  1. Warm up the engine, doesn't want to be hot, just warmed is good. Take out all plugs. Screw in the tester. Open throttle and spin engine for a full reading. Do this again and then move onto the next cylinder. Mark down your readings, 1st and second. Compare readings. If there is a low cylinder, check it again, and if it's still low insert a squirt of oil and check again. If it comes up on the reading you have a ring issue, if it stays the same the rings checked out good.
  2. Back then: We recycled our milk containers Bread bags were waxed paper and used for lunches We didn't have garbage pick up, it was burned in the barrel, only the town folks had that happen and we couldn't really understand why Meat came wrapped in brown paper Glass bottles went back to get refilled Butter came in 'paper' wrappers as well as margarine Buddy came round once a year to collect any left over metals, and gave a new ball point pen for an extra plow share If a car was rusty, it was known to be well used and stayed that way If the neighbor needed help, that was more important than anything, even church, and that was ultra important. We drove fast cars, sometimes even more than 60mph. Those were souped up and you had to be careful and a good driver. We spent half the summer putting up hay, and the other half was used putting in grain and straw. Summers lasted a lot longer then. If buddy's car broke down 50 miles from home we towed it with rope and chain back to where it belonged and fixed it ourselves. An old car didn't have rocker panels, it started most of the time, ran on used oil, had bald tires, a cracked windshield, rust on the roof and missed a muffler. Mom kept worn out jeans and when she had enough left over material, made a new one, or patched another one. New rubber boats before winter, and then were cut down for shoes the following spring.
  3. Yah I read that, and then read it again, and then considered the fact that Mr Freebird is getting on in years and might have us mixed, for I could not for the life of me think that he would even start to think such thoughts about me. I even asked around and still came up with the same conclusion, so I figured it had to be you he was referring to. It actually kind of saddens me really, but things being the way they are and we not having seen each other for some time,,,,, well you know!!, come to think of it, Freebird hasn't seen you for a much longer time,,, so where would he get such ideas,,,, now I'm befudeled.
  4. Ahhh you couldn't hijack this thread, it's all about bikes and an old one at that,, being even a little bit Irish would not interrupt that kind of conversation.
  5. I think something has been lost in the translation. Are you saying it does not fit?
  6. You got Dutch blood in ya somewhere.?.? What a great idea.:happy65:buuuuut that brings up one problem,,,, we'll be missing out on a party and food!!! Best maybe you delete your post and keep those thoughts to yourself maybe.
  7. I would try to let it run in the garage with a fan feeding fresh air on the RR and see if it heats up.
  8. Don't worry soo much Mr. Freebird,,, Saddlebum is quite harmless, he's old enough now that it takes him quite some time to decide on what it was that he had decide on,,, but don't worry about that too much either, he'll eventually talk his way out of it,, or into it.
  9. Seems like it might work out then I'll see if I can get @saddlebum to have a chat with her That'll keep her busy for at least half hour.
  10. Nice ride!!! Now what's the chances that I can take up your offer of a test ride this year and does it come with a good lookin passenger?
  11. Made it, even with Marca along. Got to see some good friends, but somehow missed out on some of the GoodByes,,, oh well, saves time next round, we won't have to spend much time on the hello's. Great place to hang out
  12. Might even make it yet
  13. I know, I know, there is a lot of stuff on those shelves, always looking for something new and different, but this stuff is fresh, well kind of fresh meaning less than 12 months. Now paint is another story, I've been trying to get my paint down to a usable level and was doing pretty good and then I ran out of white,,, well now!! do you have any idea that white is not necessarily white and to get to the right one kind of loads up the shelve again??? My kids will have a hayday when they get to divide the spoils.
  14. I know that it may seem counter productive, but what I would do is to go to the area where you stick your screwdriver and pull on the wires. If they are good then they will stay put, but if there is a bad one, you might find it easily.
  15. Presently I have a case of Brake Cleaner sitting on my shelve, come from CarQuest and bites the fingers, ring or no ring,,, doesn't say where it is made or who makes it.
  16. JMT I will not say that it is easy or fun to lay a person to rest, I have done that a number of times and have some experience, albeit not the experience that anyone else has for their loved ones, as every time and for everybody this is different, maybe VERY different. One thing though, as we proceed though the mourning stage of life we tend to focus on the loss we have sustained, how a person has been taken away and will no longer be a part of our life, in a way it has little to do with feeling bad for the deceased, but more the feeling for oneself. That is natural, very natural, and is part of the mourning process, and to some extent at least, needs to be done. The alternative to this, is to look at the person life and your own life and realize just how good it was to have this person be part of your journey on this earth. How did the life of this person bless you, guide you, make you happy, help look after you, teach you,,,,,,,,. What benefits did you and others receive because this person had been part of your life and most important, did this person help you find the ultimate destination of life? Blessing Scott and Tip as you go through the next few days
  17. I have a 36mm socket and am guessing that;s what I use it for.

  19. I have an 08 Dodge Ram, 1500, 5.7L 4WD. Love it, mostly just for the way it handles. Repairs are normal, no real issues at all. Been a good truck, 260km so far, just getting a little rust around the wheel wells, but that is easily overcome if undercoated right. Most guys looking at it guess it to be much newer, it was well looked after with undercoating before I got it.
  20. Just to add to this. Puc is right on, thanks Puc. Yes there is good and evil, there always has been and will continue to be until the end of the age as we know it today. Can we do anything about it? We can help here and there, but set it all straight? Not likely!! The world has been going to hell in a handbasket ever since the fall of man. We think that today society has gone or is going for a real poop,, well think again. Read the history books, see what some other nations and tribes are still doing,, and yes! it is getting worse, but the history ain't so pretty either. The best we can do is to educate our fellow humans in the fact that there is a light at the end of this tunnel and that after this life, a life of peace and perfection is available,, all because the Son of the Creator decided that we were worth dying for. We can try to legislate peace, but it won't happen, we can try to force peace and we will fail, but each of us can love our fellows and be a winner, and the best love we can show is to tell the truth: there is a way to peace and happiness and security, but only One way.
  21. Praying that somehow you will be able to help walk his road.
  22. Thanks for the update Puc, keep us posted plz
  23. Just my thoughts here, not much to back them up though. Back in time the Hebrews commanded to bury their dead as apposed to some other religions that burned their deceased. Yaweh had chosen a people to be His own, separate from other nations around them. Read the attached article, it's very informative, even some interesting declarations on cremation. My thoughts have always been, if we are buried 'intact' then when it comes time to rise again we will be 'available' so to speak. To those who don't believe in the resurrection, this is a challenge and so to overcome this they cremate so that their ashes can be spread far and wide and so they believe that they cannot be put back together, and so spoil the resurrection. Of course in today world that might not hold to a lot of thinking anymore, folks today just think it's cleaner and better for the environment to cremate, although there is much thought that might not be a complete truth, and maybe just an outright lie. Nowhere is there any instruction in the Scriptures that indicate to burn ones body at any time, so that was left to the nations that didn't worship the Creator. https://www.aish.com/sp/ph/Cremation_or_Burial_A_Jewish_View.html
  24. And oH ya,,, if you need info on where to get things, what to use and how to make a mess of your garage floor,,, just ask,, we make wonderful companions.
