  1. Hello all, I am soon to be planning my first long ride of this sort. I'll be leaving Toronto, Canada on Sat. July 3rd. and checking into a condo in Las Vegas on Sun July 11th for a week then returning to Toronto for Sun July 25th (Yes this is the time frame as the International Rally, so I will be missing it) I will be riding down on my own, and my wife will be flying down to Las Vegas for the week and I will be on my own for the ride home. I have just purchased a leesurlite tent trailer that I will be towing down for my nightly sleeping while on the road. ( I do not have possession of the trailer yet for any pictures) One of my many questions would be; roads, or sights that would be regretable for me to miss out on. Just looking at the maps it would look like the following States would be the most straight forward route: Michigan Ohio Indiana Illinois Missouri Kansas Colorado New Mexico Arizona Nevada The route home I was hoping to take a different way which may include different States. Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas, would be greatly appreciated as I soon want to start planning my route. Thanks Dave Dogman
  2. Sorry to rub it in for those of you buried under snow! Well, no I'm not! I lived in the Buffalo NY are(Lackawanna) until I moved to Vegas 23 yrs ago. I'm the ride captain for the American Legion Post 8 ALR. We had 23 bikes for a 200 mile run today. Went to Mesquite for lunch, then back along Lake Meade to Vegas. Temp was in the mid 60's sun shinning. My RSV in the lead of 20 Harleys. The way it should be!!
  3. I'm heading to Vegas for a training course in a couple of weeks and was thinking about renting a bike for a day. Can anyone recommend a rental place that will not nickel and dime me to death. Thought I'd take a run from Vegas to Lake Havasu to see the London Bridge. I've never rented a bike before so any tips will be appreciated.
  4. We stayed in las vegas for 2 days sorry no pics. We wandered around lost a couple hundred and had a good time. there are to many people going 90mph for my taste. While walking down the strip with my wife and son there were lines of small brown people shoving business card in my face for other types of slot machines. the side walk was covered with these cards they all had pictures of ladys in their birthday suits. I guess I am just a country hick because I have never seen anything quite like that before. There must be a hundred thousand cars for sale there. There were lots of buildings under construction but nobody was working on them I guess the money just ran out.
  5. Don't try this without a parachute. And big kahoona's Ian A motorcycle jump at the Arch De Triumphe at the Paris Hotel-Casino in Vegas on New Years Eve. The structure is ten stories tall. http://www.truveo.com/New-Year-No-Limits-Maddison-Motorcyle-Jump/id/3435303125

  7. Kids are grown and or off doing their own thing in different parts of the country, just leaves me and Mrs. Bubber here in Minnesota alone this year. So we decided to go to Vegas and walk and see the sites. Don't care for gambling but need some warmth to play in. Anybody in the Vegas area? What to see and what not to miss. Never been to Vegas so not sure what to expect. Steve
  8. I am wondering how many members we have in Vegas or Daytona. I am a regular visitor in Vegas, and I am starting planning on a Daytona bike week visit. I would love to get the chance to meet some more members. If any of you would like to meet up, or would be willing to give me some local info, that would be great. I will be in Las Vegas November 6 - 13. Without bike however. I always have planned to ride in Vegas, but alas it has not happened as of yet. Hope to hear from someone! Sonny
  9. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are alive and well and that this trip has far exceeded my expectations! Wow, wow, wow is what Sleeperhawk has been hearing! We left Columbia, South Carolina Friday morning after the rain delay, getting into Prattville, Alabama that afternoon. Visited with my "mom and dad" for a few hours (he had surgery Monday and is doing great!). We got into Meridian, Mississippi late that night, riding under the stars and Milky Way! Left Meridian and met Wild Hair 39 for lunch in Shreveport. Got into Joshua, Texas and visited with George's daughter and granddaughter, leaving Monday afternoon into Ballinger. While in Ballinger on the way to my uncle's place, saw a 2006 Venture sitting by a house so had to go and find the owner! We talked to the father of the owner of the bike and learned he knew my uncle and cousin! On Tuesday, met cousins and brother at Lowake Inn. If you ever go there and order KC for two, expect to feed five people (normal people, Sleeperhawk says!) Onion rings were soooo good too! From Lowake on Tuesday, we rode to Albuquerque, New Mexico, getting there late that night, then waking up to beautiful hot air balloons in the sky and breathtaking mountains. On Wednesday, we rode through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. We then got to the Grand Canyon late, just at sunset as you can see by the pictures, and left in the dark, with signs for us to watch out for deer, elk, mountain lion or cougars and other "wild" animals! All we saw was a coyote! We spent the night in Flagstaff. Then Thursday, we headed to Needles, California and by golly, I can now put it on my map (to be updated when we return home). From there, we rode the hot, desert roads into Las Vegas, via Laughlin. Took a break in Las Vegas. Left Vegas on Friday, spent about an hour around Hoover Dam which is incredible! We went from Hoover Dam down to Gila Bend, Arizona and took I-8, bypassing Phoenix, getting into Tucson, Friday evening. Spent Saturday with George's brother and family. Now we are on our way to Four Corners and Cortez, Colorado! We always do not have Internet but just wanted to drop in and say hi and let you know where we are at! I have used three chips of pictures already! Ride safe, Bobbie
  10. Hey Everyone! As our riding season will soon begin to experience a chilly slow-down here in Utah, a few of us (couples mostly) are trying to plan one more overnight ride before the snow begins to fly in these parts. Last year around mid-October, we road up to Yellowstone Natl. Park. While that was a fun time, it got pretty cold and wet. Afterall, that's what happens in the Rocky Mountain's in October. We probably want to go sometime around the end of this October. This year, we thought that we would take a day or two and ride South down to Las Vegas and catch a performance of the Blue Man Group. I have already seen them on TV and on-line, and have heard that their live shows are awesome. So, that should fun. This is what we're looking for - the best deals there in Vegas that I can find. Either a package deal with a room at the Venitian along with the show, or perhaps an inexpensive hotel and some discounted show tickets from someplace. The hotel doesn't need to be anything more than a place to sleep. But, we do want someplace which is clean, comfortable and which is an unquestionably safe to park our bikes (and our bodies) at night. Can anyone offer us some suggestions? Thanks for the help! Be Safe! Pete & Sandy
  11. They just had an earthquake around L.A. said it was felt down to San Diego and slightly in Vegas. Doesn't seem to be anyone hurt so far. Hope you all are ok out there. Margaret
  12. Is anyone aware of a headset and cord for a half face helmet? I would llike to avoid haveing to purchase new helmets iof possible. The helmets I have are manufactured by Vegas. Thanks

  16. Got the trip booked for Vegas in Feb. We are only there for a few days. We land on the evening of the 12th Feb. and leave on the 15th I believe. Our "free" day is most likely the 14th and we hope to maybe rent a bike and drive out to the Grand Canyon. Is that plausable? Then maybe meet up with Ron and Linda and whomever else is interested for something to eat. We are staying at New York New York. Feedback and hints are appreciated!
