i was there yesterday morning, and there was not alot going on. the tent camping area was full but it is pretty isolated. the rest of the park was pretty serene. guess it is late in the season now. i will do some more checking. i think weather wise, the end of august would be the prime time. so i am going to figure on the last week of august if every thing looks good there. this is far from official. it will take a few weeks to look in to it. if i do this meet, i will probably still spend a day or two at the hub in early may, for a meet and eat on a friday and saturday, with a stop at lamberts to eat.

buddy you said it all. people just can't look at themselves and take responsibility for their own actions. those jerks in government were just regular folks like the rest of us.(GREED)

you need to stay off them horses. i quit training horses 10 years ago and quit riding last year. still have one, but it is my wifes horse. i have been folded spindled and mutilated by horses, broken ribs , collerbone etc. finally realized i break easier than i used to. got enough physical problems. love them horses but it's for the youngsters.

ok folks, i'm going to put the hub meet on hold for a couple of weeks. i just got back from my morning ride and i discovered a most beautiful state park with a motel, cabins, rv hook ups ,tent camping, and a really neat souveineer shop and restaurant. i haven't been there for 45 years but it is awesome. there is swimming, fishing, float trips, etc, in the park and lots of tourist stuff nearby. the name of the park is meramec state park in the heart of missouri. check it out on the web and see what you think. thii park is huge ,heavily wooded and very outdoorsy. i am going to do some checking on it. it was very pleasant weather wise down there today ,so i was thinking maybe the end of august would be nice. there is also plenty of good riding in the area. it is right near sullivan, mo. right off i-44. i'm open for opinions, but since i am going to put this on by myself. i'm going to make the final decision. this would be closer to home for me and make it alot easier for me to get together. the hub is'nt off the slate yet. i just want to check out this alternative, for something new and different.

i usually have my st. charles meet the first part of may. so since i'm not doing that anymore, and i'm not doing the eureka springs meet anymore. i am thinking about the first week of may. the weather should be perfect. i'm not expecting this to be a rally size meet, just a nice get together for those that want to come back, and those that haven't had a chance to ride the great arkansas roads. i'm not going to get fancy with it. it is hard to design a meet around each individuals situation. don would this interfere with your maintenance day? naturally i would like to have a big crowd. i have to do the best i can to satisfy everyone. this will be a kick the season off meet. so i am tentatively setting the date for the first week of may. i will have to check with don and the hub before i make it official.

going to pick the dates for the hub meet next year. remember this is not the international rally. july and august are out, too hot! need some ideas on this, the majority may rule. we had a great time at the international this year ,so i have decided to do it again. it will be a no frills meet, a just come down let your hair down and relaxed get together. i need to get a date set so i can contact randll at the hub, so we can secure the motel reservations. they have other groups lined up. randall will take care of our group. i know it is early but i want everyone to have plenty o notice so they can plan ahead and make reservations. so give me some kick back. thanks, bill

a good friend of mine worked for a local honda dealer in the early 70's and bought 2 cbx's in the crates. he rode one and as far as i know still has one in the crate. they were a big bore very short stroke engine, high rpm. i think they were 1000 cc's. i almost bought one back then but bought a new mach111 500 kaw instead. the cbx's bring big bucks now. actually the st 1300 would have room easily for 2 more cyl.s. and you would have the v-6. here is a bit of info for v-6 lovers. the sho taurus had a v-6 yamaha motor in it and it looked exactly like a v-max motor. i was wanting to build a bike with one in it in my younger days but could 'nt find a new motor. the drive train would have been a machinist night mare. it was one beautiful motor, and it would have been one neat bike. now i have the time, drive train, money , and facilities to build it, but lack the fortitude to tackle it. there is plenty of room for a v-6 in a bike. but the flat six is so reliable and smooth, and has such a tremendous following why mess with it. i look for a v-8 automatic in the not to far future. there is already a Europeon company that built one. it is a sport bike.

i'm one of those old folks, and i live in the real world. i say you ain't seen nothin yet. i live for tomorrow and never look beyond that anymore. glad i'm as old as i am, and i must say i payed my dues many times over and did the best i could for my country, and my fellow man. the generations behind me haven't got much to look forward to if anything at all. i've watched the deterioration take place from the day i was old enough to understand. we are all at fault. it's all about whats in it for me. very sad. key word here is GREED! that is what is going to finish off the human race. i think i will just take off on my 200 mile saturday morning scenic breakfast ride and thank god for all the great rides i was able to have. snarley bill

there are some fast cushmans out there. i have one i'm building now, a 58 eagle with a 750cc crosely 4 cyl in it. just built a four speed vanguard v-twin that will break 100 mph. there is a bunch in texas that have some very hot eagles. a friend of mine has a twin engine vanguard triked eagle. theres a few sporster powered eagles running around. got to love those cushmans.

i would have to say the wing hands down. it sets the standard for a touring bike. it hasn't been no.1 for years for nothing. the venture would be my second choice. they are both great bikes. just depends on the individual. the wing would be a little cramped for a tall person. i have solved the floorboard problem on my wing with modified kury highway boards. i have made brackets to move them down and rearward. took away the spread eagle feel. i now have the best of both worlds. pegs, and floorboards that are comfortable. the power is incredible and it is very smooth. the seat is like any of them. it depends upon the indiviual. the only thing i had against the venture was frame flex when pushing it in the curves, which caused wallowing, and having to shift constantly. the wing is rock solid, almost sportbike like, and you put it in 5th gear and forget it.

thats the neat thing about drag racing on the street now with these new cars. no one knows your having an all out drag race accept you and the other guy. i figure if i happen to find some one that can beat my majesty scooter,(and there aren't many that can), i will go get the big guns out. i have put a scooter job on some harleys and lots of cars. i beat a superglide good with the vangaurd powered cushman eagle that i had, and an 1800 vtx. how embarracing, to get blowed off by a cushman scooter.
