  1. Pretty sure that is correct, I think my Goldwing was the same, pretty useless if you need to leave the bike to get help and you want to alert other drivers that the bike is on the shoulder. No way I am leaving a bike on the shoulder with the key in the ignition, even if it broke down.
  2. Carb synch, plugs and seafoam sound like a solid start to the trouble shooting, also make sure the original owner did not remove the weights on the ends of the handle bars, if those have been removed the bars can get some vibrations in them. As far as lacking get up and go, remember this V-4 like to produce power at high RPMs and both 4th and 5th gears are overdrive gears. If you are tooling along at 65 in 5th gear and try to accelerate quickly it will not respond like a V-twin. If you to get out and pass someone or just want to go faster quickly drop down to 4th or even 3rd and give it some gas. The bike actually performs best in 3rd gear, if you have not tried it, get on the road and while in 3rd gear, give as much gas as you like it may surprise you how quick it is.
  3. Try this link, the bad news is the folks that made leveling links no longer make them, you will need to make your own or find some one who can make them. They work great.
  4. Well turns out my customer wants the red lens, so I now have a light bar with the clear lens and red LEDs on hand ready to build for the first person that wants one, still $66.00 delivered to the lower 48.
  5. I know some folks have purchased my run/turn/brake rear light bars with the clear lens, I have a customer wanting to see a photo of one mounted on a 2nd Gen Venture. If someone could post one it would be much appreciated.
  6. Here is a link to the service manual in the Tech Library, https://www.venturerider.org/forum/topic/63540-rsv-and-rstd-service-manuals/?do=getNewComment
  7. Have you looked here? https://www.radiantz.com/yamaha-led-lights-s/131.htm , they have the round plates for turns and also the flat plate for the tail brake. I had that or similar on my 98 Tour Classic and my Venture, I mounted a small modulator right inside the tail light assembly so the brake light flashed, really gets people's attention. Also check here for tower lights. https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/tail-brake-turn/ will need to get ones that have LEDs on the side of the tower so the show out through the lens.
  8. I have been following and commented on his posts over on theGL1800 riders forum, the past couple of days.
  9. My 2013 Audio Comfort 1800 up for sale. Bike has 71000 miles, heel toe shifter with floorboards, mini board forward footrests. LED tail and brake lights with modulators, Pathfinder sequential turn spoiler light bar, custom built light bar under the trunk. Carpets in the trunk and saddle bags, organizers in the trunk. Ultimate Mid Rider seat. Gear indicator, digital voltmeter and wired for GPS and iPhone at left handlebar. Asking price is $13,000.00, I am open to reasonable offers; nothing is firm at this point.
  10. The only one that is compatible with the Venture is the middle one https://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2013-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-1300-ENGINE-MOTOR-TRANSMISSION/133729294441, It would be easier to tell if they had left the fins and front struts on. The early Royal Star motors (1996 to 2001) did not have the struts on the front cyclinders securing the motor to the frame. See the snip I put in below. Also the early Royal Stars had 28mm carbs the Venture (1999 to 2013) and Tour DeLuxe (2005 to 2010) had 32 mm carbs so the motors are not compatible between Royal Star and Venture/Tour DeLuxe. Not to make more complicated Yamaha also called some of the earlier modes Tour Deluxe. The black engines are from Later model Ventures and Tour Deluxes, none of the early model standard Royal Stars had black motors to my knowledge. Hope that helps, maybe someone can give exact engine model number for Ventures or Tour DeLuxes
  11. Looks good, nice job. I have seen similar done on many Stratoliners and have sold wiring harness to them so the lights on the tour pack work as designed. I can do the same for your bike if you need help and do not want to cut any wires on the bike.
  12. Venture and Tour Deluxe parts are seldom interchangeable with the original Royal Stars. There are some but not many. Here is a link to another part of this forum, it is the STAR accessory catalog from many years back, you should be able to see the parts that interchange by comparing the Venture section to the Royal Star section.
  13. I am not sure what you mean by " '99 Royal V", but here is a place to start getting some knowledge of the history of the Royal Star line, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_Royal_Star As memory serves me that bike in the photo is a Boulevard model of the original Royal Star series , produced from 1996 to 2001 as noted here, https://www.autoevolution.com/moto/yamaha-royal-star-boulevard-1999.html#aeng_yamaha-royal-star-tour-deluxe-3000-1294 Hope this helps.
  14. If you can post photos of the connectors, front, back and sides (must be good sharp and in focus) I can see if I can find the connectors and try to help out.
  15. Same problem popped up over on the GL1800Riders forum the other day. One suggestion was after starting the bike to pull out on the start button to see if it fully returned to it's proper position, sometimes they can stick in and keep some of the contacts engaged. If you do take that switch housing apart try covering it with a plastic zip lock type bag, there are lots of springs and little bits in there that could get loose, the bag will help catch them. Also check the relays, sometimes swapping relays around will let you know if they are the problem also. If you are not a member of GL1800Riders, I would suggest joining, there are a lot of good knowledgeable folks over there.
  16. I make various jumpers for the Venture. I make a plug and play jumper break out that plugs in to the back side of the cigarette lighter that is in the lower portion of the fairing on the left side. I can put wires on the bare pins in the photo and you can but splice or solder your adapter to those wires. The jumper is $10.00 delivered to any where in the lower 48.
  17. If you find one and are not sure, post a link to the item you are looking for, I am sure someone will be able to tell you if it is a match or not.
  18. If you are talking about a Royal Star Venture or Tour Deluxe, the motors from 1999 to 2013 are all the same, including the 2005 to 2010 Tour Deluxe. There were still some non Venture Royal Stars made between 1999 and 2001, those are not a direct fit a Venture or 2005 to 2010 Tour Deluxe. The early model Ventures had silver fins and stays to the front fin covers the older model ones had black fins and black stays. Who is they?
  19. Here is a link to the service manual, The left turn signals are on brown or as Yamaha calls them Chocolate wires. The right urn signals are on green wires. The ground is on black wires
  20. Hope this helps. Here are two options; This link takes to you a product I make, you could use this harness that breaks into the wiring harness and put the resistors between the turn signal pigtails and ground. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/topic/62634-aux-lighting-harness-for-2nd-gen-venture/?do=getNewComment This link takes you to a post by Freebird that shows how to modify the OEM flasher to make it work with LEDs.
  21. I am not familiar with any of the shops in Orlando area there are 4 in the general area. I am closer to Daytona and have always used Daytona Fun Machine (now Ride-On) in Holly Hill, when my 98 Royal Star had major carb issues they fixed it and it ran like new. If you contact them ask to speak with Mark Torrey, he is the service manager, you can tell him I sent you. As an aside to let you know what kind of service he provides, about 5 years ago my Goldwing would not start, it acted like sensor was bad, major $$. I talked with him and as he lives close by I asked if he could stop by after work and see if my diagnosis was correct. He came by, laid hands on the bike and it started, told me the battery was probably bad and I had flooded it trying to start it during the day. He was exactly correct, GLs are very sensitive to voltage drops during starting, got a new battery have not had a problem since. Steve Kowalcky
  22. So tell us what gear are you in when you roll on the throttle between 35 and 50? If you are in 4th or 5th (both are overdrive gears) this response is completely normal. At 35 to 55 you should still be 3rd gear, roll on the throttle at those speeds in 3rd and she should take right off. No need to be in 4th or 5th below about 60. This engine does not perform well at low RPMs.
