If I've learned nothing in the past many years it not to poke a hornet's nest with a stick.....:whistling: All that being said I have to put my heart on my sleeve just once and tell you good people how wonderful it is to see so many willing to offer words of support, condolences, encouragement, advise, and yes an occasional good hearted jab. :thumbsup2: I've been a member here for only a short time but have witnessed countless occasions when folks have stepped up and given of themselves when they could just as easily ignored the person in need. The most obvious of these is this most recent tragedy. I know Gary and Leslie. Not because we have ever met; but because of the words I've read here this afternoon... God Bless You!!!!!! :smile5:
  4. It should be obvious to every single person that would read this thread how very highly Gary and Leslie are regarded.... :clap2: I feel crushed by this loss!!!! Not just the terrible senseless loss of Leslie's life but the real friendship she and Gary have developed here. Gary, my friend, you have more support here then you may need but know it's here and every one of us will step up and do what we can to help you. All you have to do is ask......
  5. Alright -- someone tell me who gets tied up..... I don't remember any more!!!!! :crying: Guess it has been a while...... :hurts:
  6. "One of HONDA'S most radical departures from the orthodox motorcycle design, the HONDAMATIC was produced in 400, 450 and 750 cc capacities. The most prevalent model was the CB750A. Introduced in 1976, the CB750A continued in production until 1978." I wrenched one of these bikes for a friend of mine for a couple years. Thank GOD nothing ever went hay-wire with that transmission!!!! This new auto transmission is a whole new breed... Just like the "Boomers" that are all of a sudden becoming "Motorcycle Riders" !!! :crying: Some of us have been riding over 40 years. Don't guess we fall into quite the same category.... :whistling: Wouldn't surprise me to see Honda sell several of these. Especially since it will retain the ability to be shifted manually... :smile5:
  7. Hey Bill -- just thought I let you know there are no double rooms left in the lodge...:crying: But take heart.:whistling: I have reservations at one of the local motels. :thumbsup2: I talked with my riding buddy and as of tonight he's good to go. We'll see what next week brings -- that's the real determining factor. :smile5: We are gonna stay the 25th and 26th at Fort Davis then head back here on the 27th. I have to be home that afternoon..... We'll still get to ride all day Friday with you guys then get back to Fort Davis for the night.... Looking forward to some "GRIP AND GRIN"... Jerry
  8. This begs a question..... Has anyone seen "The Big Bang Theory" on CBS? It looks like something these guys would do..... :rotf: Interesting to say the least.... :smile5::smile5:
  9. Over the last 40 years, I have used Turtle Wax on every bike I've ever owned. Twice a year I get serious and do a very thorough job. About once a month I just put a few drops on a wet cloth rag and give the bikes a quick wipe down then buff off..... :hurts: This process has worked well and it keeps everything shinning!! :thumbsup2::thumbsup2:
  10. Hope you had as good an experience (as good as can be anyway) as I've had with Progressive. I've had two opportunities to let them repair my Goldwings and both times they treated my very fair. :thumbsup2: Here in West Texas they have a dedicated motorcycle adjuster so he's pretty "on the ball".. :smile5:
  11. HERE - HERE !!! I agree 100%. :thumbsup2: I ride to enjoy myself. I have had a few close calls and even a couple too close calls but every time I wasn't paying attention and hung it out too far...:crying: I agree there will aways be "accidents". My point was simply that there are a lot of novice riders these days and the number of accidents and deaths are most likely reflecting that increase in inexperience on two wheels...
  12. It would be interesting to see the ratio of registered bikes to accidents/deaths by rider experience level over the last year compared to a few years ago.... :whistling: I'm thinking there are a lot of novice riders that have purchased bikes and never once considered training beyond what it takes to get a license. As much as I'd like to think we are all perfect riders -- I'm not that easy.... Too many riders allow themselves to get into positions they can't recover from. That includes the cage that turns in front of them. We can enjoy our rides and still be careful -- yes???? :smile5:
  13. http://www.thisoldtractor.com/gtbender/turn_signals_as_running_lights.htm#a_technique_using_one_single-element_bulb_in_each_turn_signal Here's a link to a site that might help you. Depending on where you live/ride you might want to re-think this idea. I didn't realize it was illegal to have amber lights on constant in the rear.....:whistling:
