My personal reason for delinking my brakes is because I have had a couple incidents were due to loose sand on an asphalt road, I could not stop without locking up the front wheel despite using only the foot pedal no matter how light I applied them, and the wheel would slide out side ways forcing me release the brakes and to gun it through the intersection. I guess maybe this is one isolated case were ABS may have been OK although I am inclined to think that the ABS would have just released the brake same as I was forced to and I would still be forced to gun through the intersection hoping no cars came the other way.
I agree. On every vehicle I owned I have always disabled my ABS and Traction control. Traction control on rear wheel drive vehicles really sucks. If you want to punch the throttle to swing the back end so you can pull it out of a front wheel skid, It cant be done because of the way traction control cuts your engine and applies brakes to the free spinning wheel. With regards to ABS I have lost count of the number of times a customer got in a rear ender and complained had it not been for ABS they would have stopped in time. It is all geared to accommodate those who do not know how to drive or handle an emergency situation. With regards to ABS on MC's I can't really comment as I have never driven one with ABS but I suspect I would still prefer to have full control over my brakes as I see fit.
Instead of using bolts to secure the extension piece. Why not make sure it slides in and out about 6-8" freely without being sloppy and use a couple lynch or clevis pins instead. This way you could compact it quickly and easily for storage.
I have to agree. I believe the major 2 reasons for high costs in Canada is A) Canada does not have the population numbers that the US has, resulting in costs being shared/divided among a smaller number of people. B) Canadians as a whole do not tend to speak out enough as a group against politicians simple using excuses to fatten their paychecks without having to work for it.
Prime example is the newly formed Colleges of trades of Ontario, that has taken trades licensing over from the Government in Ontario. Their first step is to increase our trade fees. Instead of paying for our licenses once every three years they are going to charge us the same amount every year. They claim it is to allow the trade to be self regulating the way Doctors and Lawyers are and to improve the trade public image B***S***...The fact is its just another bunch of lazy parasites trying to pull a wage off of the backs of those who actually work for a living. Nor will it do anything to improve the wages of trades people, definitely not matching the doctors or lawyers they use as an example. But you cannot get enough people together in Ontario to put a stop to this cash grab.
Here is one better. Go to Port Dover on Fri 13th. You will be amazed at how many show up in brand new leathers from head to toe and have never straddled a bike in their life.
I just finished reading about Art . I hope he pulls through without any serious side affects. Head injurys can be nasty. Prayers for him and his wife that all turns out well.
I need to replace the clutch on my 1st gen MKII. I plan on replacing both driven and drive disks and upgrading to the Barnett spring plate. So my question is this what part numbers should I be getting and which venders should I check out for pricing etc.
I started with Kingsway in 2005 at $500.00 for Liability only by 2008 they jacked me up to $1000.00. So I switched to riders plus back down to $600.00. by last year they jacked me up to $800.00. Come October I will be shopping around again.
I got the same message a couple days ago. I called fedex about it and the first thing she asked me was, does it ask you to click for a receipt. I told her it did and she said to delete it right away and under no circumstances to click on it. I have not received another one though.
