  1. Purple power works for me, but really tough grease, CRC Brake Parts Cleaner is awesome. Keep it off your plastics.
  2. I know I have a different bike, an 83, But I run my front at 38#, and definitely has a better feeling. My floats around a bit over 40 psi, and I also run my front forks with little air if any.
  3. Here I thought you were off buying a Vette, and have been awaiting pictures. 🤠 Glad you got to spend time with the family. side note: today my daughter driving from Indy back to GA happened to stop at the exit in Bowling Green where the GM Vette plant is , saw a couple Vette haulers, said they were well wrapped, she was excited to tell me about the museum and race track she saw as well.
  4. Personally, I'd jump on it. Looks clean for a 83. My 83, now has 46k miles, no second gear issue 🤞 yet, I've never touched the carbs or valves, and only ride it mostly 2-3 hr local leisure trips. Lucky I am taller, so it actually fits me very well. I've considered upgrading but honestly can not find anything that rides like her. Personally I am not a foot forward cruiser type, more a foot under rider type. Maybe ask for a copy of the shop bill, they might have made notes of recommended service.
  5. Merry Christmas everyone
  6. Merry Christmas Squidley
  7. Prayers for a successful and quick recovery 🙏
  8. X2. Merry Christmas to everyone. Be safe, 2021 looks to be a better year 👍
  9. Sure would be nice to have a 'Like Button" that was a... thumbs up 👍, rather than a heart 💙. The heart seems so Facebook, and it's a bit creepy for me to put a heart next to a post of a fellow M/C forum friend just to show that you liked a comment they made 👍 No big deal, but if it's an easy change I'd bet others agree.
  10. Congrats I think you will get more than one season out of the ole girl 🤠
  11. Nice van. 1 ton, wow, you'll be able to pull a large boat or trailer as well 👍
  12. Prayers up, for Earl and the Family. Wishes for a speedy recovery.
  13. Well I guess you can pull the engine, but what I've seen over the years on this website is, the oil and oil level is pretty finicky. If it were me, I would drain the oil, buy a filter, buy the generic Shell Rotella oil, replace, and put the proper amount in. I can tell when I'm close to needing an oil change just by the way the engine and clutch interact.
  14. Put it on the center stand. Look at the site glass. Keep it below the high mark. I use Shell Rotella basic 15-40, and never have any problems. I have an 83 as well. I'm not positive, (I'm American), but I think 5 liters is way too much, I think you should be under 4 liters actually. You will cause other issues with it overfilled.
  15. Be very careful. Only download Windows 10 from a trusted source. Not that above post is misleading, but Sampor is new to this Motorcycle Forum and downloading an operating system is a big deal.
  16. Where I live, tomorrow is called Giving Tuesday. IMO it is the reason for the season 👍
  17. I've looked on this site and the internet for you, no luck. Ya hate making it up, might get rejected and open a whole new can of worms. If I were you, I would call a Yamaha Dealer in MN and ask them for advise. Surely they can point you in the right direction.
  18. Welcome to the Forum. Great place, I'd never keep my 83 running without all the smart guys around here.
  19. Looks and sounds great. I've always had an interest in home brewing, I'm afraid I wouldn't have the patience.
  20. Ya, I went and undeleted the recording, it was Julys event, and the main one I was thinking of did not hammer and it was Blue at $63k. I looked on their website, I must have been seeing newer models or small blocks, because I'm not seeing late 60s big block 4 spds on their website in the 20s. Sorry to alarm you. Good luck, fun ole car if you find one. My bucket list is an early 70s Hemi Cuda 4spd. Friend had a 440 6pk back in the day, oh what fun we had. Had an automatic. I never will forget the time he punched it, ripped the driveshaft out of the rear end yoke. You don't forget those feelings... ha
  21. I usually take a piece of paper and press around the area to make an indent, and go from there.
  22. I've never dealt with them but I was watching a rerun last night and there were several Vettes, bigblock, 4 spd, like you want at the last one in Indy. Many under 20k, I was surprised.
  23. Awesome start to my day, 😆. Crazy
  24. Looks Great. Be careful in that mud, that's a heavy bike 😏
  25. If you found a number stamped onto the engine, that's it. I know on my 83 I have an engine number, It's not handy for me to go look, but I recall seeing it stamped into engine. Whatever you see on it, give to the DMV. Not like you're trying to pull one over. Good luck, and stick around. There are some great smart ones that keep me running. 👍
