  1. A car wash that leaves water spots???? A polish that doesn't take out water spots??? Who'd buy these products anyway???
  2. sure...they give us a quad with the new V-4 in it LONG before a new RSV ... I have a sneaky feeling tho that the next gen RSV will ROCK!
  3. just how small are you? I'm 5' 11" , weigh 155lbs soakin wet, small boned, "wiry" kinda, 32" inseam. I've never taken any rider courses either but I have the RLAP CD (or at least had it ... made the mistake of lending it to my son who lent it to another guy who lent it to another guy...one would think they figgure MY STUFF is public property! LOL ... nobody seems to know where it is now.). As for the Wing versus the RSV ... I can't make an accurate comment; however, I do recall my 83 Wing seeming a lot lighter than my '85 VR yet once I got used to that '85, it was a much better handling bike except at slow speeds. Now that I have the '06 RSV, I find it considerably easier to handle at slow speeds than either my '85 VR or my '87 VR. I think one of the factors in that is "perception" which comes from the handlebar mount fairing versus the frame mount. The '06 just "appears" to be smaller thus giving the perception of being lighter. I do feel though that the '06 is better "weight balanced" than the 1st gens. I've never ridden a recent model Wing ... wouldn't mind trying one but I'd never buy one...just don't like the style.
  4. A lot of folks comment about this ... I really don't understand what they mean as I don't notice any problems with slow speed handling...maybe it's an individual thing with who the person is riding the bike???
  5. good 4 U ... so does this mean you'll be changing your nicname to "LITTLE TOM"??
  6. I'm on my scoot going down the street. Your in a car coming towards me. There's an intersection between us and the light is green and it stays that way. You look at me and it appears I'm going at a speed slow enuf that you have enough time and room to make a left turn safely. I look at you, see your left blinker but figgure you're going to wait for me to pass before you turn. I then see you turning but by that time, it's too late to avoid the inevitable. We collide (aka Crash aka have an Accident). Who's at fault? Who pays for my severe injuries that cripple me for the rest of my life? a) ... you should have waited ... you misjudged..you made a mistake. b) ... I should have anticipated and slowed down or took some other evasive action ...I misjudged...I made a mistake. Well, what it "should" be is that you failed to yield the right-of-way and I am "squeaky-clean" ... I have done nothing wrong ... but the reality is, we BOTH misjudged each other. My point being.... The fact is, WE are on a motorcycle and the fact is, it is harder for people to judge our distance from them, our speed, our real size, and a whole lot of other things. WE need to be much more defensive ... WE should not rely on the other for our safety. I agree, EDUCATION is seriously lacking and penalties for various driving infractions are ridiculous so with that in mind, it's UP TO US to look after OURSELVES first and foremost.
  7. Trapped???? not me!
  8. none of the above... but, I had just recently put those on when I got the speeding ticket...... hmmmmmmm  :scratchchin:
  9. They're called "Sideportz" and are in the automotive dept. I saw 2 styles. The just stick-on.
  10. Obviously, we weren't the only bikers taking advantage of some nice weather....
  11. Got these from WalMart..they come 6 to a pak.
  12. My fav bike was a '72 Honda CB500-4. I put a lot of "personalization" into that bike...extended forks, Hooker 4 into 1 headers, raised handlebars, lowered rear shocks, "dressed out" engine, king/queen seat (built by me) and custom black with blue flames paint job (also by me). It was very "unique" and with those Hooker headers it sounded way cool and could blow away a stock CB750. Haven't had this '06 RSMV long enuf but I have a feeling it will become my fav bike
  13. heh... you were probably just cruisin along with the rest of the traffic there LOL Mine was on hwy 99 at River Road heading into Van...you know that bit of a pull-off to the left just under and past the overpass.... I see them there all the time... like I said, "wasn't paying attention" LOL oh well, it's that old story.... "sooner or later yer gonna get caught".
  14. A woman thinking about forming a PMS support group??? Isn't there already tons of those??? :witch_brew:
  15. Awrite... who's been tellin ya all about me????
  16. heh... now who's gonna hang around the house when he retires??? NOT ME! If I'da bought the Harley, I'd be 70 before it was paid off and I ain't waiting that long to retire LOL
  17. you forget??.. I DO have a 1st gen too :D
  18. I didn't use the shields mostly because taking them off the stock mufflers basically destroys the looks of them and if you ever wanted to sell them or re-use them, well, I just didn't think it was a good idea. I bought a set of VTwin chrome clamps and they look just fine.
  19. hmmmmmm do these 2nd gens actually do 140 Miles per hour?? ... I'll have to check that out!
  20. What PO's me is that I KNOW the radar cops hang out at this spot but I was so enjoying the ride, the tunes, and the sound of my RK's that I wasn't paying attention ...until it was too late. They got me doing 140 in a 100 zone (kilometers that is) and I was starting to slow down LOL.
  21. It caused me to get a speeding ticket yesterday...first one in about 25 years! $196 ... OUCH!!! Glad the cop gave me a break otherwise it could have been almost $400 !
  22. There's a show on TV called something like "Drive-ins, Diners, and dives" ... this guy goes around chekkin out some really cool places to eat ... watching it makes a guy wanna do a road trip just to visit those places LOL
  23. Well guys (those who can't go out riding) ... look at it this way ... at least if you ain't out ridin the scoot, ya won't be gettin no speeding tickets .... (like I did yesterday!) OUCH!! $196 ... that's an expensive day of riding!
  24. I bought my 06 and financed it over 3 yrs that way I can enjoy it now and it will be paid off when I do retire.
  25. I just bought the Yamaha OEM product from South Seattle Sports Plaza www.yamahasportsplaza.com ... cost $134.96 Don't know load capacity of the trunk but I know there are other threads in here that have that info. It's a bit tricky to install coz the holes you drill have to be fairly "exact". I took my time and followed the instructions and made sure I measured accurately and double checked the positioning each hole I drilled.
