  1. I came from southern California, and yes an In & out double/double can't be beat. Out here we have five guys burgers. They try to copy them, but not as good.
  2. Just saw the local news, and there was a venture and another bike that was hit by a pickup. The riders were killed. Does anyone know these people?
  3. Thanks guys, i will look into getting a new battery this week.
  4. My bike is an 06' Rsv that was first purchased by the previous owner in Oct. 05. I have never had to have the bike on a tender the year and a half that I have owned it. Lately I noticed that sometimes when I went out to start it, The crank was a little weak, so I put a tender on it. I went out the other day, turned on the ignition, turned off the radio, everything seemed fine, pulled out choke, then pressed the starter. It was like I turned off the ignition, nothing, no lights, no radio, completely dead. I am thinking, I probably need to replace the battery anyway, seeing that is 5 years old. Is this the most likely culprit? What is the best battery to put in the bike? I hate electrical problems.
  5. Good to know, thanks. I don't have the skills, just have a good place to work on the bikes and a great area to ride. Maybe I'll try and put something together after the holidays.
  6. I would like to have a maintenance M&E at my place sometime. I live just about a half mile south of hwy 105 in Lake Conroe, there are great roads in this area to ride, and I have a rather large piece of property to accommodate lots of bikes. I just don't have clue as how to organize one of these. Squidley?
  7. We are dog breeders, so we don't need another puppy, but if you mean something else, then I would be glad to give you our address. southpawpuppies.com
  8. I saw it yesterday on good morning America!
  9. That sounds like a pretty good price. I just payed $80.00 for a one time update about a month ago. And to tell you the truth, I didn't notice much difference. it is still very much out of date. So I mostly use my droid, seems more accurate with more info.
  10. Thanks for the invite, but I won't be able to leave the house that early. I have to take care of my dogs. Won't be able to leave the house until around 10am. and will only be able to stay a couple of hours, but I am looking forward to meeting everyone. See you there!
  11. I will definitely be there. looking forward to it. I might not need anything done. The bike seems to be running great, but it will be nice to have others look at it and also meet some of the guys and learn a few things. I will be on the bike so it will hard to bring food and stuff. Can I contribute money instead?
  12. This sentence doesn't make any sense.
  13. I just ordered The clutch spring upgrade kit from skydoc. Not sure if I need it yet. I will definitely be there, barring any unforeseen circumstances:thumbsup2:.
  14. Well I don't know if there is a connection, but my bike has always run with amsoil and about 200 miles ago I changed over to Rotella T6. The clutch feels like it has a very short release point right at the very end, It's ok in every gear except a little slippage taking off in 1st. Also it feels like it idles at a lower rpm than before and I need to shift at a higher mph than before. I have an 06 with about 26k. It might just be a coincidence with the slippage, might just be time for a new clutch spring. Somebody had them on here for about $40.00 I think, Do you think it would be a good Idea to go ahead and get one? If I find that I don't need one at the MD, then I eventually will. Appreciate any input. Elder:confused07:
  15. I definitely would like to attend the MD on August 21st. I have never been to one, so I don't know what to bring. I think my clutch will need to be looked at as well as maybe having my carbs synced. Do I need to preorder anything? I"m soo confused.
  16. Late season sounds like a good time to have it. It's pretty hot this time of year. I see lots of Bikes around here on weekends, but rarely see a venture. look forward to getting together with some of you sooner or later.
  17. I really don't need anything right now. The bike is running great. I was just wondering when the next one is, because by then I might need some minor adjustments, and it would be nice to meet some of you guys. There is some great riding around here, but I wouldn't mind riding to someone elses house either. Just offering mine up as an option, since I don't have many mechanical skills to offer. I am about 50 mi. north of Houston and about 10 mi. west of I45
  18. I guess I missed Maintenance day in March. I wasn't watching the sight much then. Are there plans for another one in this area. If so when. I don't have much knowledge, But I have a large property and would be willing to have it at my house. (Lake Conroe)
  19. I am looking for a new backrest and was wondering about Utopia or Diamond R. Utopia has one for $189, you have to drill out a couple of holes I guess, and Diamond R has one, but they want $230 for it, but no drilling(not a big deal if I have to drill) I would just like to know if anybody has either one of these, or which one they would recommend. Thanks:fingers-crossed-emo
  20. Got my new links on yesterday, everyone was right. the bike feels so much lighter and more fun to ride. I wanted say to those that haven't met Squidley, what great people he and his wife are. I had never met them before and they treated me like an old friend. Hope my wife and I can go for a ride with them soon. Thanks again Squidley.
  21. Thanks, I know a mechanic, he just hasn't done the links before. It'll probably be pretty easy for him to do. What sort of time should I expect to pay for? about an hour?
  22. I'd love to do that. I usually ride with a friend that has a goldwing, and sometimes we ride up to Yankees in Carlos, There will be 200 bikes there and I am the only one with a Venture. I also wanted to ask you if you would recommend anybody in our area to install the links. I got them from Diamond R on Saturday. I appreciate your input.

    Insurance cost

correction. I do have full coverage, but I have 2 bikes and the quote of $75.00 is for my Vstar 1100. My 06' venture is $171.00 per year, comp $250.00 deductible, collision $500.00 deductible. Sorry about that. Still not bad, and as I said much cheaper than a Harley or Goldwing.
  24. I ordered the level links today, but I was wondering about the 130 front tire being squirrelly, Like some people were saying. So I checked the tire sizes for other touring bikes and they all use the 130's on the front. So there must be something to it. I would appreciate any opinions on this.

That is what they told me when I called to ask about the harley and the honda. I will check again tomorrow too see if there is a mistake. It does seem awfully cheap.
