  1. 40 front, 45 rear. Nearly all my riding is one up.
  2. When I got my Venture I tried to join the Star chapter in Victoria BC. It was difficult to join and when I finally did I was thoroughly snubbed as the Venture was not really a Star. I was not allowed to post on their web site. I quit.
  3. When I decided to get a cruiser I started shopping for a first gen. Then at a bike show I saw my 02 midnight special and was sold on it.
  4. The cops here are real low tech. They park a van at an angle to the road then open both windows and look through with a spotter scope. They can see if you are wearing a seat belt or are texting or yapping on a cellphone. it works well.
  5. Born in 44 so I remember them all, in fact I owned a lot of them. Annette, now there was a Mouseketeer!
  6. Be sure to swing by Sedona.
  7. Reminds me of the time I was slicing jalapenos for my wifes salsa. I was wearing shorts and absentmindedly slid my hand down the back of the shorts to scratch my ass. Things quickly got exciting.
  8. My Madura would go 150 mph so I went for the higher speed rating.
  9. If someone asks you for a light you can really light them up.
  10. Turning the darn computer on and getting to this site is about the extent of my abilities. There are pictures of the 2014 run posted on the net. Google Belt Drive Betty Saltspring island toy run 2014 under event contact click on website click to visit click on the 46 chev p/u. my bike was broken (carbs) so I had to lead it with the truck. For more pictures just Google Saltspring Island toy run 2014.
  11. Just got back from the Port Alberni toy run. We run from Little Qualicum Falls into Port Alberni, about a 40 minute run. I was number 430 when I went in and parked the bike. I went for coffee and donuts and when I got back another 1000 bikes had pulled in. Had a heck of a time finding my bike again. There is one section in the middle of town going up a steep hill where everyone cranks it hard. Had a Harley pull up next to me and challenge me. That lasted about 1.5 seconds until he was fading back in my mirrors. One guy was right up front at the start then could not get his bike started. 1500 bikers had to go around him. Guess what brand it was. On the ferry home I met a guy who said he had run into a toy run on Saltspring last Sept. I told him that was the last weekend in August. He said the guy leading was wearing a Santa suit He nearly choked when I said that would be me.
  12. SOA.......I got the t shirt....that is Sons of Arthritis....Ibuprofen Chapter.
  13. Brought to you by the same people who keep telling us there is a new venture on the way.

    toy run

Going on the Pt Alberni toy run on the 13 Sept. A bunch leaving Mill Bay at 0700 and I will meet them at Russell farms at 0740. We are meeting others at Nanoose Bay Petro can and leaving there at 0930 for Little Qualicum falls. Anyone from the Victoria/ Duncan/Nanaimo/ etc area who wants to join us is welcome to. We are the Defenders group. Should wind up with about 1500 bikes.
  15. Have to miss this one. 2212 miles each way. A bit far for me.
  16. I want it. It matches my Santa suit perfectly. Would be great for leading the toy run.
  17. I guess you could call me a Neanderthal but I have no use for a cell phone. I am retired which means I do what I want when I want. I understand some people need to be in touch all the time with family and work but I don't need it. I have survived 70 years without one and am quite happy to go out in the boat, go riding etc and have no one bug me. I understand they can be useful in an emergency but people have been having emergencies since the beginning of time and have survived. It used to be called community involvement. It is still out there most places but cell phones and i pods etc are destroying it. I don't want to listen to music when I am out sailing. The music of the waves is enough. I don't want to listen to music when I am riding, the music of the road is enough.
  18. That one has been going around for years. It is totally bogus. I remember being warned about flashing the lights when I was in high school. That is decades ago.
  19. I believe that ,as with many problems, education and information are the answers. Motorcycle awareness and personal responsibility and liability for ones actions must be included in all driving education programs and tests. Driving education should be made mandatory for anyone wanting a drivers licence. It is a licence allowing you to drive, not a licence to kill. I also find a very loud horn helps.
  20. Glad you are OK. One more thing to check. We were down in Kauai in Feb/March and we loved it. P.S. I always get my wife to check my nuts....the bike is another matter.
  21. Sounds rather like a mini stroke. Not a big problem but something that needs to be checked before a big one happens.
  22. Had our Santa Clause toy run this weekend. You would think people would notice someone in a bright red suit followed by about 120 bikers but no. A woman pulled out right in front of us and proceeded to go about 10 mph while waving at us. A guy in a pickup went past the flaggers we had out and cut left in front of us then deliberately went very slowly, almost stopped. At the next intersection he stopped and refused to move even though the police were waving him through. He finally moved when we started passing him. Like they say...you just can't fix stupid.

    Help!

Worked on it again and all I could get was three cylinders and sometimes four if the revs were just right. Gave up and led the run in my 47 chev pickup rat rod. It worked out well. One of the original organizers has cancer so she could not ride but she got to make one last run in the pickup.

    Help!

I have noticed that it runs on all four if the throttle is just right. It cuts out soon as I try to get it up a hill.

    Help!

Drained the carbs, checked fuel for water, put in a can of seafoam, sprayed the carbs with cleaner. Have got it from two cylinders to three and sometimes four. I noticed lots of fuel seeming to come from the left two carbs. Going to let it sit tonight then try again in the morning. Running out of time.
