  1. Got her home yesterday, took a few photos this morning before we took off, to get the boss her Ultimate backrest, me some floor boards and a couple other things to start making her ours. So far I am very impressed.
  2. You can install a DYNA 3000 ignition, that helps. You can go over to the Delphi forums and talk with Tanker Hank, he has managed to drop a Venture motor into a standard Royal Star a couple of times, that will get you some added horsepower, but it is not for the faint of heart.
  3. On the billet air cleaner covers, it was always stated in the catalog that you had to use K&N filters with those billet covers, they clearly stated that the stock filters should not be used.
  4. The blue one is a V-Star, the silver one is Road Star.
  5. The regulator is right in front of the oil filter, it is held on by two bolts, drop it and the there is connector on it , the harness is long enough to allow you to pull it out so you can easily disconnect it. The wire in that connector comes straight from the stator. Start the bike and test from pin to pin in the connector, I forget the exact voltage that you should see but should be something north of 16 volts AC.
  6. The original Royals actually worked so the shock extended to provide damping instead of compressing, and as was said above the linkage is all different. There may be a way to do what you want, but I doubt that the links for a 99 and up Venture will be of any use to you.
  7. Send a PM to bill4you502 he just installed a set that I wired up for him. I set it all up for him so it was all plug and play, but he found that some one at his dealer had cut the plugs off off the harness under the seat, but he got it all working.
  8. Billmac, PM sent.
  9. follow this link to the second gen tech section. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=492
  10. Yes tall windshield installed , stock come wih the bike, it has an ultimate seat and the stock seat comes with the bike.
  11. Barry, Yes same red as yours, I do not think I will have it ready for International, would need to get it set up for the trailer and all, and I am not going to get it home until probably next Friday or Saturday, due to business travel next week, not sure I want take off on a bike that I have had for less than a week on that long a trip, so one last go with the Venture then I will put her up for sale. Here is a picture from the ad where I found it.
  12. No Air bag, No ABS, pretty basic model with some after market stuff and a GPS thrown in.
  13. PUC, THANKS, would never even think of leaving this group, I talk you guys more than I talk to my blood relatives, I have more in common with everyune here han I do any blood relatives, except my daughter. This my family. Brake Pad, 2012 and up may be the second gen of the current design, but the GL have gone thru many generational changes since they were introduced back in the mid 70's as a 4 cylinder , 1100 or 1000 cc. Lots has changed since then.
  14. Wanted a bit more comfort, power and improved handling. Nothing wrong with my Venture , love it, but it does lack a bit from what the Wing offers in the above catagories. I been riding Royal Star based bikes since 1998 , need a little change.
  15. Put a deposit down on a used 2013 Goldwing today, the wife will be completing the purchase next week while I am out of town on buisness travel, hopefully it will be already to pick up and ride away when I return on Friday. Now to find a Bushtec hitch and wiring harness for the wing and figure out what a 2007 Venture with 70K + miles is worth and find a buyer. I wil post pics after I get her home.
  16. Go over to the Delphi forum for Ventures, Tanker Hank has managed to remove the lower fairings on his Venture, he can tell what is needed, he also changed the filter set up to 4 pods I think.
  17. The BUBS are pretty easy to repack, I have done two sets in the past 6 months or so. Drill out two rivets, wiggle the caps off, pull the baffles, wrap the baffles and reinstall. When I did the ones earlier this year both sets had been torn into before and the rivets had been replaced with screws (sort of) so I had to rework the thru holes and rethread the cones to acept proper screws, but nothing major. A liitle elbow grease and some metal polish and the tips will look like brand new , get rid of flaking chrome and polish the aluminum underneath and they look good as new.
  18. Go to the classified section for Gen 2 parts or follow this link http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=5070&title=bubs-slip-ons&cat=7 A set for $75.00
  19. Yes I would buy again, they did not have anything that fancy when I boght mine, that looks like a dandy.
  20. Some body had a set for sale either here or on Delphi for $75.00 , I wil see if I can find that thead.
  21. Just to be clear the Palomino model pictured is from the original Royal Star model line, that is the non Venture based models that were manufactured and sold from 1996 to 2001, none of those had the set up the Venture started sporting in 1999 and the new version of the TD in 2005, which is just a stripped down version of the Venture. The Palominos and some other models were very limited editions, the paint was done by Bushtec Trailers.
  22. Rick, Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.
  23. Or a 2006
  24. I am sure they could last UP TO FOUR HOURS under the right conditions, but not in 90+ weather riding 70 MPH here in Florida. I have the phase change packs, I never really paid attention to how long they take in ice water, I have two pairs, so I take one pair out of the vest and put them into the cooler and put the cold set in my vest and ride on, by the time I have to stop again they are always frozen solid. When I first got the vest I tried using all four packs at one time, but the two in the back were right on my kidneys and it was two much, made my back muscles start to spasm, so I now just run with two , one in each front pouch.
  25. I have one, works well, better than an evaporation system especially here in Florida where the humidity is high. The packs stay cool for about one hour, which is about right for summer riding, I normally stop pretty often to get fresh cold water.
