  1. I got a offer in the mail the other day stating that I have been nominated for a charter membership in Motorcycle Riders Club of America. They sent me a nice little writting pad, a card with my name on it and a zipper pull of an American Eagle. I just can't think of what I ever did to deserve this great honor. They said they would send me stuff for me to try out and then I would have to write a little blurb about if I kiked it or not and why. But I get to keep what ever they send me! Maybe they will send me new Venture to try and to keep. All this for one little monthly fee! WOW! Do you think they send everybody stuff to try or just us "Charter Members" ? Any boby else out there that is also a "Charter Member" OH HAPPY DAY!!!!!:banana:
  2. My DSL download speed has always been about 1200 kbs for years.Last month it jumped to 2600 kbs. Frontier must have done a upgrade somewhere.I'm lucky to have it. Were 12 miles from the CO.I just renewed my contract for another year.:cool10:
  3. Greetings fellow members. Of all the places in the world my company sent me to Greenland. Ain´t I lucky? We have projects in USA, Panama, Jamaica, Norway, Denmark and Iceland and I got the lucky draw - GREENLAND of all places. Haven´t yet figured out what I did wrong! We are building a water power plant for the town of Sisimiut on the West coast of Greenland for 6.000 inhabitants. The project side is in an isolated fjord 45 miles from the town of Sisimiut and the only way to get to the project side is on snowscooters at this time of year since the fjords are frosen one meter solid. We are having an icebraker brake the ice on Sunday and hopefully we will be lucky enough to be able to sail to the site after next week. I am taking care of business in the town - that is getting all supplies over to the site, organising transport, hiring subcontractors and so forth. The town is not very clean to say the least and the roads all together not much more than around 10 miles if you count every street and alley. Boy do I feel trapped in and lonly. No motorcycles over 50 cubic inches allowed in Greenland. They did allow them before but the natives drove them like snowscooters and were constantly killing themselves and pedestrians so they banned them. Just could not imagine myself settling down in a place like that. Will be staying here till the 28th. of May and then heading home to meet my family for a couple of days and then VOLLA - "USA Freebirds Maintenance Day" here I come!!!! That is actually keeping me from loosing my mental health. Can´t wait to meet you all. Weather today - Minus 12C°. Brrrrr,,, cold,,,,,,,, Attached a couple of pictures just for fun. One of my house, another one of the village and the last but not least of my housekeeper. A lovely lady named Agatha that takes really good care of me. Cooks all my meals, does the shopping, washes my clothes and is just like a mother to me. Always smiling and in a good mood. Would be completely lost without her. Reminds me - Big Tom - will you do my laundry when I come over to your place in June??????????????????????????????
  4. I live in small town America. We used to ride our motorcycles into little league games. You had to be carefull. The other kids would turn up your idle screw so when you started your bike, it would be screaming. We did that to a fried of mine, he gave it a kickstart and it was in gear. The bike shot out from underneath him, and tried to climb the backstop. When it flipped over onto the ground the rear tire was spittin gravel all over everybody. Talk about funny, lucky nobody got hurt. The funny thing is 35 years ago you could do something like that and it was ok. That was neat, 3 or 4 of us had 90 cc kawasaki dirt bikes. Those were the days!!!
  5. The CLASS on my 84 kept giving me an E2 and or E4 error. The bike was not charging so I replaced the stator. Now the bike is charging and the CLASS is now working.
  6. A friend sent me this and I thought I would share it. Hope it gives you the same feeling I had after hearing it. Enjoy. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0rQzUVQjd8]YouTube - So Lucky to be an American - Baxter Black[/ame] MIKE aka Uturn
  7. Geez, almost got taken out twice today! Incident #1 - I was riding in the right lane of a four lane divided highway. Coming the other direction was a funeral procession. The lead car in our group in the left lane figured they had to stop. The car right behind couldn't brake quick enough so they swerved into my lane causing me to go onto the shoulder to avoid getting hit. Incident #2 - Minutes later, I rolled into town and was following a car. A school bus was coming the other way and stopped at a railroad crossing. They always stop and turn on their lights before crossing the tracks. For some reason, the car in front of me slammed on their brakes and stopped as well. I had to swerve around the car to avoid rear ending it. Lucky I had left enough room to do this. Needless to say, I feel pretty lucky. Be careful out there.
  8. Lucky for me, it was the first time I drove my truck to work in over a month. I got rear-ended by a young girl in a car. All it did was knock the paint off of my trailer hitch. Her car sustained some pretty good damage in the front. All I could think of was how lucky I was to not be on the bike today. Be careful out there.
  9. On I-5 headed for Lake Taho, Two weeks ago, crossing bridge over Lake Shasta, saw this Aircraft, and was lucky enough to get some photo's. Anybody recognise this Old Aircraft ?? ( WWII Vintage, only 3 of them left )
  10. Rode with a few other couples Sat to J & P Cycle's open house in Anamosa. About 50 miles into the ride we were going around a bend in the road and all we both saw was brown hair and then bang, bang, bang....The deer had to have made one leap from the other side of the ditch right into the left side of our fairing. All I can say is my husband is one heck of a good driver. We skidded into the other lane, onto the gravel shoulder the whole bike is swerving and he held onto it. I can't believe we didn't hit the ditch or lay the bike down. Cut in the front tire from the fender bending down, headlights sitting crooked and a few more dings. We're hoping the forks are ok.I don't think he was going over 45 mph when it happened. I can't belive how lucky we were. Kept on going down to the open house, but between the crowd down there, high winds and rain the whole way home...It was one of those days when we should have just hung it up for the day. No one hurt except his ankle which he drug on the road. A few Harley Riders from our hometown heard about it and everyone of them told Gary."It's lucky you had the Venture...cuz if it would have been an HD it would have never held up to that kind of force hitting it" Hope that's the first and last time we ever hit a deer!

    What does this mean?????

Took a look at my angel bell and it is smashed up. Does this mean (a) the gremlins are extra active (b) the angels worked over time © I've been lucky (d) my luck is getting ready to run out or (e) what?
  12. But mostly, I'm an idiot. Many of you read my recent traveling posts, where I flew down to LA to buy a bike and ride it back about 1115 miles. Sooooo, lets just say, the bike handled REALLY weird at slow to medium speeds, ESPECIALLY in turns. Thought it was just me on a new bike, first time with a fairing. Heck, I heard these things are a bit top heavy, yeah, that must be it.... Sooooooooooo, 1115 miles and a day later, a friend says, "say, your rear tire is low". Holy friggin crap! Can you say, TIRE PRESSURE! Dumb, dumb, dumbie, I didn't check the tire pressure before departing on my sojourn. FYI, I TOTALLY blame my own stupid self, not Roy. As "pilot in command" it's my responsibility to do a pre-flight check, I didn't. Too eager I spose. Long and short, BOTH tires were..............ready for this? 21 lbs low! Not combined, each. Yup, they were about 15lbs each. "Life is tough, it's tougher when you're stupid". Ok, I was lucky enough to survive and learn again, this lesson. Won't repeat this mistake. The self flagellation continues. Long and short, NOW the bike handles like a dream! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo happy and yet, mad at myself.
  13. A SWEET MACHINE!! :thumbsup2:The local dealer has the Raider S had one on the show room floor Saturday. It is really a nice machine. I love the paint and the way it sits, low and mean. Lucky the wife was with me and made me leave or you never know what might have happened.
