  1. We have a bit of a problem with the lights not being synced but as soon as someone complains they fix it. Here they use intersection cameras to determine fault in the event of an accident. I have never heard of anyone here getting a ticket for driving too slow. I wish they would start handing them out. It is frustrating to be stuck behind someone going half the speed limit and no chance to get past them.
  2. Good article in today's Vancouver Province about red light runners. I agree with Rick ( Silver T) that it is too prevalent. I hate the speed trap photo cameras as they have nothing to do with reducing accidents and everything to do with grabbing cash. I do like intersection cameras as they can save lives if the people running the lights start getting tickets in the mail.
  3. I have LA Choppers. Fit right on, no brackets needed. The hardware comes with them.
  4. Government agency? Clocklike precision?
  5. Actually It was the native indians who made a big difference in the war of 1812. When they went to war it was total take no prisoners ....man, woman or child....war and they scared anyone going up against them. Because they were already here do they qualify as the first Canadians even though it wasn't called Canada at the time?
  6. Brigette Bardot.....And God Created Woman.
  7. Yep, I agree. But since big business and lobbyists buy all the politicians they would probably hijack the internet the way they have hijacked the electoral process. We would need a real grass roots system with safeguards to ensure each vote got recorded and counted. I am all for starting all over again. Any system gets outdated with time.
  8. Why ride? Why ski, why sail, why rock climb, why fly, why fish, why enjoy life? Why not sit in a corner and do nothing? Because I want to live before I die.

  10. Looks like we might get some frost tonight.
  11. It suits you Rick.
  12. So where was the snow? We rarely get snow here but when we do it is always the big fancy 4X4's in the ditch. They don't have a clue. We get some people from the mid west and east who tell us we don't know how to drive in the snow. They wind up in the ditch because we get goose grease out here while they get nice dry snow back there with lots of traction.
  13. Bin there. I had to ride about ten miles through 6 inches of snow. The snow we get out on the coast is not dry and powdery, it is slick as goose grease. a friend went down on black ice one time. The cop showed up, stepped out of his car and went flat on his ass.
  14. MEDICATION As in " Sorry I can't help you move, I am on medication".
  15. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt" Mark Twain, I believe. I am not a lurker, merely an innocent bystander. I enjoy all the info here but have little I can add.
  16. There is an excellent video out called "Grass". It is about the cost ( Trillions) of the war on pot and the lack of result. The growth of Hemp would affect cotton profits. Mexican immigrants used it as a spice in their cooking. Making it illegal allowed them to be deported at any time. I have tried pot but since I don't smoke I did not care for smoking it but I liked it baked into cookies or brownies. That was many years ago and I haven't bothered with it since, I prefer single malt Scotch. Years ago I applied for a job as a police officer. I was invited for an interview. During the interview the sergeant asked what my opinion of pot was. I said it should be legalized and sold and taxed the same as alcohol with the same restrictions. He then asked what I thought of hard drugs such as heroin etc. I said put the users in treatment and take the dealers out into the woods and shoot them. He had a hard time keeping a straight face. I distinctly saw his moustache twitch. I made it to the next level.

    SAS

Lone survivor is similar to an operation carried out by the British SAS in Iraq. It was called Bravo two zero. Only one survivor.
  18. Nice sunshiny day here. Out on the sundeck in shirtsleeves. My son is in Whitby Ont. Brother in law in Ottawa, friends in Oshawa and Chatham. Friends in Winterpeg...Winnipeg to us, also Edmonton and Calgary. I do enjoy rubbing it in. One of lifes little pleasures.
  19. OOOOOOHH.....You are in for a tongue lashing!
  20. Canada started the war without a real army or navy. They finished it with the third largest navy in the world and one of the strongest armies. Canadians were the first to break through German defences on D day. Canadians broke the back of German defences at Vimy Ridge. After Vimy the Germans were retreating. Canadian ships provided most of the convoy escorts in the Atlantic. Canadians (and British and Americans) broke through the German defences in Italy. The British also invaded Africa. The Canadians and British also invaded Sicily. The Americans were strong in Europe but the Pacific is where they really shone. To recover from the attack in Hawaii the way they did was great. The Pacific theater was mostly American with help from Australians, New Zealanders and Canadians, not to mention natives. In short, no one country can claim victory, it was all fighting together that provided the victory.
  21. I was raised Anglican, which is christian, but I am agnostic. That is basically show me the proof and I will believe in whatever. I am happy to wish everyone merry christmas or to help them celebrate any of their religious festivals. To me it is a chance to experience new customs, and more importantly, new foods. Any excuse for a party.
  22. Got a beautiful early Christmas present this morning. We got up and were looking out at the lake which had a rainbow on it. An eagle flew through the rainbow and came straight at our window then swooped up over the house, went around and did it again. Of course we did not have a camera handy. It was wonderful. Merry Christmas to one and all.
  23. The mosquitos in Manitoba are big enough to ride on. We use them to hunt the bears, Moose and deer from the air. Bears, moose and deer are all quite tasty as are most of the bares that hang out on wreck beach ( a local nude beach). They are all quite tasty as are the cougars. The cougars are not really a threat as they mostly hang out by the high school and can't run very fast in their high heels.
  24. I do not have any extra baffles or wrap on the LA choppers. They are just as they came out of the box. I did have to learn to quit blipping the throttle on startup as that scared anyone standing behind me.
