  1. Sounds like he was in a hurry to get to his own funeral.
  2. If your as crazy as your the face in your pic your gonna fit right in. We have many seasoned members here that are experts at dodging the white coats so don't be afraid to ask for advice.
  3. They all have been great Rallies and I totally enjoyed each and every one of them. However if I had to choose the most memorable one, for me it would be Guntersville AL. After leaving Canada I hooked up with Jim (aka: Jayceesfolly may he rest in peace ) at Salamanca and we rode down together sticking to the small mountain back roads all the way. It added an extra day of riding but the mountain scenery and riding those twisty mountain roads, just made for an amazing ride. Camping were the deer came right up to your tent and the tour of the Amazing Cathedral caverns all added up to a trip, that for me was unforgettable.
  4. Always a great reminder of good advice. Maybe even more so for seasoned riders since we sometimes get to comfortable and overlook whats important. BTW who you calling crazy?
  5. How can we say NO - after all we let that grumpy ol coot @Marcarl stick when he reduced himself to a spider. It would just be to darn hippo-critical or somt'n likes dat. Plus we likes Trina ----So you kinda owe her a nice dinner outing for having your back.
  6. Very well put and yet there are exceptions were children and the quality of their up bringing does actually come first over self gratification and it actually shows. Yet despite the proven results of good diligent old fashioned parenting, there are still those who despite their amazement at how well kids brought up this way behave and develop good social attitudes, still insist their way is better or put their own gratification first then sit back and wonder why their kids are not so well behaved or develop an attitude of entitlement.
  7. Typical camp breakfast.
  8. I will probably get crucified for what I am about to say. So forgive me if I hide in my corner after my comment but I am a firm believer that the growing increase of parents who spoil rather than discipline their children and the growing trend towards leniency is a big part of the problem. I also believe that when both parents work and kids are shoveled off to daycare rather than one parent staying home to raise the kids is also a factor, though I do realize in many cases do to financial hardship parents have no choice. Toss in the lawyers who manage to turn many black and white situations into grey areas which almost always lets perps off the hook specially if the perp has sufficient financial backing versus those who do not. The confidence rendered in the fact that actions may not result in consequence is IMHO a big factor. I go hide now before the tomatoes and eggs start flying.
  9. I feel your pain
  10. Don @XV1100SE is definitely an upstanding member. And he has not shot me in the tail yet so Yeh I guess he is a great tail gunner.
  11. I feel your sadness brother.
  12. Generally clutch pulsing is the result of warped discs same as a brake pulse. I would probably replace the clutch and and pressure plate. Also make sure your hydraulics is completely releasing pressure to the slave cylinder or whether or not the slave is hanging up for some reason and not fully backing off.
  13. Who Knows - Maybe some of the surplus stuff in my garage - assuming there is any that is.---
  14. I use Tom Tom's phone app. I find it very accurate and unlike many other phone apps it does not require a phone or Data signal to function. Granted when you do not have a signal additional features such as traffic conditions or fuel prices will not function but the Phone will continue working like any other GPS. I also find it to be more accurate than Garmin and much quicker as well as more accurate when doing a search even when your off line. For this reason I have pretty much kissed my Garmin good bye.
  15. I set my fork bearings similar to the way I would set trailer wheel bearings usually 0 to .005'' of lash. roughly 0 to barely detectable movement without being snug. Too tight can be just as bad as too loose. Often too tight you will find the bike difficult to hold in tight bends as it will want to straiten up on you or try to climb to the high side or outside of the turn. Too loose and you could end up with a front end shimmy. Here is my way of doing it, If you do not have the proper tools and specs on hand. Try setting them up like a wheel bearing tighten the first nut up good and tight while turning the forks fully left and right (this step is very important to properly seat the bearings). Next back off a full turn and then lightly snug up. back off 1/8 turn and then tighten lock nut. at this point you should have zero bearing lash or play as well as zero drag when turning left to right. If there has too much drag loosen lock nut and back off bearing nut ever so slightly and re-tighten lock nut. Continue until you get the proper bearing preload. If it has too much bearing play loosen the lock nut tight the bearing ever so slightly and re-tighten lock nut. Continue until you get the proper bearing preload. NOTE! some like to do what is referred to as the bounce test. Personally and for the record I disagree with this technique and would discourage using this technique as there are too many variables that can affect the final results.
  16. I use roundish plastic knobs of about 1-1/2" diameter with studs in them. Part way up the stud I have a jam nut so the knob can stand off a tad for ease of function.
  17. My motorcycle camping does not stray far off from my back packing or canoe tripping. I use a svea 123 camp stove same as when camping. The exception being the use of fresh foods versus freeze-dried or dehydrated when I can get them though I still carry some just in case. If you get farm fresh unwashed eggs, that have not been refrigerated, they will easily last up to two weeks without refrigerating. Camping at rally's is usually restaurants with the rest of the group but I still bring my little svea 123 and a coffee pot.
  18. Sorry to hear she is going through this. I hope and pray that there are better days ahead for both of you.
  19. Obviously I am a specialist. I can FNG with the best of them.
  20. Also try Marine engine part outlets they may not list by vehicle but may be able crossover the part number.
  21. glad you got your issue sorted out.
  22. I wild guess insufficient voltage getting to the screen, due to wiring or contact issues, cold ambient temperature or faulty screen LCD or LED screens can run int laminate separation issues.
  23. Here is a list of some of the key blank numbers that may work that I have put together a few years ago, Just make sure to match the long grooves and configuration. Also I found the long grooves do not have to be a dead on match a slight discrepancy is allowed just make sure the blank slides in and out of your ignition switch smoothly before cutting the blank. Some place will allow you to purchase the blank to try and return later to cut it or exchange it for another blank. In my case I have my own key cutting machine so I just buy the blanks and cut them myself. 1228 or 1227 , X117 or YH48 , X118 OR YH49 , YH29RP-SI , YH29RBP , YH29RP , YH29R , YN-59 , YMA-191 , YM37L , X114 or DA24 , X260 , X241 or SUZ18 , SZ10RP , SZ14RAP , X179 or SUZ12 , X276 or SUZ16 ,
  24. Its a cut copy of a venture key cut from a X118 / YH49 iIlco blank fits 89 and possibly 87 to 89. DA24 is another blank that can be used as well as some of the datsun blanks (but those are long but can be shortened in the key cutter. There is a X117 / YH48 blank which has the opposite configuration also used. The ealier ventures used a similar key but with less or no grooves down its length also with a left or right configuration
