  2. Those darn porn sites get you again?
  3. you want to drive that you will have to change your name to Luke Skywalker.
  4. In this area the wind is fickle, unreliable, untrustworthy, and will disappear just as you get caught in an 8 knot rip tide. I have gone out the harbour with the spinnaker up ( big multicolour sail used for down wind only) and passed within 40 ft of a boat with spinnaker up going the opposite direction. I passed within 30 ft of a boat sitting totally becalmed, with wine glasses sitting on the deck, while I was pounding upwind through 4 ft breakers. On the other hand my friend who has a boat back on lake Ontario goes out, sets the sail on one tack and doesn't touch it for the next 4 days. Boring.
  5. I have a video that was made in the last days of the square riggers. A crew member on one of the last square riggers to round the horn took a movie camera with him. It is amazing to get the view from up in the rigging as the hull disappears under the breakers sweeping the deck. The view from the top mast as it sweeps from 50 ft out to one side over the water then sweeps across the deck to go 50 ft out on the other side is amazing. Wooden ships and iron men.
  6. I know the story, and it hasn't ended yet. Our counter top stove packed it in so she got a new one, a black one. Now the fridge did not match so we had to get rid of a perfectly good fridge and get a black one. Got to admit they do look nice but now the dish washer does not match, Nether does the microwave.
  7. And here I thought this site was going X rated, darn.
  8. I love sailing. I have been a lot of competitions and even won some. I especially like ghosting along single handed at night, just the moon, stars and phosphorescence streaming off the stern. On the other hand I love getting out in real weather where you are reefed to the max and not sure if you are going to make it.
  9. I like a deep rumble on any bike. I do not like the overly loud pipes. When riding with a group I always try to move away from the Harleys. My pipes are not too loud when cruising but do have a real loud sound when accelerating.
  10. Obviously it has been a loooooong winter, too looooong.
  11. I always had sports cars which I drove hard and fast. In fact the cops used to call my last one, an Austin Healey 3000 MkIII, "Kerry Butler and the incredible flying machine". They became too expensive so I decided to try a motorcycle as they were far cheaper. My first bike was a Yamaha 400. I had that bike for many years and had a lot of fun with it.
  12. Saltspring island is even better situated. The weather comes in off the ocean and hits Vancouver island and dumps the first load of rain then moves up the valley behind Vancouver and dumps the rest, while we sit here in the sunshine. 74 F in the shade today on my sun deck. Being surrounded by the ocean we rarely get really hot or really cold. The interior is a different story with all those mountains. We hear horror stories about places east of the Rockies but we don't believe them. It can't really get that cold and snowy can it?
  13. Sat out on the sundeck today. 72 in the shade. I kept spilling my beer as my right wrist kept twitching.
  14. There are a lot of people at Walmart that I would not want anywhere near a gun.
  15. I like it. Now, if only it were a V4.
  16. We did our usual toast and coffee and newspaper in bed but with chocolates as well. Now we are going down to the Rod and Gun where Janet will run the kitchen while I flip burgers and help out on the firing line. We are holding a fundraiser to help our club fight off massive attacks by a multi millionaire land developer who wants to destroy it in order to build a sub division and make himself even richer. I suggested we invite him to the event, he could hold the targets.
  17. Just picked up a high milage Dodge Chinook motorhome. The deciding factor was that it was still the original owner who drove truck for a living and it was well maintained and in terrific condition. In this case high mileage and age were topped by good condition, and low price due to high mileage and age. Each case is different and you have to decide what aspect is most important to you.
  18. licked the dirt off the tires then went to get a coffee. the bike was so nice and clean that he could not find it when he got back so he..
  19. I have lots of early 50' 60's rock and roll but they are all on vinyl. I bought them when they first came out. I even have Elvis and the Everlys on 78 if anyone remembers that.
  20. A convertible that was passing by. It jumped in and....
  21. I know nothing, honest. I didn't do it and I promise I won't do it again. What are you talking about? Some of us are teckno challenged.
  22. No bike will do everything. Decide what type of riding you want to do then shop around for the best bike you can afford.
  23. Mount handlebars on the sides of the computer, put on your helmet, que up a biker video and make bike noises.
  24. Alternate route....head out to the coast and take the coast road up to Port Angeles and the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver island where you could be met by some Venture riders to escort you via Sooke and Duncan up to Nanaimo and ferry to the mainland then up to Whistler and beyond to Kamloops. Great scenery all the way. I would aim for June ( can sometimes be wet) July , August or September. Sept is my favorite month. The peak to peak gondola ride in Whistler is the highest and longest in the world. Take the glass bottom one for a real thrill.
  25. I would head up to Spokane ( watch out for many radar traps near there) then on up to Cranbrook BC and plan to spend some time at Nelson. Several nice loop rides from there. Head west to Hope then north to Kitimat. It really doesn't matter what route you take you will be winding through mountains, past lakes and along rivers with some of the best scenery in the world.
