  1. If you haven't found them already, I've had good luck finding the washers at Home Depot. Not sure if they would have a spring or not.
  2. GREAT lookin bike! The coldest I've ridden in so far was 12 on my goldwing with grip heaters and elect gloves. That was back when I was riding 75 miles one way to work. I guess I'll keep my eyes open for another RSV. Maybe I'll get lucky and find one that has been down and scuffed up for cheap. Hey, it's for commuting...not show & tell.
  3. Looking for something to replace my old 1200 Goldwing with for every day all weather use.(I ride full time year round) I like my RSV and may get a second for "Beater" use but I've seen a few Royal Stars for pretty good prices. How well does the Royal Star with factory windshield and lowers protect rider from cold and wet? Looks like there is very little protection for the hands and legs. Maybe just looks?
  4. I put over 300,00 miles in just over 4 years on my Honda using the Rotella T6 5w40 and the ONLY tools to EVER TOUCH the engine were ones to change oil, filters and spark plugs. Still ran like the day I bought it when I sold it. When I got my RSV, I changed it to the Rotella and only time/miles will tell but I expect the same results.
  5. Been there, done that. I now COPY each pic I want to change up and CHANGE THE COPY. That way when I goof up I don't really loose anything.
  6. If you are using windows XP,Vista,7...., Just right click on the thumbnail, choose open with, choose "Paint" and there is a tab on the upper left where you can resize your picture. nothing to download needed to resize your pic.s
  7. My blood pressure raises every time I hear someone use the word ACCIDENT to describe a wreck. There are VERY FEW that are really accidents(something mechanical breaks, force of nature etc.). We all know the consequences of not paying 100% attention while driving. That said, WE CHOOSE to fiddle with the phone or radio, talk to passengers, look off at something etc. etc. If something happens because of a driver not paying 100% attention to their driving.... IT WAS A CHOICE! They CHOSE to not pay attention so it was ON PURPOSE! NOT A ACCIDENT! I'll step down from my soap box now.
  8. I wear a full face helmet when it's raining or cold(keeps my face & ears warm). Sometimes I'll wear a 1/2 helmet but most of the time I don't wear a helmet. When I was run over by a 18 wheeler back in 82 I didn't have a helmet on and never even lost my ball cap. Almost lost a leg and my life though. A couple of years ago when my Goldwing was murdered by a little ol lady that turned left in front of me at the last second I didn't have a helmet on. My face was flattened and nasal cavities crushed either by the bikes windshield when I flew through it or when I slammed down on the pavement. I think a full face helmet would have helped and maybe prevented the reconstructive surgeries but a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet would have been no help. Until they can get a crystal ball to work, We take chances every day and just enjoy life. Who knows,I may be the next victim that gets hit in the head by falling space junk while I'm walking down the street. A helmet might help then too but I choose to walk without one.
  9. Looks the same but don't know it it's the same size or not. Would be nice to find a salvaged one at a good price so you would have all the Computers and wiring harness. Maybe one day a few hundred thousand miles from now when my RSV starts to get tired. http://www.technical-specification.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/2011YamahaVMAX.jpg
  10. If I wanted a RSV with more power, I think swapping a new V-Max powerplant would be the ideal way to go. ENGINE Type:102-cubic-inch (1679cc) liquid-cooled 65° V-4, DOHC, 4 valves/cylinder Bore x Stroke: 90.0mm x 66.0mm Compression Ratio: 11.3:1 Fuel Delivery: Fuel Injection with YCC-T and YCC-I Horsepower 197 Torque 123 ft. lbs. GIDDY UP GO!!
  11. Here are some pic.s I took a few years ago while on my old Goldwing The pic.s don't really do the area justice as it looks much nicer in person! Hill Country Update Stonehenge II has been taken down. BOO!! Last rumor I heard was it would be relocated but haven't heard when or where. Long Live Stonehenge II ! http://i40.tinypic.com/8wcqkm.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/nbuc6c.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/iylx08.jpg
  12. I'll start with my Wifes 2008 V-Star Silverado and my 2003 Midnight RSV http://i39.tinypic.com/311xv9v.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/345d6oz.jpg
  13. I had a 40X60X24H custom box built buy http://www.customtoolboxes.com/ . I got the idea from this site http://goldwing.eurekaboy.com/trailerv3.htm (Mine is the Midnight RSV at the bottom) Lots of good trailer building advice here http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/main.asp?webtag=MCTrailertowing&nav=start&prettyurl=%2FMCTrailertowing
