    you are right. the new buel engine was a joint design between eric buell and rotax. it is one bad v-twin. don't ever tangle with one unless you have some heavy metal. they still have some improvements to make but are on the right track. the sportster powered buell is still avaliable at a lesser price. give harley a little credit they are trying to get their head out of their arse. i think they need to retire Willy g. and hire some young blood. or like the roomer went have a honda take over.

    you guys are missing the point. it's a fun bike. not really meant to be for the serious biker. it's like my zx 14, you ride it when you want to do something a little off the wall. and you want to crank a few wrenches to personalize it when it's raining or snowing. it's like a jet ski. only difference is you can use it for every day transportation. theres lots of fun bikes out there that are alot more expensive. take the new v-max. i would have one to play with in a minute. if i was a few years younger. i got my zx14 when i want to play. nothing at all wrong with having a play toy around to tinker with. i like the looks of xr 1200. it needs some work but it's got possibilities. the new max needs lots of work, but under all that ugly there is one good looking machine. what do you think squeeze? bill

    you kinda have to know a little sporster history to appreciate that bike. it started way back in the 50's with the kr model. r meaning race if i remember right. than they came out with the xr 750 which had special heads with dual carbs facing rearward and front facing exaust ports. they were orange and black and dominated dirt track till honda came along with a v-twin. they were a very sharp looking bike. strictly a race bike. there have been a couple of look alike sportsters built over the years but the originals are priceless. there are alot of people waiting in line for this new one for the nostalgia value. i had alot of fast sportsters and they are still the best sounding and my favorite harleys. sportsters are very popular with the ladies now.

    i sold that one to a buddy for $200.00. it had a perfect california body. no rust or filler.

    i thank god everyday that i was one of the lucky ones that lived in the best of all times. i had a great life with several ultra major downs that took me to my knees. the main man got me through them. now i am flying high and just live for tomorrow. i don't worry about the future anymore, just getting out of bed for another great day is enough for me. my doctor just can't figure my logic. i told him you will when you get to be my age. had my fun and it was a great ride. don't worry about the end of the line. when it comes, be it tomorrow or next year. i'm ready. my philosophy is, make the best of every minute of your life. you only get one shot at it. bill

    never had a problem with paypal, and i use it alot. they have my checking account no. and just deduct what ever i spend. get a premium account if you get one. it sure makes buying things and transfering money over the net easy. i think their security is topnotch. bill

    jay, you know i ain't conservative when it comes to engineering. i really like it and i like the automatic. i have automatic on my majesty and there are times when i like just not having to worry about shifting, loud pipes, and just being able to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing, ride. i would like to see more weather protection on it. it will go over big. i would consider one if it had wet weather protection. since i have only my ranger truck, my bike is my second car and gets ridden all year round. bill:)

    are you kidding, me work a camera. i brought my camera to the eureka springs meet, bought a new hipowered card and took about 200 pictures.about two turned out. i had it set on movies most of the time. brought it to st. jude this year and had no card in it. it's hard enough working on the darn bike much less taking pictures. one of these days i'm going to sit down and figure this camera out.

    i partially agree with you. im pro synthetic cuz i'm mr. overkill, but i haven't bent over to the motorcycle specific scam and never will. alot of the dragracers over here are running mobil1 5w-30 energy conserving in their zx-14's and busas. for lower friction, cuz of the moly content which gives less drag and a few more hp. i run mobil1 10w-30 automotive energy conserving in all my bikes including my 14. never had a problem. i used castrol syntec 10w-40 in my max when i had it. i am not hard on clutches and have never cooked one. i figure if these guys can pump 4 or 5 hundred hp through a beefed up busa clutch. i ain't gonna have no problems. and i get less friction and wear on the engine internals as a bonus. works for me. beside i thought the tires are supposed to do all the slipping not the clutch. lol, mine have a habit of getting loose once in awhile. bill

    i liked the anti dive okay ,but with the race tech springs and no anti dive i notice no dive at all under normal braking. rear shock is next. felt okay with the oem front end but now feels a little soft.

    well i got my wing on the road this morning with my totally reworked racetech forks. what a difference in the ride. disabled the antidive with the mod and it really handles the washboard bumps now. really made a noticable difference. did anyone ever wonder why we can buy a new car and don't have to buy seats, modify suspension so it rides and handles right, change the steering wheel so it's more comfortable, etc. if any one should be able to build a perfect bike it ought to be the japenese. please don't let this go political. bill

    well i went up there and they had one, and the crate would'nt fit in my ranger with the tool box. i asked them if i could pay for it and come back in the morning with my trailer and pick it up. he said no. so there went the sale price. just did'nt feel like going home and getting the trailer. could'nt find anything else to use the coupon on so i came home empty handed. i still have a 15% off coupon if i decide to buy the lift. the one i have now is rated at 1000 lbs but i use it in my shop for my zx-14. i don't think it is long enough for my wing.

    harbor freight is having a one day only 25% off sale on any one item. today only, saturday 12/6/08. i think it includes sale items. they emailed me a coupon. guess they have them instore. anyway i need another bike lift for my garage. they are on sale for $299.95. with 25% off that makes it $ 225.00. now all i have to do is convince linda that i really need 2 of them. going to run by there today. to see if they have one.

    not a whole lot happening this month on the rally cuz of the holiday season. just want to remind every one that would like to register and order their t-shirt sizes, or just drop in and see what the t-shirts look like, just click on the hub at the top of the venturerider home page. early registration will be helpful, so we can get a count for the final meal and so cindy can get going on the t-shirts and patches , and rosebud can make up the name badges for the meet. i hope everyone is having as great a holiday season as linda and i are having. bill

    well i got the race tech mod done on my wing forks, and they are back on the bike. what a job. learned a whole lot about front suspension and dampening that i never new. all i have left to do is put the wheel on, and the plastic. next comes the progressive rear suspension mod. thats way down the road. got no complaints on the oem rear suspension. can't wait to hit the twisties. maybe next weekend. bill
