  1. There continues to be many posts about folks having trouble getting the air out brake lines and the clutch line. The clutch is much harder in my opinion, but both systems can be painful at times. I was listening to "Car Talk" this weekend, must have been a rerun because Tommy (God rest his soul) was on the show and he died over a year ago. Anyways, a caller was having trouble bleeding the clutch on her car after changing the master cylinder and slave piston. After the usual banter back and forth, Ray offered an idea that he says they use in their shop. Get a large syringe and fit it with rubber tubing that will fit securely on the bleeder. Fill the syringe with brake fluid and open the bleeder and depress the clutch, with the help of an assistant. Slowly depress the plunger on the syringe and force brake fluid back up into the system, that will push out any air and it should bubble out in the master cylinder reservoir. I had not heard that idea before, sounds like it could work. On the bikes you would have to be very careful not to push so hard as to squirt brake fluid out of the reservoir. Anyone ever tried something like this? Did it work? Maybe something to offer to the next member that succumbs to the dreaded "Clutch will not bleed" syndrome.
  2. Shamelessly pulled this from another cycle forum. https://www.youtube.com/embed/46fk02enulQ?rel=0
  3. I think we are fine as we are, I could go along with opening up to other Yamaha or STAR bikes, but I do not think we need it just now. I do not use the Goldwing section much, but do like having it. Chapters, do not need them. Even though I do not have my Venture anymore, I still come here first, because it is home, when it was down for the upgrade a while back, I started having separation anxiety, there just is no place like Venturerider.
  4. Try taking your dongle out and then putting back in, sometimes that will make it work.
  5. If it is an Apple product, the best solution I found for their products is turn them off and leave them off for several minutes, (personally I would turn them off and leave them off if could) after waiting a few minutes turn them back on and generally they start working correctly again. Otherwise what cowpuc said is good advice.
  6. As this thread is more that 3 years old and the the last time Eagle looged on to his site was November of 2012, I doubt you will get an answer on this one Typical issues for not starting are: 1: Low battery voltage, not charged 2: Loose battery connections both positive and negative 3: Corroded battery connections , both negative and positive 4: Bad relay. numbers 1 to 3 are pretty easy to check and fix, number 4 not so easy, but should be doable for some one slightly mechanically inclined. Good luck finding the issue.
  7. I am in Edgewater, just about 25 miles south of Daytona.
  8. Now that is funny, I do not care who you are
  9. Amen boss. Much to be thankful for, and especially thanks to you for this site, I consider it as an extension of my family also.
  10. Can you slice the end off to get into fresh potato, re-salt and continue? That sounds like a neat trick, I will have to try it one day.
  11. Check out Peter Booth's set up, very nice and color matched. here is his profile page http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?9228-peterbooth
  12. So if you have access to the email account can you protect it with a password? If you do that it should lock him out until he figures out the password. And I agree any IT guy worth half what he is being paid should be able to track down the offending computer based on the info in the header. I know on my hotmail account all I have to do is right click on the message and select "View Message Source" that way I can see who sent the email, who else got the email and read the email with no concerns about viruses being down loaded before my anti virus soft ware catches it.
  13. MidRSV, so are you on Meritt Island some where?
  14. Thanks Patti, very nice write up, glad to hear you guys are living the good life, hope to meet up you both again one day.
  15. Before and after pics. The Job Boss keeping an eye on things
  16. Plus I have found that slightly tapping on the line all the back as far as you can when the lever is pulled back also helps to dislodge stuck bubbles.
  17. That is exactly what I picked up at Home Depot today, works well. I have one more piece to install and trim and it will be done. I will say I am no carpet guy, it turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected, lots of odd shapes and contours to deal with, I anticipated that, but it was more of a challenge than I expected. The net result will be an improvement, but the quality of my installation is not what I expect from me , so I am a little disappointed. I will try to smooth out some of the wrinkles and rough edges once it is all done and I can see the full effect. If I can make it look decent so as not to embarrass myself I will post some before and after photos. UP side, you can not see the inside as long as the lid is closed, and that is how the trailer stays 95% of the time.
  18. Thanks, I was concerned about the possible over spray with an aerosol type contact adhesive, this would eliminate that.
  19. I have had my Bushtec trailer for a number of years I bought a demo unit for cheap ( sorta cheap by Bushtec standards) , the thing is the interior is not 100% carpeted. The inside of the lid, front and rear bulkheads are not carpeted, just have rough fiberglass that is painted white. The white will rub off on things, so I always end up covering the load with a towel or 2 to keep the transfer down. Yesterday I found some carpet at a surplus store that matches pretty well and I am planning on getting some to trim out the interior. Yes there is a question in here. There are no anchor points inside the trailer to fasten the carpet to , I was told by Bushtec a number of years ago to use spray on contact cement to fix the carpet to the trailer interior. Has anyone here done this to a Bushtec or similar trailer? How did you do it and how did it turn out? What tricks did you learn that I could benefit from? Thanks
  20. I had a friend here in Florida that put deer whistles on his car, he claimed they worked because he never saw any deer, I asked him if he ever saw any polar bears? He said no with a funny look on his face, I explained that obviously those whistles also worked on polar bears , because he never saw them either. He did not really see the humor in that. On a serious note, I have had two very close encounters wit deer, both were when I was riding very quiet bikes. The first was right after I got my Venture and still had stock pipes, a doe came across the road right in front of me, a second or two later or 2 or 3 more MPH on my part and I would have clocked her. Road my Venture for 6.5 years after that an never had any close encounters. The second time was last November on my Goldwing, again stock pipes , very quiet, this time a deer came out onto the road while I was doing about 55 MPH, this time it was so close that her back hooves stuck me and he bike as she was jumping out of the way. One hoof hit my left boot right on the toe , the other tapped some place on the Tupperware, I heard it and felt the bike shudder. Looked back and she was gone and my drawers needed changing. So yes new or different noises may well play a part in deer avoidance.
  21. Back in the day, Yamaha contracted with Bushtec trailers to come up with some customized Royal Stars for a few years (2 or 3), they were very limited editions, the Palominos were some of those bikes. Like anything in this world, they only worth what the next guy is willing to pay, but for a true Royal Star nut, they are often sought after. There is a member here and on Delphi Royal Star forum that re covers seats, I am sure Woody would do a great job, and he is here in the central Florida area, in or near Orlando. If you are interested I can find him for you. OH welcome to the looney bin.
  22. Thanks Dave and everyone else that has replied, some very good information.
  23. A friend that just got one, told me to stay 35 foot or smaller, because of restrictions on some roads and parks. Thanks to all that have replied thus far, good info.
  24. Agreed, but because I do not know, I would like to hear about all potential aspects. Cowpuc had some very good ideas, and that is what I want to hear, options so I can start to form an opinion on what would suit us best, financially and comfort. We looked at some toy haulers a number of years ago, but the garage section takes up so much room they did not seem practical. used motor coaches A,B or C are very plentiful here in Florida, so finding one of those we can afford should not be an issue, just not sure if that is good choice. As Micarl pointed out, cost and fuel will pay for a lot of hotel rooms. There is much to think about.
  25. The wife has decided that when we retire we will get an RV and tour the country. I know nothing about RVs, so I am soliciting input from anyone tat owns one or has owned one to get some ideas on which ones are better than others and what we should look for to spot problems or issues , like leaks or malfunctioning leveling systems. thanks
