  1. If the air temp is above 90f and sun shining, I'd suggest anything that is metal would feel that way. Ever set your bare arm out the window of your car only to scream and jump when you realized how hot the metal is? oowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....
  2. :rotf: for some reason the word "blond" comes to mind here...
  3. You have a twisted mind.... mine went to "shindig" aka "hoe down" :rotf: and if you believe that... hey, I got some oceanfront property in Saskatchewan for sale if yer interested.... LOL
  4. Same for me but when I first got my '06, I only did toe shifts...had no problems but trained myself to do the heel also... now it's "natural". I also found that when I mounted my highway pegs, they interfered with up shifting using toe only so, was sorta forced to learn to use the heel.
  5. HEY!! watch out for this guy... he's a cannibal !! :rotf: we do a lotta ribbin 'round here
  6. I intend to do that and that will be this winter when I get rid of the stockers and put on Avon's .... can hardly wait to see how she feels after that and especially with a 130 front.
  7. These days is generally cool overnight (around 10 celcius) so definately I have to choke mine although I've noticed on those RARE HOT DAYS (20 celcius or better overnight) that I don't need the choke so ambient temp has a lot to do with it. I ride mine weekends only with the odd time during the week for evening ride.
  8. Unfortunately, that's about where the "whine" is at it's worst ... I try and stay away from that by being in a gear that produces a higher rpm. Exception is 5th.
  9. There's so many variations .... must be an individual bike thing... just like the whine LOL ... main thing is that, as stated, when you crack the throttle it doesn't crap out / cough / hesitate ...once that's ok basically yer good to go. Mine seems to take 2 or 3 min.
  10. and the pumpkin and lean angle are easier? I have to lay on the floor just to check the danged thang! On my '87 I didn't have an angled one and I checked and filled it from the right side as that always seemed the easiest....even when on the centre stand. hmmmmmm... could it have anything to do with being right-handed I wonder?
  11. One of the things I like about the RSV is that it is not only a long distance tourer but a person can still do some "bar-hopping" on it .... rip around the city some ... short runs back and forth to work or whatever .... I don't think a GW lends itself well to that and that is why it's probably a better bike for LD touring only. RSV = great all-around bike oops... almost forgot ... welcome aboard!
  12. All of this "tire pressure gauge" stuff brings to mind a "why'd they do that" .... Why did Yamaha put a 90 degree valve stem on the rear tire and then ANGLE IT TOWARDS THE LEFT SIDE??? (or is it just mine that's like this?) duh!
  13. Is there a tech article on this showing what is done? .... and the reasoning?
  14. My thoughts exactly. See my other post on choke use thread... [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41155]Using the choke - VentureRider.Org[/ame]
  15. are you sure it's a valve that's ticking... it could be the cam chain adjuster. From what I understand of it, it works on a hydraulic "valve". Mine has been doing this since I got it with 1300 km on it. Even adding Motorkote doesn't change that although the ticking seems to go away quicker now.
  16. When the bike is cold, I pull the choke out about half way ... start the bike, wait about 30 seconds and then push it in to the point that the rpm's drop to just above idle (appx 1000-1200 rpm) ... then I let it warm up for maybe 2 or 3 min, then I push the choke off.
  17. :thumbsup2: thanks for the laff !
  18. hehe ... I have such a TWISTED MIND!
  19. :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2: and just how many hours out of your work day did THAT take?
  20. I remember a thread about this quite a long time ago... like a couple years. Seems the general consensus was that even the supposed best gauge was not necessarilly "accurate" when tested against another similar one. I use a dial gauge....the kind that ya have to push a little button to release the air... dunno if it's right or wrong but I've used it for years. Checked it against a couple other different gauges, one brand new and none gave the same reading although they were close.
  21. For me, the older I get, the warmer and nicer the weather has to be .. I generally look for temps to be about 10 celcius (appx 50f) or better. Can't stand cold no more.
  22. I dunno how long it takes to ship .... I hope not too long as there's probably not going to be many more riding days left before my insurance is ended for the winter (Oct 17th). At least there's always a "day permit" if we still get some nice days after that. I dunno why I waited this long!
  23. I just ordered one off eBay ... $44.91 Woooohoooo! can't wait to blast those jerk cagers ... man there was a lot of idots yesterday!
  24. ..... but ... mine IS!
  25. is there anything about this that relates to "picking up chicks when you got a bike"?? (methinks yer confused and are getting the wrong kinda "birds")
