  1. Thanks for the input, guess I will just ride it and see what happens. dont think its a serious issue was just wondering if anyone else has had the same opinion of the valve train noise. could be my ocd ear. No riding this weekend, owner of the shop is out of town, just me here all weekend. hopefully we can get together soon
  2. well the bike is new to me and I love it, but my question is this. after cruising the bike for a while and getting back to an "in town" mode, the valve train seems to be extremely noisy. especially between 1500 and 2000 rpm. The dealer tells me thats normal. have you noticed anything with yours?
  3. Does anyone here have the stratoliner or roadliner? Would like to pick your brain.

  6. Hello to all, was wondering if anyone has done a coolant change on their second gen and if so how involved is the job. 20,000 on mine. Thanks John
  7. Had a similar problem with my 07, Was in and out of the shop several times while they"GUESSED" what the problem was. Turned out to be a couple of things. First the drive dampers where not installed correctly (there is a tech bulletin on this) they were not installed to the correct depth. Second, the wheel was not torqued correctly, there is a specific procedure which must be used. (also a tech bulletin ) Third, there were a batch of rear axles that were A. bent or out of spec out of the box, or B. became out of spec after improper torque procedures. Either way I have come to love this bike, and yes it is somewhat noisy and it requires a bit more maintenance than other bikes I have owned but overall has been a great runner with a hell of a personality all its own.
  8. Yup!!! Stuck float. Just had the exact same problem with my 06. gas all over the bottom of the front lower fairing, ran like a puddle till I shut the gas off. Got alot of help from the gang here and had it fixed in a couple of hours. Not a big deal. Hey I figure if I can do it ANYONE can!!
  9. Pulled the carbs off last night and sure enuff stuck needle (front left) Not a difficult job, just needed to hear from a few of you to get up the confidence to give it a shot. Took it out last night and walla! back to her old self again. and hey, no leaks! Now if I could only get rid of that annoying popping and backfiring on deceleration. Sincere thanks to all !!! John:cool10:
  10. Well, Fired up the 06 venture today and have a pretty heavy fuel leak coming from the front of the bike of all places. haven't taken the tank off yet but at this point its leaking from the bottom of the cowling around the radiator. when I shut the fuel off it stops. Bike seems to run fine but as soon as I turn the fuel back on she starts pouring out. First thought was stuck float pin but if that was the case wouldn't I see fuel coming from the overflow tubes? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. John
  11. The shield is not tinted, but is curved at the top. I believe. more curved on the sides though
  12. I have an xxl clearview shield w/vent 2nd gen. for sale brand new in box. still has the clear film on it. first 175$ plus shipping takes it. John 630-202-9490 Long story but the bottom line is I dont need it. Have the yamaha x wide shield now and its staying right where it is.
  13. Holly and I have an 06 venture and we had the same problem, after 500 miles... woosh, woosh, woosh, and would change with our speed. We took her in twice for the problem which seemed fine after we got the bike back but sure enuff a few hundred miles later...... woosh, woosh, woosh, Bottom line for us was this, there is a service bulletin on this problem and it can be a combination of two things 1. the damper bushings not fully seated, 2. out of spec axle, which ultimately was what solved ours. hope this helps.
  14. On the way back from n.c. last year we had some trouble with our 06 venture. Took the bike to a dealer in nashville and we were stranded in a hotel for 3 days. filed my paperwork when we got back and yamaha covered all our hotel expenses including meals and drinks. took a while to get reimbursed but we got it. turns out they would have covered rental car as well.
  15. Took the fairing off recently and thought that was the reason my wires were getting pinched ( not routing them correctly on reassembly) yes, I am having the exact same problem with ours. looks like I can route them in front of the mounting bracket for the signals and that should keep them out of the way.
