  1. AND, you repaired the second gear issue didn't you?!!!!!
  2. It's like Fred Sanford used to say, "I'm going to be a dirty old man until I'm a dead old man.". Actually, I think most women of all ages like being told that they are beautiful. When you are young, there are pretty girls and not so pretty girls. But when you get old, they are all beautiful!!!!
  3. Yep, when you flirt with some pretty young lady and she thinks you are being cute (and harmless), you know you are over the hill.
  4. I don't think I could fold my legs up enough to ride that one. Looks like fun though.
  5. If you are not already exercising, I'd highly recommend getting on an exercise program. It's the best medicine of all.
  6. Congratulations!! There will still be plenty of work to do around the homestead I'm sure.
  7. My wife likes to eat at Panera Bread. They have kiosks but you don't have to use them and most people don't. She used it one time and it took a loooonnng time to figure out the order. And you still have to go to the counter to complete the order. Doesn't seem to work out well there.
  8. If you go to partzilla.com or boats.net (same company) you will find parts fische and be able to order most of the OE parts you need. I don't have a good opinion of K&N filters because every article I've read that compared them to regular paper filters, they don't filter as well.
  9. Saw on the news that Syracuse NY had 20" and it was still coming down. I worked at the Nine Mile Nuclear Plant not far from Syracuse and that lake effect snow fell about 4 times a week during the winter I worked there it seemed.
  10. 1999 thru 2013 are the second generation. No major changes during the run. First gen is 83 thru 93. I don't have a second gen but from reading the forum, I understand that the rear shock failure is one thing to look for. First gen shocks last longer. Also the fuel pumps tend to fail more often than on the first gen. Usually, it seems to be the points. But, it is a very reliable bike. The first gen uses regular fuel so I suspect the second gen does also.
  11. Great reliable bikes. Some have a loud clutch whine so you want to hear it on the road before buying. If it hasn't been ridden much the carbs may need cleaning. Balancing is no big deal.
  12. I didn't realize that you could get an E3 dual compound front tire. The information I've seen says that dual compound is only available on the rear.
  13. One of those infrared temp sensors is a great tool to have and they are not that expensive. It could warn you of a problem if you find one exhaust pipe is hot but not as hot as the others.
  14. Having collision insurance, then Big Red will probably be totalled won't it? It won't take a lot of repairing to equal the book value of an 83? Anyway, that's not that much to worry about. The first thing will be to get you healed.
  15. In that kind of situation, a driverless car would be a great thing! Uber may be the next best. I know you are relieved that you didn't have to force it on him!
  16. If I remember correctly, that front tire was a Bridgestone Battlax BT021. I'm sure a lot depends on how much difference there is in the hardness of the two rubber compounds. This particular tire is a high performance tire and probably had a really soft compound on the sides of the tread. A dual compound tire may be ideal for the rear, but I don't think I would buy one for the front.
  17. The tire was on the front of a 2004 Kawasaki Concours when I bought it and the edges were worn leaving a 1" wide strip of rubber down the middle. It was a sport tourer bike and may have been ridden like a sport bike. The narrow strip on the front contributed to the tippiness of the bike. The old concours may be the hardest to ride at low speed of any bike due to the high cog (7.5 gallon tank mounted up top) and that tire made it much worse. New tires made a huge difference in how hard it was to control at low speed. Those are very reliable, fun bikes to ride. I dropped it on my foot breaking a bone and after getting blood clots in my lower leg my wife wanted me to sell it and I eventually did.
  18. lower right side. Located where you ain't going to turn it while riding or at least I can't.
  19. Did you turn on the fuel valve? Dumb question, I know but it's happened to me.
  20. Surely glad you weren't hurt any worse. It does remind me of what NC State basketball coach Jim Valvano said one time. He had just had hernia surgery that was explained to him as "minor" surgery. He said he found out what "minor" surgery was. It was surgery performed on someone else!!! I would gladly help if I was closer. Nashville is a day's drive for me.
  21. Oh No!!! I'm so sorry! Please keep us informed and get well quickly. Sorry for Big Red too!
  22. skydoc, the yamaha video linked says turning the screw out richens the mixture.
  23. I'm a Viet Nam era US Army veteran but I didn't serve in Viet Nam. I was stationed in S. Korea instead. I lost a friend in VN and a cousin came home with a bullet wound in the abdomen. He made a full recovery. Another friend had a helmet shot off his head but wasn't injured. He brought the helmet home with him as a souvenir. Just about everybody my age knew someone who died over there, over 50,000 killed. I was fortunate that I didn't go to VN. And I am so grateful to the veterans who keep us safe. We can't do enough for our wounded veterans!
  24. My Royale has too much stuff. I'd rather have a plain bike. I won't be adding anything for appearance. Stuff like the chrome front brake covers turn me off rather than on. Only change I plan to make is a 4 brush starter. Might think about a LOUD horn. I did buy an R1 brake caliper but I haven't decided whether I'll install it.
