Sometimes I think the reason we are retired is because we need the time to rest up after an opps, and,, maybe oppses get to be more frequent, so they become more of a way of life rather than the odd interruption. Gotta take that into account as you plan your day, what shoes to wear, do I need a coat, is my underwear clean, (mom always said that) have I got clean socks (not that you need to wear them) did I comb my hair (not that in some cases it matters a lot anymore) where do I have to go today (not that you'll get there mind you, could be tomorrow instead) anybody coming over today? You know, it's good to plan your day before you start on it, especially supper, and when you get supper planned out it is best to get started on it, before you forget what you planned, and when you get that far, you'd better sit down to eat it, before it becomes a midnight snack. See,,,,,, all the planning and you didn't have to worry about the mail,,,, another day in safety. Prayers up for you bud, and go to see some one who knows about falling injuries, a massage therapist would be a good start.

Prayer Request
Marcarl replied to Freebird's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Definitely will add him to our prayer list, but it would be much more helpful for him if he asked himself as well. Our Savior listens to us and replies in many different ways, but His main focus is that we see Him as the Great Physician. So He is looking for that personal response from each of us, if we do, then heaven is ready for us and so is He. -
Now look CanAm what you started, guess maybe we'll see lower prices soon with all the competition,,, maybe.

We'll see what we can do yo help you out Fool,,, best thing is maybe to ask the Great Shepherd for His support,, maybe it will be beneficial for both you and Puc.

Carb synch problem
Marcarl replied to mralex714's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sounds to me that you need to start from scratch. Start with #2 cylinder, which is the one that your throttle cable is hooked to and make sure the butterfly closes all the way. You'll have to look down into the carb and move the slider to see this. It will only close with adjustment from the idle screw, and if the other carbs are not holding it open. Once you have it closed properly, then do the others. When that is complete, adjust the idle screw so it will run on it's own and then do a sync. The idle screw is a thumb nut, located between the two carbs, left side of bank, under the joining bar. You can't see it unless you look from the bottom up, but you can feel it and it usually takes two fingers to turn it, one from the one hand and one from the other. -

Our condolences to you and yours. There will be a time of mourning and celebration, and then there will be times that memories come back to you. Sometimes even a smell or a taste of something will remind you of times past. I bet she raised you to move through life with wisdom for the future, so live the present, look forward to the future and enjoy the past.

radio Problem - help !!!
Marcarl replied to bikerjohn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There is a connector in the faring that tends to come undone, or not connect. Don't know exactly which one, but if you go in there, you should clean them all for the time it takes. -
Thought you had a friend eh??? You guys could have raised a stink together!!!

His weave \wobble started at about 28, just as he was passing the other bike, then he increased speed to pass the car on the right and lost it. That bike was not all that stable from the start. It was wiggling the whole time, and he didn't pay attention to it. I suppose we are assuming that everything was perfect on that scoot, that could be an error on our part. There could have been loose steering head, swing arm issues, worn tires, bad shocks,,, lots of stuff that could contribute to this.

How to remove Needle Jet from carb
Marcarl replied to Sylvester's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sometimes they can be tight, and being brass they could snap off. I have a Dewalt impact-driver and would be tempted to try it. Would have to have a bit that fit decently tight though I think. -
As an afterthought, nothing to do with the afterparts mind you, just thinking,,,, everybody has different shapes and sizes, and one size does not fit all. Best to do trial and error. Try it the way it is, be critical, comment on the comforts or non-comforts and adjust a bit,,, move the trunk, cut the seat back, cut the pan down all in sequence, not all at the same time.

My wife rode on the back of our 85, and loved it, and you are smaller than her. I did move the seat back with a couple of flat bar extensions, about 1.5", and I had to cut the back of the rise of the seat to accommodate the parts that were interfering with the rise. I also had to cut the back of the seat pan down a bit, because it started biting her underparts when seated. But in the end, she loved it. The only improvement was that later on, about 6 years, we bought a Spyder, and now she likes that better, only because I'm the rider, otherwise it is still the 85 for her.

No need to remove the crown nuts. But you will have to loosen the top nut. The assembly is: bearing, washer, crown nut, rubber o-ring, crown nut, nut alignment clip, washer, top of triple tree, torque nut on top. Or something like that. Point being that there is a rubber o-ring between the crown nuts so you can't torque them together, so once you take the pressure off of the assembly with the master nut on top, the crown nuts will rotate together. You only need a screwdriver and a small hammer to do that, although a special tool is available. Problem with the special tool is that it won't grab the nuts where there is a joining sleeve, so that becomes a pain and you will get the screwdriver in the end anyways. Now if you take it all apart and re-assemble it piece by piece, then the tool becomes a handy addition.

Or , ahhh I didn't mean it so harsh,,, it's all good!! Or the news anchor introducing a video and giving the story as an introduction.

Rear suspension will come apart without worrying about the shock top mount. You should add grease sirks when you take it apart. The bottom bolt for the shock will most likely show wear from what you discribed, and it's not available, so remove it and get a new one made. If the pivots have play, they will need to fixed or the rear wheel will want to wander. You'll need to take it apart to discover the issue, whether it's the bushings or pins, That business can get rusty in there without grease. If I remember correctly the horn is always live, and when you press the switch it completes the circuit by completing the ground part.

The work is the fun, but if you plan to make money on it, or break even, then you are dreaming. Just did total brakes, lines, masters, calipers, and tires and rear wheel bearings and valve covers, and rear clutch spline on an 85. Cost was well over $1000 just for parts. That didn't include swing arm, steering head, forks, carbs, front wheel bearings, fuse box, air filter, oil change.

My riding season.....as well as mu hunting season, are over.
Marcarl replied to ReinyRooster's topic in Watering Hole
Good to hear you made it through. If you need somebody to keep your scoot lubed up, just post it, and we'll see about the costs,,, wouldn't be much I bet. Gonna take a while to get the strength back, so be patient, and do as your told. Where was it that you live??? might be around to visit if I'm in the area.
