  1. The ambulance attendants kept thanking me for wearing the protective gear.
  2. "Ride like you are invisible, because you are,"
  3. Go lie down and think happy thoughts. It helps.
  4. Nah, it would keep breaking down. Every time you went up a hill it would slow right down. ( apologies to any Hardly owners here but I could not resist)
  5. Really sorry to hear that. Stay strong.
  6. Due to my accident they gave me an ecg and discovered my a-fib. For the past 3-4 months I had been really tired and would even fall asleep during the day. I was told that I had to go on a blood thinner right away. They will use the paddles to shock my heart into stopping then use them again to re start it, hopefully in sync. If that doesn't work I will be on thinners. I have a friend who has been through it years ago and is fine.
  7. I feel your pain. ( broken right ankle, broken ribs, for me). Get a copy of the police report and make sure it is correct. Get a contact for any witnesses. She will likely claim you ran the red and were speeding.
  8. I presume you are not talking about the infamous Manitoba skeeters. It takes a 50 cal to bring them down, then you fillet them with a chain saw. Soup for all.
  9. I can fully appreciate his pain. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
  10. Have you googled Proctologist?
  11. Out now. As it is Sunday still have not seen bike. Going to phone tomorrow. Doc says five weeks for the ankle a little less for the ribs. P ray for me, Janet might . decide shooting is quicker than divorce. What I saw at the site is hopeful, No fluids leaking. Crash bar bent back to the floor board on left side. Tire right off rim Not much cosmetic damage. There is a long gouge in the pavement where the highway peg dug in and slowed it right down and helped keep the body off the pavement.
  12. Off to hospital now. When they were running tests they found a problem with my heart that places me at high risk for stroke. I will be going on a blood thinner like warafin when I get out. You may now start the rat jokes. I do have a rat rod. 46 chev p/u. At least something about me will be thinner.
  13. Many thanks for the good wishes. It all helps.
  14. It only hurts when I laugh. The ambulance girls and the hospital nurses all said I was a tough old coot. Would have been nice if they had left off the "old coot" bit. Hope to get to see the bike tomorrow after the operation.
  15. Coming back from Naniamo on the highway the car in front kicked out a piece of wood with some metal shards attached. Right into my front tire. Shredded it. Death wobble and down at about 80 kph. Helmet did its job...must get new one...crash bar did its job...must get new one...heavy leather jacket did its job...don't need new one...boots did their job. Still wound up with cracked ribs and broken ankle. Have to go to Duncan tomorrow to get pin put in. Have not been able to check on bike yet.
  16. Hmmmmmm! Based on that formula I could double the speed limit and the fine would be about $10.00.
  17. I like my Avons. Make the bike feel lighter.
  18. I live on salt spring island. Ice is what you put in a drink.
  19. what I think?
  20. Got no problem with bovine excrement. Got a real good whiff of it riding through farmland the other day. It is the odor of bovine excrement so prevalent in politics, media, and upper management that I fine very offensive.
  21. Doug....As Mark Twain said " If they don't let my dog into heaven I'm not going"
  22. V4 or even a V6. Lots of power and torque. Full instrumentation, I like to know what is happening before it happens. Lighter weight, a bit lower seating. My venture is great on the road but a bit much in the parking lot. I am now 71 and I can see a lighter bike in the future. The Indian Scout looks interesting. I love the look and feel of my 02 Midnight Special. Went to a show, saw it, sat on it, bought it. I intend to keep it as long as I can, unless the new Venture is too tempting.
  23. Perhaps Nina could give you a nice relaxing wax and polish. Looking forward to seeing you at Yreka and both of you on Salt Spring.
  24. No joke. Beware going through customs. One guy sat on his bike talking to the customs officer. He had turned the bike off and left the key in the ignition. when he took off his helmet to better talk to the officer he was charged with riding without a helmet. They threatened to confiscate the bike and give him a large fine. He called BCCOM ( British Columbia Coalition of Motorcyclists) who provided a lawyer who called customs and got it straightened out.
  25. V4 or V6, power and torque, full instrumentation, lighter weight. I love my 02 midnight special. Went to a show, saw it, sat on it, bought it. But I am now 71 and 865 lbs is getting a bit much to handle in the parking lot. No problem on the road. The Indian Scout looks interesting if I were to down size. A bit lower seat height would help as well.
