  1. You are probably correct on the piston seal pulling the piston back. I'm not sure exactly how it all works but the fluid that pushes the piston out has to go somewhere for the piston to return to its resting place and the fluid returns to the MC when the MC piston is pulled back.
  2. The flexible brake lines on autos anyway sometimes go bad in that the inside lining of the brake line collapses when the brake pedal/lever is released so that when the MC piston is pulled back by its spring pulling a slight vacuum on the brake line the line collapses instead of the vacuum pulling the caliper piston back. This could be your problem. Don't know.
  3. Looks like rear rotors are available on ebay for around $50. Quality would be anyone's guess.

    Wish list

I owned a 56 Chevy Convertible when I was a teenager, then a 59 Chevy Impala 2drhdtp, 65Chevelle with 300hp 327 4 speed posi, 69SS396Chevelle 4 speed, 70 Mustang Fastback, and many other interesting, unique cars of that era. I really enjoyed those cars. But, todays cars are so superior in every way (hp, handling, braking, fuel economy, comfort) that I don't have the desire to own one of those again. I'm not a collector. I use and abuse everything I own.
  5. Reminds me of this know-it-all engineer I worked with in FL. He towed a uhaul back to IN and he was bad mouthing uhaul because he couldn't drive over 55 mph without the trailer wagging. I told him it was his fault for not putting enough weight in the front of the trailer and that uhaul trailers were very stable. Of course his ego wouldn't allow him to admit it was his fault.

    Bikeless

Well Tooch, thanks for the review. It always helps to get ride reviews of potential bikes. If you rode it more than any other in one season, that says something about it. Sounds like you might prefer a Gen II Venture!

Didn't you buy a new Tenure? Would you care to share your reasons for selling it?
  8. Now, what would bother us is that if you quit posting!

    Onward and Upward!
  10. It probably doesn't need new pistons, just seals. I'm assuming the pistons are metal. Most autos now have plastic caliper pistons that aren't the best choice. I would replace the pistons if they are plastic. It most likely leaked because the piston was pushed out so far with all of the pad worn out. No springs or parts to fly and hide when you disassemble it as far as I know. I have rebuilt auto calipers but not bike calipers.
  11. That was exciting to watch!
  12. You certainly put a lot of yourself into Big Red. It's a shame you are letting him go. But, if you are giving up riding after your accident, I can for sure understand.
  13. Hang tough. I have an idea what you may be feeling like now and it ain't so good.
  14. The stories of how we won WWII are the most amazing stories I've ever read. The heroism of the Navy in the Pacific theater is almost unbelievable it's so incredible. The Japanese Navy outnumbered the US Navy by multiples in every category and they lost. I've learned a lot by watching the history channel on tv.
  15. When I had my hernia surgery, they waited as they do until just before the surgery to bring in all the papers for me to sign and then rushed me to sign them saying they had scheduled the operating room for a immediate use. I read the papers in spite of their rushing and marked through the part that said that a doctor other than the one I had scheduled it with could do the surgery. It bothers me the way they do that. They want you to sign the papers without reading them because of legal issues. Part of the papers appeared to absolve them of the responsibility if they make a mistake.
  16. If you do any honing such as polishing the cylinders with fine sandpaper do it circumferentially to prevent leaks.
  17. Good Luck to you on the surgery! I had an inguinal hernia repair about 10 years ago. It was a big one and I didn't want it repaired orthoscopically after some of the things I read at that time and talking to a coworker whose repair had failed. Anyhow, it wasn't fun for sure and took about a year to get to the point I could do situps without a stinging in that area. I had worn a support belt for several years and the tear just got bigger. So, I don't recommend putting it off.
  18. As I understand it, Kaspersky is a Russian program if that means anything?????
  19. I lived in Homestead FL south of Miami for over 3 1/2 yrs and as far south as you can live without going to the Keys. I remember many mornings riding to work in 40 degree weather. Winter lasted a couple of weeks there.
  20. In the Yamaha video, I think the guy recommended 2 1/2 turns out on the mixture screws as a starting point. Turning in leans and turning out richens. My stupid bike is set on 1 turn out???? It was set like that when I bought it. It ran decent like that for a while but not now. I'm pretty sure I have dirty ignition contacts. I clipped 3/4" on one spark plug wire and rescrewed it into the plug cap and that cylinder exhaust is much hotter than the other 3. I got busy with other stuff and it has been sitting for quite a while. One of these days...... But you have to get it running right before balancing. I would set them all the same until I got it running right and then balance and adjust the mixture screws like the video instructs.
  21. Best of Luck to Yah, Puc! We all love you!
  22. Is that Suburban carbureted? My 86 Monte Carlo had a computer controlled quadrajet. Those things had a tendency to leak gas through the body of the carb filling the intake. this excess fuel would wash the oil off the cylinders and kill the engine. If it is carbed and it starts cold like it's hot you may have the problem.
  23. Wow! You have a knack for knowing exactly where to park it!
