Well today I managed to put my wheels back on the bike after getting new rubber last weekend. Due to the position of the bike on the lift I could not replace my rear shock links with the shorter leveling links. So I have to do that another day. Putting the wheels back on wasn't too hard (remember this is my first time doing this work). Black Owl stopped over and I recruited him as my second pair of hands to help out a bit. I also bought stock slip-ons so I can replace my BUB's. Wouldn't you know it I need muffler gaskets. The BUBs didn't use gaskets. The stock Yamaha's do. No one in town is open the rest of th weekend. Drats. I was hoping to get it done and put back together today. Wanna bet no shop in town will have these in stock and I will have to order them in on a slow boat from Japan. I WANNA RIDE!!

Got the Bubs mounted today, and also did the AIS plug. Runs good, no discernable lean spots in the fuel delivery. I have made no jetting or air intake changes at all. Mounting was fairly easy, and they sound pretty good. I had made some mods to the stock pipes, so there is not a huge difference in noise around town, at moderate speeds, but the Bubs do 'bark' a bit more on advancing throttle. They seem to radiate more sound to the sides, and have a slightly deeper 'runmbly' tone when idling. All in all, not too loud, just about right. Worth the bucks. I guess in a year, I'll give a report on those endcaps.

After looking at several threads, I decided to go with the BUB'S. They are being installed "as we speak". If the weather holds I will be picking my bike up from the dealer later today. Did the 8000mi check up and let him put my new BUB'S on for me. Can't waite to hear it! Gene

Installed a set of bubs last night. Now the question is should I rejet the carbs. A friend told me to run it 100 miles at Highway speeds and then look at the plugs, if their white in color it means she's running lean and I should rejet, if not should be OK. What do you think about that? And has anyone put on bubs and not rejetted and had zero problems?

I guess you could call this a "rant", and if it needs to be moved to another category then please do so. My '04 had just had a set of Bub's mufflers put on it not long before I got it. After my first long ride to the Smokies in May '06 I noticed the chrome on the tips was blistering really bad. I contacted Bub's and they told me to send a copy of the receipt, which I did. Then they told me I'd have to send the tips to them for inspection by their "Q.A" dept. and IF they were defective they would replace them in a couple of weeks. I proceeded to tell them that I felt it was totally unacceptable for me to have to sit out prime riding time while they decided what to do. I finally got them replaced after 6 e-mails and a credit card number to charge if they didn't receive the old ones within 10 days of delivery of the new ones. Well,,, guess what!! It's been 20 months since they were replaced, and now they are blistered again, just as bad as before, after being assured that they were no longer plated but polished billet. I don't expect any assistance at all now, but to me it doesn't look like they are putting out nearly as quality of a product as they claim. Oh well, the e-mail's on the way!!

I had ordered the Bubs exhaust and before I received them I'd drilled 4 half inch holes in each stock muffler and they sounded pretty good. I decided to have the "bubs" put on yesterday and they're a little louder than I thought they'd be but I love them!! They have a nice throaty growl and people will notice them. They really sound good idling and also when you gear down. Heck, they sound good no matter how you're driving. Just thought I'd tell you about it in case there are some riding the fence on them. They're great!! Eddie Flinchum--Winchester, Ky.

Where is the best prices on the Bub's slip-ons. I heard a set on a Venture today and they sounded soooo much better than the stock. I just hate to pay $400.00 for a different sound. I probably will though. Thanks in advance, Eddie Flinchum:)

I want to replace the BUB's Slip Ons that came with my '99 RSV (the previous owner put them on). I think they are just too loud and I want to go back to stock pipes. I know many people are replacing their stock pipes for BUB's, HD Road King and other after market pipes. Is anyone looking to make back some of their cost for buying those after market pipes? I'd offer a trade, but my BUB's are pretty old (aluminum tips not the chrome tips) and the bottom of the tips are scrapped up from taking corners real low. However - if your interested a trade is possible.

Took my bike to dealer today about the clutch whine and was told Yamaha does not replace clutch baskets anymore. But will install BUBs slipons instead. What do youall think of this? tew47

I put the drilled ultra classic mufflers on my bike last night and was a little bit disappointed. They are a little deaper but still too quiet. I'm used to the Cobras on my Shadow. I don't think my wife will let me spend $400 on a set of Samsons or Bubs but what about Rolling hunder mufflers? They are only $200 shipped. Anyone have these on their 2nd gen? I heard a sound clip but its hard to tell much from it. http://www.rollingthunderpipes.com/products.htm
