    02 Midnight Venture
  1. While riding my 2002 Venture I came to a stop light and out of the blue my RPMs dropped from 1000 down to about 500 and then back to 1000. When I went to pull away I killed the engine. I was able to restart the engine but had to give the bike much more power to keep from killing it. I was able to get it home but my idle is all up and down. I did change the fuel filter this spring. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting???
  2. My shock started leaking in the winter of my fifth year. Yamaha wanted $400+ for a new shock but I pressured them into giving me a new one. They claimed that their obligation ran out at 5 years but I felt their shock should have lasted longer then 25,000 miles and shouldn't be $400+ to replace. I can but four shocks for my car at half that price.
  3. I can't believe what I am reading here. This sounds like little kids saying you can't play with me and my group because you have the wrong or too many patches on your jacket.
  4. I hate dealerships. All of them
  5. I had to do a double take, thought I was on the wrong web site. Didn't realize we talked computers here, only motor cycles. Ha.
  6. Changed the fuel sending unit in the tank and now all is well. Pretty easy job.

    RSV choke

When the bike was band new, I never used the choke unless it was in the 30s or 40s. Now after 29,000 miles I am finding I need to use the choke especially if it has sat for several days no matter what the temp However after the ride to work I can usually start home and not need it.
  8. Thanks a million guy's for the feedback, I will check this out. I have become used to seeing this function since new and it just bugs me to not have something working as it should.
  9. Can someone help me figure this one out on my 2002 Venture? My low fuel light no longer comes on. My fuel gage still works however it no longer switches over to F and counts up showing how far I’ve gone at my reserve level. I have checked the bulb and it is OK. So my question is this. Is it possible that my fuel-sending unit in the tank is still faulty even though it does work for the fuel gage? What other things should I check before changing the sending unit or how can the sending unit be tested to know if it needs changed?
  10. I wouldn't wouldn't worry at all about buying a used Venture as long as it has been taken care of. My 02 Midnight Venture is for sure the best ride I have ever owned. My wife loves it for two up riding as well. One option for looking at used Ventures is on e-bay. In fact there is one one there now. A 2000 for $7,500.00 with 38,370 miles. Looks very clean. http://i.ebayimg.com/15/!BkCk5QQCGk~$(KGrHqIOKjQEsmnWIpOKBLV6LvD18Q~~_35.JPG
  11. Everything is in Gods hands Brother, just teach them to be safe both by your words and by example and the rest will take care of itself.
  12. Just got rid of my wifes 99 Chrysler 300M what a pile of junk. Last Chrysler I will ever own. She is now driving an 08 Lincoln MKX. I drive a 05 AWD Chevy Astro Van in the winter and a 1995 Ford Probe GT that has been a pet project and now looks like a brand new car, has only 75,000 on her. Then obviously my 02 Midnight Venture tops the list whenever its not raining or freezing.
  13. Thanks V7Goose, I am glad to hear this is not something serious. I will look for you other post. I'm glad I posted the pics. Is there a reason why this is more noticable above the left rear carb and not the rest?
  14. I noticed the same issue this fall while fixing the bad ignition switch and wiring in a bypass switch, which I placed under the side cover next to the fuel pump. I was hoping some post would show up regarding this problem. My bike is an 02 with only about 25,000 miles on it.

    Why?

No kidding, I just blew 19" of new snow from the drive way in zero degree temperatures and 35 to 50 mph winds. Noe fun except for getting to stay home from work as do nearly the entire state.
