  1. Got a back packer fishing rod that will fit on that scooter? I don't see a rod holder mounted anywhere? Here's a pic of my custom chromed fishing rod holder. It's a sink drain pipe extension from Lowe's (about $4). I cut a square hole on the inside so one of the square shouldered carriage bolts holding the ball platform to the side rail would fit through it, and just tightened it down. There's a long machine screw and nut across the bottom to support the fishing rod from the end, not the grip.
  2. The tires are small, can't remember if 8" or 10". The semi-knobby ones in the pic were on the trailer when I bought it. I ASSumed they were balanced and ready to go. After a trip from NJ to Cape Cod, ME, NH, and back, they were severely cupped and would not have made it to Sturgis the next day. I had to pack the bike with only the "necessities" for the trip to SD. The replacements have a more street bike appropriate tread, and after a good maunual balancing job, have made several long trips with no adverse wear.
  3. The blanked out plates I've seen done on vehicles listed for sale, and I was just messing with the paint program when a few years ago. Trailer is plenty stable, no worries there. Ground clearance makes it easy to remove it from the bike and haul it through the woods to the campsite, rolling right over rocks and stumps, and not having to make several trips to unload it! One of the coolest things is it folds up. Remove the cargo box, pull the wire connector, unlatch the tonge and pull it out, and the front of the platform hinges down to expose the pins holding the wheels in place. Slide the pins forward and the wheels fold in, then the platform folds over the wheels. There's even a carrying handle in the middle to carry it like a big, flat, 50# aluminum suitcase! I can fold it up and put it inside the cargo box.
  4. None of this makes any sense...unless maybe yall are talking about saddlebag LINERS. I think that's what they mean. I use mine for overnight bags or for taking laundry to and from the coin laundry. Oh, they also work well as saddle bag liners!
  5. I'm in the eastern Ohio/Pittsburgh area, so let me know when you'll be coming by and I'll try to meet up with you.
  6. The RSTD is as comfortable of a MC as you'll find, I believe. I guess you've never ridden a ST1100 on a long trip. I flew out to Chicago from NJ several years ago to pick up one a friend bought on Ebay. Rode from Chicago to Indiana, spent the night, and rode to NJ the next day. When I got home I tossed the keys to my VR to him and said "let's go for a ride, you can take my bike." Yes, that good.
  7. Don't leave out the BMW K1200LT. If it fits you, it is a really great touring bike. That'd be my choice, but not a new one. The older ones (pre-'05?) get better mileage, hence more range on a tank. Besides, they only made my favorite Canyon Red Metallic in '99 and 2000.
  8. Those Winchesters sound like the last batch of Remington 22LRs I bought. Kept getting duds in my pistol, and in both .22 rifles. A lot of loose bullets too. I like the copper plated Federal 22LR better. Never had a problem with either Remington or Winchester .38 or .357.
  9. I bounced down the sidewalk on my head once wearing a full-face helmet. It saved my face, and maybe my life, so yes, I always wear a helmet!
  10. Mt Washington is an awesome place, another great spot is the ride up Whiteface in Lake Placid, Yep, been up both. At least Whiteface is paved all the way. I was up Mt Washington in '03, and I remember quite a bit of gravel surface. Not too bad going up, but a little scary coming down, looking over the sides!
  11. Hi guys, new member here! There seems to be an add on cooler of some kind on the radiator grille. Can't see it to well but it don't look like the grille that I remember on these bikes. I think you're looking at the fins on the radiator cover. Looks like mine. Doug
