  1. I don't think this is political. It applies to everyone. My sister in law has never taken responsibility for anything. Her financial plan is "Some guy will show up and pay for it all" She is now in her 40's and whines about having nothing.

    Why?

Don't ask me why. I wasn't there. I didn't do it. I promise not to do it again.

    Eagles

A beautiful but cold morning with the sun shining and a light mist on the lake. Just finished watching two eagles chasing a duck on the lake. Every time the duck came up the eagles would go for it. Twice they scored a hit but all they got was feathers. The duck kept diving and finally got away. I have watched them going after fish before but this is the first time I have seen them chase a duck.
  4. Sounds like she really kept her head.....literally.
  5. 1.5 inches...that should shut Victoria down completely. We got 4 inches here. Should be gone by this afternoon.
  6. I remember that one. FYI they use an air cannon to fire chicken and goose carcasses at aircraft to simulate in air collisions with birds.
  7. On our recent trip to Vegas we saw gas from $2.80/gal in Oregon to $3.60/gal. in Vegas. It sure was nice to fill up for $50.00 rather than the usual $95.00 here.

It is all in the expression. standard....why? txt.............y? wife............WHY!!!!! kids.............wwwwwhhhhhyyyyyyyyyy??????
  9. It is a fairly common scam in this area. Condor...like the frog said " time is fun when you are having flies"
  10. We just got back from Vegas. We stayed at the Holliday Inn Desert Club. it is condos you can rent by the week. It is on Korval st right behind the Flamingo and 1 block from the high roller. We were disappointed with the food and prices. It has been a few years but we felt Vegas has really gone downhill. We shopped at Smiths and got good food at food prices which we prepared in our condo. We did get one good meal at Ellis Island rib bar. I won $500.00 but the rad on my truck went and it cost $495.00 to replace it. Auto Air and More had the rad replaced in less than two hours and gave me rides to and from the condo. On the way down from Vancouver we went on the I 5 which was the usual mess then switched to the 405 which was backed up. Did not get into high gear until we left the Dalles after stopping for lunch at Cousins. The road to Bend Or was nice with little traffic. At Bend we stayed at Shilo inn and had a very nice suite. Do not go across the street to McGraths fish house. The menu looks great and the service is good but the food is inedible. While we were there we saw people at three other tables send their food back. Being Canadian we don't like to complain but when the limit is reached it is reached. The manager was summoned and he got it with both barrels and in stereo. We stopped at Adin California and had lunch at the Adin supply co. It was built in 1909 and looks the same as then. It is the general store, liquor store, sporting goods store, Handicraft store, butcher shop, bakery and delicatessen. It has more stuffed heads on the walls than are in the Senate and with bigger racks than you will see at the Oscars. You can custom order your food and it is really good. We drove through Death Valley on the way back. Zabrinski point is worth a stop. On the way home we found a little road ( I think it was 227 in Or) and I am sure the front end of the truck was into the next corner while the back end was still coming out of the last one. When we got near Seattle on I 5 and 405 I counted 14 motorcycle cops and two unmarked cars all handing out tickets.

    OOPS

    Bin there, done that.
  12. On my 02 I have replaced tires and brake pads and done routine maintenance. Just had to replace boots and get some carb work but that is the only problem in 12 years of riding. If you decide on the extended warranty make sure it covers parts and labour both. Otherwise it is not worth it. I favour Avon tires.
  13. Canada is a peace loving country but we are armed. It is just much more difficult to get guns and there are thorough background checks. Unfortunately extremists do have their supporters willing to give them guns. "Well may the world read a lesson, well may it learn and be wise; not to the strong is the battle; not to the swift is the prize; loud is the boast of the despot, clanking his nation in arms, but beware of a peace loving people when they sweep from their forests and farms." Robert Stead, canadian poet.
  14. I grew up in Saanich on Vancouver Island. We never locked our doors. I lived in Richmond and worked at the Vancouver airport for 11 years. We never locked our doors. I have lived on Saltspring for 37 years and have yet to lock our doors. The few murders in Vancouver/Surrey/Langley are all drug related (NRP...no real people involved). The last shooting death on Saltspring happened 40 years ago when someone gave a mentally challenged guy a gun and told him to play cowboy. I feel safe here.
  15. It is a wakeup call for all the bleeding hearts. Insane terrorism is world wide and it will not stop until we stop it.
  16. What are snow and ice? I have heard of them and think I may have even seen some long ago.
  17. I would definitely be interested but it would depend on equipment and style. I am happy with my 02 midnight and a new Venture would have to be very good to tempt me to spend that much money.
  18. Supposedly a hard bed cover will help mileage by 10-15%. Low rolling resistance on the tires also helps.
  19. I get money from the bank and use it in nearly all my transactions. I have a card but only use it in an emergency. Not much chance of getting hacked.
  20. I forgot to mention I have a hard cover for the box. That definitely helps the milage.
  21. I have an 02 dodge ram 1500 extended cab 4X4. We drove from Saltspring to Wyoming with another couple and all our luggage. My wife kept track of the milage. We got 27 mpg on the trip. I got a full tuneup before we went. added a little sea foam and I am partial to Michelin tires. I have always run them on my cars and trucks. I have michelin LT ( light truck) tires which will take up to 80 lbs. I ran them at 70 lbs. I also have a standard 5 speed shift which I think helped.
  22. At the end of my life I want to be able to say "I am glad I did, not I wish I had"
  23. I had a problem with batteries going dead all the time. I discovered that if I had the tape deck or radio on and just shut the bike off the battery would go dead, if I shut off the tape or radio before shutting off the bike I had no problem.
  24. Ugly but intriguing.
  25. My chainsaw would run for a while then quit. The vent tube was plugged. This created a vacuum as the gas was pumped out and the gas quit flowing. Another time it was the filter on the fuel pickup in the tank that was plugged. Both times just cleaned them and they worked fine.
