  1. I'm going to have to dig out the papers we did from when you did the carbs on my bike.. Thanks again for the very detailed and comprehensive what and the 'why' the what does. Makes more sense to me now.
  2. LOL thanks Earl.. give the missus a hug from both of us.. We'll give you a shout when we're down your way again next summer (doing the ridge ride in May).. We have a hankering for Ribs like you wouldn't believe.. =) Cheers M8
  3. Well since it's near approaching winter around here, we haven't had much opportunity to test out what was wrong with my buddy's bike.. but tomorrow is a foretasted nice enough day that we're going out for a spin, only to say we rode in December heehe Unfortunately, the SAME problem happened to his bike when he went to start it.,. simply would not start no matter what he tried.. it would chug weakly but no sooner you touch the throttle that it would die.. On a whim, buddy took his side cover off and gave the fuel pump a tap tap with a wooden mallet and all of a sudden the pump started clicking as it would when you turn the ignition key on, and the bike started fine and dandy.. So, this seems like the pump is intermittent and most likely on it's last leg. AND under warranty.. Anyone ever experience anything like this?
  4. That should read "AND replace the fuel filter"
  5. Nice photo, ever thought of RESIXING a 5000x5000 pixel photo down to a useable 800X600 instead? lol I know them horses are HUGE but dood!! lol
  6. More open air filters and pipes will give you a slight boost.. and drop your fuel mileage a bit as well.. Remember, this is a nice touring bike, not a sports bike.. though it's fun to blast the sports bike off the highway once in a while
  7. I used to wear a yellow Joe Rocket jacket.. I prefer a good leather jacket to be honest, I seldom ever wear the Joe Rocket..
  8. I bought an 06 Midnight in 2008, I am the third owner.. My bike was an abused bike.. What I could recommend is go ahead and change out all your filters and all your fluids. When in doubt, DO IT! The valves are more involved and expensive to do but for most cases, if your bike follows the norms they shouldn't be too far out.. Changing your fluids and filters on spec will allow you to have that peace of mind of knowing where your status is (all new and all clean). You will learn how to do the task and be more willing to do it again when the time calls for it.. I wish I had when I bought my used bike, it might have saved me some problems later on.. But ya learn as ya go..
  9. Thanks M8...
  10. Hi guys, winter project time.. The 4 way flashers on our RSV require the bike to turned on (ignition ON) which means you'd have to leave the bike running or risk the battery draining since the headlight is left on with the key turned to ON.. I've searched around for alternatives to this set up, but nothing concrete comes up.. Could it be as simple as moving one or two wires from the ignition side of a circuit over to an AUX side of the circuit? I'm not electrically inclined (I get zapped a lot) so I'm not sure how that would work.. Anyone have any info on how one could have the 4 way flashers (hazard lights) come on with the bike on Aux power? If the signal lights were LED, then they would be easy on battery power consumption, no? Thanks in advance..
  11. I was very surprised when visiting Goose in Texas late May, someone there told me that "most" people don't pull their bikes out until June and put them away in Sept.. in TEXAS? Egads.. We left Nova Scotia early mid May where there was ICE on the lakes, and 4 days of hard riding we ended up in 90 to 100'F weather in Florida.. then Texas.. wow.. Snowing the big puffy thick snow flakes tonight.. I took the bike out around the block in the snow "just because I can!" Those LED lights REALLY lit up them snow flakes hehe
  12. yep they look GREAT in the snow too.. lol Riding season came to an end this weekend with below freezing weather and heavy snow / rain / winds.. ergh.. Hopefully a warm spell will pop up enough to sneak a ride in
  13. yes, what you said but in English.. I had one of those too but the wheels fell off..
  14. Thanks Randy, I'll have a check to see if I can find one and try it out.. Cheers
  15. As mentioned earlier by many these LED lights do emit an interference into the radios which I don't notice as I use MP3 players etc.. However, it will bother others very much.. I did some searching online about this and came across all kinds of links about the problem in boats, homes and cars of all things.. I don't have the memory to remember all what and why it does the interference but it's something to do about how quickly the lights switch on and off while they are on.. the LED switch rapidly on / off to work properly, something around the 60 mHz something like that.. (and I can't find the reference link again.. grr).. Anyway, short version is that the biggest recommendation is to install a "FERRITE CHOKE" onto the lead wire (positive) to clean up the signal.. such as this one http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103222 Its worked for some applications and did squat for others.. Of course these are no where available in my geographical area so I can't try them out.. So that's what I found out so far.. Anyone know about these or what it does, would it work etc? I'd rather stay with the WHITE LED than yellowish H7616 to be honest but sooner or later, that lack of radio reception will bite me.. ergh
  16. Stock bulbs are basically useless for lighting the road and don't add to the blob of light effect to oncoming traffic.. however these LEDs should.. I hope to get out this evening when it gets dark.. I'll let you know.. hopefully my buddy with his HID and OEM bulbs will be available to compare..
  17. Humph.. saw rain and SNOW today.. grr.. patiently waiting for global warming to really kick in..
  18. I have one in my bike and meh, no I can't tell the difference.. Mind you it was the cheaper alternative than buying a new OEM ignition module.. I kept the RPMs limiter down to the normal range..
  19. I'm curious to see what these do with the HID headlight since this one light really puts out a spread of light across the road.. Shame its almost the very bitter end of the ride season =(
  20. I don't have the CB antenna on my bike so I can't test it right now.. these lights have a flood pattern and not a spot (beam?) pattern as shown in the original photos.. few more days of rain to go through before I can test ride them.. if it doesn't snow first lol
  21. Them's the ones, I couldn't find my link to it.. I don't notice radio interference on FM but I can hear it on the AUX with nothing playing.. just a slight hiss.. the 4W lower bulbs put out more hiss on my bike, and I have the hidden antenna under the hood as well.. I tend to play tunes from my ZUMO than radio so it wasn't apparent until someone mentioned it and I went out to test it.. Can anything be done to eliminate that hiss from the LEDs?
  22. 100 miles?? Where'd ya go? For a morning coffee? Get out there and really ride that bike
  23. Hi Earl.. don't go too far with this project eh? I'm salivating already but promised myself I wouldn't do any engine mods to THIS bike.. My 2005 VStar went through the big bore high compression kit and it required dual valve springs to take the extra power tossed into it and to increase the RPM lest you start floating the valves.. If I remember correctly the VStar was rev limiting around 6800 but with the springs in, and DYNA3000 set properly you could rev limit it to 7200 or so "safely".. I would suspect the RSV is going to be doing the same thing but may well require additional cooling.. So this big comfy enjoyable touring bike is soon going to become the wild 'hair on fire' road burner, is it? (uncontrolled salivation)
  24. Here's what it looks like after both installed.. The red lens flare is from the LED onto the digital sensor on the camera.. The link to the lights.. ? Aww c'mon.. let me be the first kid on the block with them for a day or two OK? lol.. $40 each online.. I'll post the link once I find it again as my buddy wants them too.. There is a glitch with one of them which I hope the company will be doing the right thing and replacing them.. If it stops raining tonight I'm going to have to do a little testing in the dark..
