you can also try www.chromeglow.com I have bought lights from them for my Harleys and the also have metric bikes as well
  6. I went back out to the shop today and ran the bike for about 20 minutes at an idle and the temp never went up above the middle of the gauge. Rode it for about another 20 minutes and the gauge stayed at the line between the lower green and the upper green or about 1/4. Dont know why it was running hot yesterday? My RF900 Suzuki on days like today and yesterday the temp gauge barely moves from the C... Don't have to worry about it on my Harley's lol
  7. Yes I did that, and no I didnt hear any boiling. It could be a gauge problem not sure of that. It did get in the red. Before that it was fluctuating down and up. If I rolled off the throttle it would come down some, but if I held a steady throttle it would rise.
  8. both the reservoir and the radiator are full. The coolant reservoir was not overfull when running, It's puzzling me since it ran fine the day before but it didn't today
  9. there is coolant in both the radiator and coolant reservoir. The drain valve is in the correct off position when it was running hot....
  10. Alright guys I changed the coolant Thursday evening ran it with the drain vale set to on for awhile topped off the coolant and set drain valve back to off. I rode it about 40 miles and the temperature gauge remained about 1/3 of the way from lowest mark on gauge with the temperatures in the mid 40's. I went to ride it today and within 5-6 miles gauge was up in the red. Temperature only in the low 40's here, so I pulled over and set the valve back to on to get it back to the shop. Thermostat stuck or what else could cause this? I don't believe there is any air in the system as it ran fine the day before
  11. So I got this Venture about a week ago as a project bike. It wasn't in too bad a condition for sitting for four years, so after two days of cleaning it up it looked pretty good. Spent the better part of another two days making repairs and cleaning the carbs. Put it back together synched the carbs and it now runs like a champ. Thanks to all for suggestions and comments!
  12. Thanks for the tip utadventure it worked like a charm!!!
  13. Thanks. I was reading the owners manual and it seemed way too complicated with everything they were saying to remove. I'll give that a try tomorrow as long as this storm isn't too bad....
  14. Ok so I have searched for tips to rmove saddlebags, but I have not found any. I need to replace the rear brake pads and I can't figure out what all I need to remove to get the bag off? Any tips or suggestions????
  15. The guy with the 87 wanted 900.00 and it needed quite a lot of work, and parts to get it in good running shape. I gave 950.00 for the 88. I am not worried about fixing things as I work at a motorcycle dealer (not Yamaha) so I have all the necessary equipment at my disposal....
  16. OK so I didn't but the 87.....I bought an 88 instead. The 87 was in too bad a shape for me. Would have had to put another thousand or so into it. The 88 is nice has all the needed accessories, intercom headsets, owners manual, etc. Some cracks in the plastics that I can repair. The biggest issue is it will run, but wont take any fuel or it will stall. Also some popping from the right side cylinders at an idle......
