  1. okay folks, not much has been happening on our committee, but here is what we have to date. cindy will be opening the registration in the very near future. we have gotten most of the rally costs together. the dinner will be on thursday night, and as of now will be the hub restaurants ultimate prime rib and fried chicken, and all the trimmings. randall who owns the hub says it is the worlds best. if you plan on bringing kids , we have that covered with a special price for 12 years and under. registration fee will cover the final meal in the hall, a t-shirt with a neat logo by freebird, a matching patch, a really neat name button so every one knows who you are. we will have a slight discount for couples registering. there will be a vendor area inside the airconditioned hall, so if you want to contribute something there like having something you want to vend contact me or danob11, who is in charge of vendors. since the hub has a really nice restaurant on site we are going to have a breakfast buffet every morning which will be pay when you eat. since i like my coffee at 5 in the morning. i am going to see that the early risers are covered, if i have to make it myself. i'm sure i can pressure the hub to do that for us guys. still busting our butts to make this the best meet of all. not trying to out do anyone but just want to have every one to have a good time and no complaints. if i forgot anything i hope the rest of the committee will chime in and let everyone know. bill to the 2009 international rally :clap2:
  2. before all the excitement over this years st. jude ride fades away. i would like to come up with a challenge for the 2009 rally. anyone got any ideas. since dragonrider was the one who originally got the st. jude ball rolling on the site, and he is going to do vogel again next year we could combine the 09 rally and vogel in the challenge some how. then donate the money again next year like we did the last two years, with an end of the season ride to memphis. the ride had double the attendence this year. i will donate myself as one of the fallguys. as long as it don't hurt.this old body won't handle anymore pain. i could handle a tattoo, but no torture. lol. lets have some ideas. we are going to do a 50/50 for st. jude at the rally. folks these things get to be alot of fun once you get involved, and it's for one heck of a good cause. we, the 2009 rally committee are open for ideas, so have at it. bill :clap2:

  7. Anyone planning on going to BBB in Fayetteville, 24-27 Sep? http://www.bikesbluesandbbq.org/ We're riding down from Suamico (Green Bay) for a much more important reason than the rally, arriving in Lowell (just up the road) on Sun the 21st. We'll be in town until the 27th, and then riding back home. Since we're going to be in town for that MUCH MORE IMPORTANT reason and there with the RSV, might as well stop by the rally . Anyone interest in a M&E say Wed, Thurs, or Fri? In case you see more than one Black Cherry RSV with pinstriping and lots of chrome, and a WISCONSIN plate that week in the BBB area, the better looking one is mine! Curt
  8. For some of you that don't frequent the VR Rally board that often we're taking a poll on the location for Venture West V. Now's your chance to voice your opinion and vote... and it ain't even political... CLICK HERE to GO to the POLL
  9. just wanted to let all know that the royal riders are having a wv rally in the cannan valley area. i post it in the rally forum under other club rallies. several of the guys at asheville rally was wanting to come, and all are welcome to come by and meet, eat, ride and talk about bikes.
  10. We just landed back at home about an hour ago. This years Pork in the Pines was a great success. Black Owl cooked up vats of his famous chili. The pig cooker performed perfectly, the pig (all 115 pounds) turned out great and it was fun eating. Cooking commenced early Saturday morning and wasn't finished until about 6pm. I ate several pounds of it myself. This year more people than ever camped at Gary's place turning his farm into a biker campground. A special thanks to Gary for providing his place for the rally. However, I think next year many people may camp on the other side of the farm AWAY from the ROOSTERS!!! They sure like to wake up early and cock-a-doodle-doo. We had rides on Saturday and Sunday as well as a maintenance day on Sunday. Saturday we had about a 170 mile ride on the backroads of Northern MN. Part of Saturday's ride was a quick stop at the Mississippi headwaters for those that had never been there. It's always great to walk across the mighty Mississippi. I am told Sunday's ride was also a great success. I was helping with maintenance day, but most of the crew went ona full days ride through more backroads which many of the Canadians tell me are better than their primary roads. On Sunday we set a record for us at Pork in the Pines. We successfully completed work on five bikes. That is four more than we've ever done in past years. (There was usually too much drinking and goofing off for any serious work to get completed. This year we did several carb syncs, plug changes and color tunes. Also a special thanks to Freebird for providing us with the Colortune. We successfully used it on three bikes on Sunday then we raffled it off. I forget who won it, but they are happy to have their own color tune now. Thanks Don!!! My wife is processing photos and I have a few hours of video from Saturday's ride to process and get posted. That should make it way here and to the Pork in the Pines website. Those in attendance were: Myself and Tigeress Black Owl GrandpaGak and GrandmaGak, Sarges46 (Rick) and Marilyn Red1 minnmac and wife Renate wild hair 39 krispy and wife Denise Rocket Norm and wife Kim noddy (Gord) and wife Laura Bubber and wife Luanne tessa c2 Lennie RedRider and son Grant Crowsnest (Brandi) and her man Crow Bigbob was in attandence via our thoughts and prayers. Those that have met him have always found him to be a great man. We pray for his recovery and look forward to seeing him again. Thanks to all for attending and making this years Pork in the Pines another successful VentureRider.org rally!!!
  11. I finally have the trailer ready (wired and safety chained) and we are loading it up now. We'll be there this afternoon/evening. Cheers

