  1. Although 12.5 may not be considered fully charged, it is high enough that the motorcycle should start. If the voltage is dropping to 3 Volts, I would say you have a bad battery. What model battery do you have in it?
  2. I should have posted this a while back, but time has not been on my side. Better late than never, right? I put a load test on 2 different PC680 and ETX18L. First test: 1. PC680 drawn down to 9.5V with Carbon Pile Load Tester, 390CCA 2. ETX18L drawn down to 9.5V with Carbon Pile Load Tester, 650 CCA Second test: 1. PC680 drawn down to 9.5V with Carbon Pile Load Tester, 400CCA 2. ETX18L drawn down to 9.5V with Carbon Pile Load Tester, 700 CCA The first and second test were performed using different batteries. Both sets of batteries were initially charged with a 500mAH automatic charger, then left to sit for 14 days, not connected to the charger. Given this information I would without a doubt choose the ETX18L over the PC680. http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/deka.html A quick side note, if anyone is in the Central Florida area, we have a special on 6 Volt Golf Cart Batteries, they are $65.00 each. We can deliver to Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Gainesville, Green Cove Springs, Orange Park, Flagler County, Lake City, and Hastings, on most orders. Have a great day guys,
  3. Hey Mike, What I would really like to do to answer that question would be to put a PC680 in a venture, and a ETX18L in another venture, and use them over the same terrain, to see which one fails first. Thats a very tough question. Looking at what I do know, the ETX18L has a slightly higher Amp Hour Rating. What this means is it will crank for a longer period of time at a higher cranking amp than the PC680. Later today I will put a Load test on a fully charged ETX18L and a fully charged PC680 to compare the actual Cold Cranking Amps. I will post my results in this thread. I have been selling both Deka and Odyssey for many years, and I have never once had a complaint on either. If it were me making the choice I would chose the ETX18L. I would chose it for 3 reasons, 1 it fits the battery box perfectly, 2 it will crank for a longer period of time if I have trouble starting the egine, and 3 it costs much less. Thats just me though. Both batteries handle heat and vibration extremely well, as I said its a tough question. Condor the ETX20L would be a direct replacement for the 1300CC XVZ13 Venture from 1996 to 2007. Deka batteries carry a 1 year free replacement warranty. I hope this helps!
  4. Hey guys, Wow! This is one heckuva long thread. Lots of good information though, there is definitely a difference between AGM and Gel. In my opinion AGM are the way to go though. There are a couple of things I would like to state: First, No motorcycle battery Made in the USA will have to be filled with acid when it arrives. Basically the only company that manufactures motorcycle(powersport) batteries domestically is East Penn, and Odyssey. Big crank is just a private label for the Deka batteries. Anytime a Deka battery will fit, use it. We have much better battery technology than China/Taiwan. The battery will last MUCH longer. I have this battery available, ETX18L, at a flat rate of $82.95 including shipping anywhere in the continental USA. http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/deka.html Feel free to order by phone: 386-328-9024 8AM to 5PM Eastern Time, just ask for Joshua or Jason. Anyone that has ordered from me in the past can attest to the fact that my batteries ALWAYS come with the absolute best packing. Have a great night guys,
  5. The UB12180 is really meant for computer backups, emergency lighting, and other slow drain devices. I don't think it is built for the harshness of a motorcycle. Powermax is made in China. As far as I know the only Powersport batteries manufactured in the US are Odyssey and Deka-Eastpenn.

    WD-40

We use white markers at the battery store to mark automotive batteries. In some instances we want to remove the the markings and we use WD-40, works great. I also rebuild cordless drill packs and I always spray them with WD-40 and wipe them down with a cloth afterward. Makes the casings really shiny Im going to try using it to remove bugs from the front of our vehicles this summer, love bugs are horrible in Florida.
  7. If you have a Volt Meter(Multi-Meter) handy, it may be a good idea to hook it up to the pig-tail just to be 100% sure you have identified the Positive correctly.
  8. I bought my wife and I the Iphone 3G about 3 months ago. I got the 16 Gig and she got the 8 Gig. She has not experienced any problems with her phone, but I have. Last month I began having problems dialing as well as receiving phone calls. Email, Internet, Voicemail all worked. So basically I had the Iphone without the phone. I spent some time online researching the issue, following many troubleshooting steps, nothing worked. I called AT&T Technical support as well as Apple and nothing worked. I ended up driving 2 hours to the nearest Apple store where the Genious Desk Technician did all of the troubleshooting steps I had already completed, to no avail. Apple ended up replacing my Iphone for free. The tech told me he believed the built-in antenna had been damaged. When I asked why the internet, voicemail, and email still worked, he said there were actually 3 different antennas in the phone. The replacement phone has been working great. My wife has one problem with it, she says I spend too much time reading the news when shes driving I would definitely recommend the Iphone!
  9. My wife and I always pay ALOT in and get little to nothing back. If the stimulus check we received last year will be deducted from what we get this year, we may owe them something Im still waiting on the paper that tells us how much interest we paid on our mortgage before filing. Were kind of in the same boat as Truck Guy, we will be able to pay our car off this year, and then we will just have a mortgage left to pay. Can't wait to get the mortgage paid off, that will be a huge weight off my shoulders Josh http://Http://www.BohannonBattery.com
  10. Just be careful not to short anything out if using cables with big clamps. I always attach the positive cable to both vehicles first. That way if you do accidentally touch the frame with the negative cable, you don't have to worry about sparks flying. I have seen a few vehicles with melted headlights, melted battery top, etc. No idea how they do that Joshua http://Http://www.BohannonBattery.com
  11. I wish I had read this post sooner! My name is Joshua Bohannon with Bohannon Battery in Palatka Florida. I sell the PC680 for $120 including shipping, missed opportunity for me. The Odyssey batteries are definitely the way to go. Built to military grade specifications, they are much more durable, withstanding heat and vibration much better than the chinese made batteries. If anyone is interested here is a link to my site with pricing on odyssey batteries: http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/odyssey.html There is also another brand of battery I consider comparable to Odyssey which is the Deka, manufactured by East Penn. It is an American made battery just like the Odyssey. Much higher quality with the American made products! The Direct replacement Deka battery is the ETX20L, found here: http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/deka.html The Odyssey's and Deka's are both AGM, Absorbed Glass Matt Batteries. I always recommend them if they fit the application. I would like to point out one problem that could persist. Regardless of whether the old battery was failing, the voltage should stay around 14 Volts with the motorcycle running and all accessories on. In some rare cases a bad battery can cause what I call a false reading, but these are few and far. With the new battery installed, did you re-check the output voltage with all ACC on? Its possible you may have a charging issue with all ACC on. Joshua Bohannon http://Http://www.BohannonBattery.com "For All Your Battery Needs!"
  12. I was just surfing around the internet and found this thread. Thanks for mentioning us skydoc. The prices have come up since May due to increase in the price of lead, but we still have plenty of PC680's in stock, and we always ship the same day an order is received, unless the order is placed after 4:00PM. Thanks again! Joshua Bohannon http://Http://www.BohannonBattery.com "For All Your Battery Needs!"
