Fuel Tank Arithmetic (I HATE math with a passion!)
Cottonpkr replied to Semi-retired's topic in Watering Hole
You could probably figure about 38mpg avg. -
People that hold up traffic on the two lane and then when it turns to four lanes you cant catch them and pass before the highway turns to two lanes again. And of course they slow back down to ten under the limit! Grrrrrrrr!

Don't know the country over there (I'm on the west coast) but sounds like a fun ride. Be safe and enjoy!

Hi all. Glad to be back! Put the Hagon on yesterday. Took her for a short spin. Big difference! Now I'm thinking it's probably time for a front fork evening kit and possibly a rebuild. I do have a question for you guys that have a Hagon installed. How do you go about making adjustments after the shock is installed? Don't think it's gonna be that easy.

This here is old Cottonpkr. I'm back after about a five year hiatus from this forum. Doubt any of you remember me as I didn't ever post very much anyway. So, as a result of my shock taking a dump on the old '03 Venture, I started looking for a solution to the problem and guess where I started looking? That's right. Right here on the good old Venture Rider forum and our buddies at the Venture net. I read all that I could find and finally ordered the Hagon shock which arrived today. Thought it was kinda funny putting a British built shock on a Jap bike, but what the hell. I was born on a USAF base in England anyway. Sorta nostalgic for me I guess. Anyway just wanted to put a shout out there to sorta let you all get some idea of who I am when you see a post or comment by Cottonpkr. Good to be back and Don, I promise NOT to post anything for sale in the watering hole.

You're VERY LUCKY that it wasn't worse. I agree with a previous poster that any wreck that you can walk away from is a good one, and now you've come away the wiser too. Glad I live in a rural town and don't have to deal with all that traffic on a daily basis. Don't know how you guys do it. Heal quickly and fix that ride! Getting back in the saddle asap is important! Uh... as soon as you're ready, that is.

You can start by checking mine cause I don't believe my eyes! How long have these people been driving?!?!

I never leave home without a wet rag. I use a small empty "Nesquick" (chocolate...of course) container to put the wet rag in. Stands up in the side bag. Also take along the drying towel and a bottle of water for rinse (if you need to use the towel again) and drinking.

Easiest way to REMEDY an Oil overfill
Cottonpkr replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When I use the sight glass (on the level)...all I can see is a bubble at the top...so I know it's overfilled. Welp... I don't know Wally, but I figure if you can see a bubble on the level, you're ok. If not, I'm sure someone will be correcting me soon. As far as draining out a little, I'd say you'd have to be pretty quick with the plug. Good luck and let us know how (and how much) it all came out! -
I agree! What a rip off! Don't you just love it when folks you've dealt with in the past (ie: phone company, water / sewer, JC Penney...whoever) make changes that effect your wallet and just don't mention it to YOU!! It's the modern day chicken s#^t way of saying "stick 'em up!"

Petcock doesn't shutoff flow
Cottonpkr replied to RandyR's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the same problem on my 03. Have took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together every way possible. Still doesn't stop the flow. It will switch from main to reserve and that works. But won't completely shut off the flow. Hope somebody has a fix that works. Even at $24, I can't see spending $$ on a new one that might have the same problem. Anybody have one that DOES work? -
Yeah! Couldn't believe that last one! Bet they couldn't either!

Anybody got stock pipes?
Cottonpkr replied to Cottonpkr's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
