Are you a tall guy? The reason I ask is that I have the Utopia back rest and I had to remove it the day I installed it. I am 6'5 and the backrest pushed me forward a little. On the first turn I made after they were installed I nearly wrecked when the end of the handle bar hit my knee. I've purchased some risers and I may try it again but it still may not work. The backrest also comes with instructions on how to install by cutting thru the back seat but I refuse to cut the leather seat up.

Holy crap. If I hear one more story about loud pipes saving lives I'm going to puke. Loud pipes are obnoxious and usually illegal. If someone can show me a legitimate study supporting this loud pipe crap then I'll apologize and shut up. Ain't gonna happen though. Before anyone gets fired up I am not anti Harley. I have friends who own Harleys and I ride with them all the time. I used to have a neighbor who had a Harlery and his pipes were so obnoxious that they woke everyone up when he left early AM or came in late at night. He moved away and peace was restored and everything was right with the world.

I went back and reread what I wrote and it wasn't very clear was it? What I was trying to say is that many of the fatalities were helmetless riders. Helmets are the law here in Va but you'd be surprised how many go without when they are just "testing" some one else's bike or just out for a short spin in the neighborhood. I really believe these laws are in place to protect the stupid and not necessarily the law abiding people such as us. Some people (squids) need to be told how to protect themselves.

Trust me. I'm not calling you guys dumb. Just think the idea of no helmet while riding on public roads is dumb. I've been to probably 250 MC accidents as a cop in my 29 years. I don't have the stats with me but all of the fatalities involving MC were riders with no helmet on. A good portion of those wearing a helmet lived to tell the story although plenty died as well. A human body can take one heck of a lot of abuse except for the head. It's not designed to hit the ground, tree, guardrail or side of a car with no protection.

As this is a hot topic I'll limit my comments and say it's dumb to ride without a helmet on the noggin.

Let me know when you know the dates you can ride. I work some weird hours and days but I'll see about taking a day off. Just need a little notice.
-
Let me know when you are here. I'm 20 minutes from Reston. You'll have to head west away from Reston toward Front Royal for the best riding. There are several options once you get away from the hustle of NoVa.

Don, You decide on a number somewhere between 1 and 5000. We all get one guess and when the deadline approaches the one closest wins.

Great news JT, all things considered.

Laws vary state by state but often you can legally listen to music with a head set in one ear but not two. Check wwwFindLaw.com and you should be able to check with your states laws.

would you buy a RSV again?

Good luck with that and be persistent. Let us know how it goes. -

It should be obvious from reading this site that this is far from the norm. Sounds like you have the lemon and should probably have this addressed by Yamaha. -
JT, Prayers on the way. Please keep us posted.

I used a revolver from 79-85 in my job and that reload is amazing. I was using speed loaders by the time we transitioned to semi autos and I thought I was fast with a reloader. phhfftt.
-
If I recall correctly didn't mythbusters have him on a segment?
-
There's no doubt this guy is fast but I'd like to see his guns to see what trigger modifications he's made. I can't believe he can shoot this fast with a typical stock revolver trigger. If he is then that makes this even more incredible.

In my humble opinion it should be another topic. We were answering the question and showing how many of us are LE. That post was not needed. Just my .02

In my book you are. We used to have one correction facility around here that was owned by the DC Govt. We locked up as many correctional officers from there as we did regular bad guys. They shut down eventually. Most CO's though are good honest people and more often than not get breaks. Of course I also give breaks to ER docs and nurses who may one day have to put a catheter in me.

This has been around since 1986. Check Snopes. The locality where this is supposed to have happened has a paper and they say they never heard of it and never ran the story. In my 29 years I've seen many people call in false info to get us there quicker and more often then not someone went to jail for falsely summoning the police. One business owner was upset that someone was parked in the firelane blocking his front door. He called in a fight in progress with one person holding a gun. We of course expedited only to discover the truth. He couldn't believe when the nice shiny bracelet was placed on his wrists.