    Back from Sturgis

Just back from Sturgis...yall missed ALL The fun! STURGIS, S.D. -- An off-duty Seattle police officer has been detained after a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang was shot and wounded during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. It happened at about 1 a.m. Saturday in the Loud American Roadhouse -- a bar along Sturgis' main street. Police said there was a confrontation between members of the Hells Angels and the Iron Pigs, a motorcycle group made up of law-enforcement officers.Sturgis police said that two gunshots were fired. The Seattle officer was not identified.Seattle police said they were notified of the incident, and that four other Seattle officers were apparently also present during the shooting. 13. still need people that are planning to be at the 2009 ar. rally, to go over to the polls heading and vote. even if your not sure yet. there is a spot for that. we need a rough idea of how many people to expect to help with our planning. thanks bill
  14. I have two unused 2008 Venture International Rally T-Shirts I would like to part with (finally showed up a few days ago). I do not like them and they were not what I ordered. 1 black short sleeve XL 1 black short sleeve XXL I was thinking $20 shipped for both in the US. Let me know.
  15. I am loosely calling this a Rally Schedule. For those that have been to the Pork in the Pines in the past you know we do not stick to a strict plan. We just have a general idea of things we want to do and then we go off and have fun. Friday: Arrive (anytime through out the day) Setup camp Enjoy a free chili feed Meet old friends and make new ones Saturday: Breakfast at nearby casino Embark on a ride to where ever your ride leader takes you Stop for lunch on ride (where ever you land) Ride some more Return to camp and get ready to eat pig Ohh and ahh over the pig as it is pulled from the cooker and presented Dig in and eat! Recover from eating Evening bonfire and cigar smoker (I am providing 2 dozen cigars), B.S. story telling and drinking (BYOB-Bring your own beverage) crash for the night Sunday: Maintenance day (we work on one or more bikes if needed) Breakfast a nearby place Return to camp for maintenance day OR for those that want to ride we can ride Lunch - BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches More maintenance day work OR continue riding for those that wish Dinner Evening bonfire B.S. story telling and drinking (BYOB-Bring your own beverage) and if there are any cigars left we can smoke them as well. crash for the night Monday: Departure day break camp and head home full of good food and memories Register now to avoid missing the fun and pig.
  16. okay group, we have decided to open the 2009 rally to venders and have a vender area. so far DIAMOND R has committed to be there for us and bring their products. do any of you folks know, any motorcycle related vendors that might be interested in selling and showing there products at the rally? if so contact them and have them pm me. i still have to clear this with the hub, but since we have the whole resort to ourselves i see no problems. i will talk to debbie at the hub this week. your help on this would be appreciated. this is just apart of some of the neat stuff we are working on for you, all. thanks bill:2133:
  17. gents.... does anyone have a spare vent 3"X7" approx, that goes by your knee under the little leather pouch,( right side, 88 VR)..... mine blew off on the highway, on my way to the Kitchener rally, and have not had the time to find one yet.... so I thought I would try this first... thanks in advance JOHN
  18. hey folks, for all of you that are planning on, or thinking about attending the 2009 arkansas international rally. check out cindys poll and drop her your vote. we need to get a rough idea of the no. of attendees that we can expect so we can figure the tshirts, food, and some of the other neat things we have planned. this is going to be a really big event, and we need to have an idea how big. the final meal is going to be catered by the hub restaurant. and we need to get some kind of estimate to them. i know it's early yet but we have an awful lot of things to plan out so your help will be appreciated. thanks, snarley bill
  19. the 2009 rally committee is having a get together at the pro bass in springfield, mo., next saturday, aug 16, at noon. any one that wants to sit in with us is welcome to join us. you may just get some inside secret info on the 2009 rally. actually it's mainly just going to be a casual get together. if you come be in the pro bass parking lot by noon. bill
  20. When I found out that they were going to run the Indy Mile flat track races this year after an absence of nine years I just couldn't keep from buying tickets right then. I later discovered that the Eureka Springs rally is the same week. Just my luck. I remember watching this race when I was much younger and dreaming of how cool it would be to see it in person. I'm not too concerned about being cool anymore, but I've just got to go to the race. Don't think I'll see any of my childhood stars, but the race is the same. I hope everyone at the E.S. Rally has a great time, even Wild Bill and Alan H. Hope to see you all a little later in the season, maybe the East Texas meet in October. Enjoy and have fun!!
  21. just in case everyone hasnt seen the new thread started for this......thought i'd give it one of those shameless plugs by posting it here it is in the international rally section under rides and rallys http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26095
  22. OK folks, I know that I'm WAY late in finally getting this contest started but it's just been very busy lately. So I am going to keep it simple. I REALLY need your input as to where you would like to see the 2009 International Rally held. So, all you have to do is reply to this thread as to WHERE the rally should be held and WHY you would like to see it held there. Now I know that some of you will agree on certain places and that is fine, your recommendation does not need to be unique but you DO need to at least briefly explain your reason. Now this does not mean that the rally will be held at any particular place. Even if many of you agree on a location, we still need folks from any given area to step up and take charge of it and if nobody does, then we have to look elsewhere. So, this contest will run for 1 week. The winner will be randomly selected from all of you who post your recommendations to this thread. The winner will receive a $100.00 gift certificate from New Enough. http://www.newenough.com/
  23. I got back on Sat night from Sturgis. I took a 63 year old virgin he had never been to the rally. He is still grinning from ear to ear like a kid in a candy store. On our first trip into town we were on our way back to camp 8 miles south of Sturgis someone tried to make a U turn in the middle of the road and got T boned by another bike. With having previous EMS and Law Enforcement background I took over the scene directed someone to get help (no cell service) and had 3 people direct traffic and assisted the victims. Both lived one was air lifted from the scene. In 14 years I have attended the rally this is the second accident that I have assisted with and I hope it is my last one. Lots of people stopped and helped out some people didn’t even ask what they could do they jumped in and did what needed to be done.
  24. Here are our pics, the ones in focus that is. http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd227/SaltyDawg83/Asheville%20Rally/
  25. Is anybody going to the Aerostich VBR rally in Duluth MN in 2 weeks?
