Help needed if possible for a Garmin Nuvi 2555 route planning
Marcarl replied to dogman's topic in Watering Hole
I use Mapsource, works fine for me and I don't have to deal with google. Want a copy? -
I just passed 35,,,, oooorrrr, maybe it was 40,, either way I'm still around and have a scoot to boot. When I get old I'll grow gray hair like the rest of you guys, maybe I'll even let my stomach stick out a bit, and I'll get me some of those denture things. After that I'll see how I can ramble on about nothing, and then say a few words that confuse everybody, so that they can say I made an awesome speech, 'cause they don't want to admit that they never understood a word,, just in-case something important did slip out.

Another item to consider, and a lot of folks don't, is what is legal. A half ton beefed up may do a better job of towing than a reg 3\4 ton might, although the 3\4 ton may be listed as a heavy tow capacity. That's not how the hy-way cops decipher it though. They go by the book and if you don't have proper and inspected documentation on the beefed up half ton, it just isn't there,,,, kind of like on here,, if there are no pictures, it really didn't happen, type thing.

Life changes, nothing we can really do about it, it just happens and happens. Just seems kind of odd that back in 2006 when I joined this group numbers were constantly on the rise, members, gatherings, etc. But as time moved on numbers started to diminish. In 06 at our 1st M&G I think we had about 50 people, this year less than 1\2 that. Slowly the numbers got less, slowly people have been getting older,,,(why didn't somebody tell me), slowly more interests have entered our personal forums, sometimes our health and wel being have taken the forefront, and maybe something we haven't thought about yet: the world is moving fast and we really don't want to get left behind, so our interests are tweaked elsewhere, a little and and a bit there,,,,,and,,,, seeing as we can still only do one thing at a time some things tend to get a lower score on the totem pole of planning and desire. I see new members come on this site regularly, don't know the numbers exactly, but there are new names popping up now and then, but mostly they are looking for advice and seem to have little need to get further involved, that's OK, they have full lives of other interests. Times may change again, they may and they may not. One thing or sure, we have a good thing going here that presents a message to the rest of the population: Want some help, WE CAN!

Shifting problems?
Marcarl replied to BillH's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I'm not sure if your bike is like the 1st gen Ventures. On them there is a shaft going back from the the shift pedal. I let my nephew ride my bike once and after that it was hard to shift. Guy has size 13 boots and feet and legs to match. He bent the shaft. -
Must be the new rotary kitchen knife. It cuts circles around anything else.

I think that would be after he jumped.

SOOOOOo now that total boredom has set in: A man was on a roof, he jumped off,,,, where was he when he jumped?

Puc!! you gonna have to swim this one on your own. The boss has already seen it and I'm quite sure there will be a major discussion coming up on the merits or non-merits of having you continue in your postings. It may not be out of the question to have you limited to just so many posts per day, or even how many words can be used in any relevant posts. The type of words might be more of an issue though, so if I were you, and you wanted to continue to be a then it might be well advised to stay away from name invoking and what might be called weather predictions.... at least for now.

I should have done a google search before I chose my avatar, but google wasn't available back then. I was dating a girl named Marca back when I was 18 or so, I dated lots of then opposite sex types and enjoyed them all I think, but this one became something special. While sitting at lunch one day, all by myself and being bored I wrote her name on the leg of my jeans, and then just naturally added rl. Now I realize that her name came first and then mine, but it didn't matter none, we matched, we married (her fault) and we had kids (her fault as well)but I had some input) and we are still living in the same house, sleep in the same bed and go places together. It was a match, and still is. So MarCarl has stuck! Known her for 48 years, married 46 years.

Dumping Coolant
Marcarl replied to philtrex's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
First make sure you didn't overfill the coolant bottle, or it will dump when hot. If the bottle is less than 1\2 then there is a possibility that you have a blown head gasket. Check for oil in the coolant, it will be floating on top. Check for air in the coolant, it will bubble up while running. Check for coolant in the oil, it will show up as a foamy substance. If none of the above issue are present, then I would suggest you go for another run and see if it's still happening or continues to happen. No need to fill the coolant, please don't, just ride to get it warm and see what happens. If the condition is no longer present, it's a good chance you overfilled it. -
'microaggression' - Soon you won't be able to say anything to anyone.
Marcarl replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
Guess we had better not call ourselves VentureRiders anymore,,, I mean, what would that do to the rest of the population,,,, that don't have the resources, training, desire to ride a Venture,,,, those poor folks would be left thinking that they somehow missed out on something,,,,,, wouldn't think of it, I wouldn't,,,,,NOT! -
Another electrical issue
Marcarl replied to Mcolabella's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sounds like something is working. Try disconnecting the fuses as you listen to discover which circuit is causing the issue. -
Tuning the progressive springs.
Marcarl replied to Flyinfool's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I had my 85 I did a no pre-load, nothing! worked fantastic. I also Fooled around with some, and a lot of pre-load, liked neither,,, the fooled, the lot or the some. And I'm glad Puc stopped when he did, but I do feel a bit of being outside the club type thing. -
Know what you mean, it used to be that it took a whole steak to satisfy me, now I can do 3 meals with one,,, go figure!
