  1. Many years ago I was hired to look after a large hotel in Colorado after it closed for the winter. The hotel itself was beautiful, but it had its issues. It was not long after we moved in that I believe I started seeing ghosts and then started going a little crazy. I ended up chasing my wife and kid around the place with an axe. I even nearly froze to death after getting lost in the hedge maze outside that I was chasing the kid in. Oh well, we can laugh about it now, except for the last caretaker I took the axe to!! Come to think of it, this might have made a good movie! Dale
  2. Very nice, Rick. I'm not sure why anyone with a gorgeous bike like your Victory would want to spend time on a different bike, but that's just my opinion. Enjoy, my friend. Dale.
  3. That's very frightening, how quickly things can turn on you. Dale
  4. My American friends, don't take offense to the following statement , but I have been to your fine country a few times the last couple of years, and I must say, Canada is light years ahead of you in terms of credit and debit card technology. Up here, there is no need to hand your card over to anyone. Almost everywhere, we have chip/ pin machines. When you pay for something, including gas at the pump, you insert your card, put your PIN number in and that's it! No need to show ID, or submit your zip code, etc. it is very secure and convenient. Hopefully you folks are heading in that direction. Dale.
  5. Hang in there , Puc. This WILL be behind you, hopefully sooner than later. It's just the riding it out that is the sucky part. Next season, you will be a new man, and putting on many miles on old Tweeks, with Tippy riding shotgun. Dale
  6. Well, that was like watching a long movie only to find out the ending was a cliff hanger, and we have to wait for the sequel to find out what happened. Hopefully you find a solution and let us know what it was. Dale.
  7. Very cool.
  8. I'm hearing good things about helping folks from Nigeria get their money out of their country. Apparently the pay off is huge! Dale
  9. Wow, you folks got off lucky. That sounds like it could have been so much worse. I'm glad to hear you all are ok. Dale
  10. It sounds like you are on quite the journey, Ed. First Venture West, then the International Rally, now just cruising around. Nice! Stay safe, my friend. Dale
  11. Wow, Nanci, I'm so sorry to hear. I really enjoyed talking to Melanie at Venture West, and appreciated her waiting for me to get gas when the rest of the group had left on the night we will went for pie. Please pass along my best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery to her. Dale.
  12. After Venture West this year, "Divey" and I travelled east from California, through Nevada, into Utah. The speed limit on the highways kept increasing the further east we went, from 70 mph in California, then 75 mph in Nevada, and finally 80 mph in Utah. We stayed in Salt Lake City, near the airport, and the next morning, we had to navigate the highway that heads through the city, on our way to Wyoming. Surrounded by cars, going at least the posted 80 mph limit, was by far the most uncomfortable situation I had been in during this trip. Everyone was in such a hurry to get to work, zig zagging in and out of lanes, etc. I have to wonder why they have such a high speed limit in that area, when it is human nature to go a bit faster than the limit. This may not factor into the motorcycle death increase Utah is noticing, but it just might. Dale
  13. VR member Divey and I were in Red Lodge last week. We took the loooonnnnnggggg way home from Venture West. Beartooth was amazing. There is some scenery at the summit unlike anything I had ever seen. It is hard to look at all the beauty and ride at the same time on the narrow, twisty road, so be careful. Thankfully there are lots of turnouts that you can stop at. Dale
  14. It was indeed an awesome trip. Thanks for setting up the route and accommodations, Doug. I had such a great time! The picture of Rick ( SilverT) made me laugh. Dale
  15. Good luck with everything, Scott. Once you are all fixed up, we might have to start calling YOU " Tweeks". Dale.
  16. I'm glad you made it back safe and sound, Ed. It was great meeting you. I loved seeing your bike lit up the night of the pie run. Doug and I are still on the road, but should be at our respective homes Saturday. We are currently in Great Falls, Montana. Dale
  17. Interesting thoughts, guys. So far, I have only shut mine off when storing it for the winter. I think that if I were to shut it off every time I park, that I would eventually forget to turn it back on, leading to another issue in traffic. I will certainly be more aware of this when I next have it serviced.
  18. I saw this on our local news a couple of days ago. It goes to show that you always have to watch your surroundings. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KnqkrfuHTYY
  19. Well, as Venture West approaches, I figured I should get my bike serviced, so today was the day. I left it with the dealership for about 5 hours, and when I picked it up, off I went. About 3 minutes later, on a busy freeway, my bike started to sputter, then quit. Thankfully, I was near an off ramp, so I coasted up it and was just able to pull over out of the traffic stream. I then looked at my petcock, and sure enough, it was in the off position. I was greatful that I was able to pull off safely, but still, this could have been very dangerous, and it pissed me off. Just wanted to vent a little to my VR family. Dale.
  20. Sheesh! That is a lousy week. Hang in there, D.R. Dale
  21. Hi all. As Venture West approaches, I am trying to get prepared for the awesome roads we will be hitting. I got a Go Pro for Christmas this year for my bike, but I have not mounted it to the bike yet. I'm not sure where to mount it, or how. For those of you that have the Go Pro mounted, where did you put it, and how? thanks Dale.
  22. I didn't realize they were not legal in some places. I saw my first one out on the street here in Edmonton last week. Very cool. Dale.
  23. Nice. A friend of mine has one of those, but never takes it on the highway. He feels it is too small for that type of travel. Any thoughts? Perhaps I can convince him otherwise. Dale.
  24. That one made me laugh, Puc. Good one. Dale
  25. That is a tough day, indeed. Sorry for your loss.
