  1. Sounds like your dealer is a good guy...worth supporting. Any details on the SB?
  2. My 07 RSV has 22,000 kms. It has been to the dealer once for service (initial) once for rear wheel noise and once to have trunk lights installed. That will be it unless something big and expensive breaks. Everytime it has gone in I have had to redo the work. Over filled oil level, loose parts, mickey mouse wiring on the trunk LEDs. Not to mention the inconvenience of having to leave the bike. I use the owners manual service schedule as a guideline, but don't do everything they list, either do they. I probably still over service the bike. Partly because I like to work on it and secondly I would rather do maintenance than repairs on the road. I do record every service and keep receipts of all filters, oil and parts I use. Helps my old brain remember and may help with warranty claims in future. My two cents...
  3. Just plain KMs, no MPH. Makes it a pain travelling state side. Have to use the GPS set to MPH.
  4. Just want to make sure I order the right tire. From what I've read Avon sounds like the tire for me, but I was on the Avon site and found Venom and Venom R tires, but no Venom X? My dealer only knows what Yamaha tells him so I need the right information to order. Thanks,
  5. I have the exact same issue, to the point that I stopped using the audio on my GPS. From the responses above, I got the answer that I needed. Thanks!
  6. Not me...LOL
  7. Normally don't use the horn, but we were at a wedding last Saturday. About 14 bikes including the bride and groom road from the outdoor wedding to the reception hall. Lots of horn blowing as we came back into town. Both my wife and I could hear the horn through the headsets. I new it would do that, but forgot to tell the wife that she would hear it through her new headset...she knows now!
  8. AC-3 it is! I like the HJC helmets and as long as it works, that's the way I'll go. Thanks to all that responded.
  9. Sorry, should have mentioned that. The AC2M is a half helmet.
  10. I purchased a Yamaha (J&M) headset recently. I installed the headset in my HJC AC2M..., well I tried. When I put the speakers which barely fit into the speaker pockets they are so thick they dig into my ears and drive me crazy (crazier). I think I need to go to a 3/4 helmet in order to accomodate the speakers, but I don't want to spend that kind of money unless I know the speakers and mike will fit properly. Any suggestions on which helmet will work?
  11. I have an old Motocomm headset that I used on my V-star connected to a small CB. Does anyone know if I can get an interface connection cable to hook up between that and the 5 pin Yamaha connector? I will eventually go for a J&M set but for now I'd like to use the existing headset I have. Any info is appreciated.

    Break in

Thanks for the advice, makes sense. Now, if I could just get some the weather to cooperate...
  13. As I wait for some riding weather I've been reading through the owners manual. I can't believe Yamaha's suggested shift speeds for break in. I'm interested to hear how others road during the break in period and tips.
